Basically what the title says, the scroll on the rhs of my touch pad doesnt actually scroll no matter how hard i press, it just moves the mouse pointer. i have installed the driver software for a Razer Naga along with the Razer Synapse 2.0 software.

If i remember right i was working as of a day or so ago, and it used to give me a message about setting up shortcuts on boot up, but it no longer does that. i checked my startup in msconfig and the synapse software is indeed set to come on at startup,

When i go int the control panel for mice and pointer devices i get this message, "Unable to connect to the synaptic pointer device driver.

If you have installed another PS/2 pointing device driver please uninstall the synaptics driver by clicking the yes button. You then need to reinstall your pointing device driver for your external device again"

This solution doesnt seem to make much sense to me because i dont want to always be using the mouse, i want the touchpads functionality still, what do i do?

It sounds like whatever software you just installed conflicted with the Synaptics software. You can try removing it to see if that functionality comes back. For what it's worth, I haven't seen a USB input device in a long time that required extra driver software to function. It's usually just for extra features.

Have you tried doing the two finger scroll gesture to see if that works? You just put down a finger in the middle of the pad and scroll with a second one.
