Im a big guy so the weight isnt a problem, I was wondering how does this thing perform in terms of games, cooling system and also hows core 2 duo compared to centrino 2.
i was thinking about the NP8660 but for a similar setup its more expensibe and no blu ray.
any of you own one of this?
i was looking at default setup from sager but added the display option for higher resolution.
the setup should be somehting like 2.6ghz core 2 duo, 4gb ram 800,9800gts, 320gb hd 7200, bluetooth, bluray, wireless etc
any idea on 3dmark06 score?
thanks

If you are going to be on a campus walking around, you will not want to be carrying a 17" laptop, it is too cumbersome, and the weight has nothing to do with it. It is just so awkward when you have other things to carry, including the carrying case. Trust me i'm a big guy too, and i am on a college campus. If you aren't going to travel a lot, then consider getting the 5793 or even the 9262. If you want to be very specific with what comes in your laptop, and if you live in the US, consider www.avadirect.com. They are a good website especially for these three laptops.
Honestly though i would go with the 8660/m860tu because of size, battery, and how good of a build it has. The laptop stays cool, its impressive, especially with what it has in it, and the size it is. -
The 5793 is a beast in games, I play all my games at full gfx, 1920x1200 with no problems (this doesn't include crysis).
Centrino2 is simply a marketing term that includes a montevina core2duo, an intel chipset and intel wireless, so centrino2 includes core2duo, but if you mean montevina vs. santa rosa (last gen procs - in the 5793) then theres really not much difference except that MV can take quad cores (although the current 5796 can't handle them and they're not out yet).
that setup will get ~9500 3dmarks stock, but if you oc you should be able to bump it up to 10500ish. I get 11000+ with my x9000&8800M GTX (both oc'd) -
I see , well yea Ill be taking this to the university at least 2 days a week and to my gfs house daily maybe 17 inch isnt that good of an idea. thanks
ill take a better look at the 15 inch sager with 9800gts and try to get it as cheap as possible.
thanks -
I really had no problems taking my 570ru to classes/library on an almost daily basis. Just make sure you get a good backpack
