my specs (acquired from belarc advisor):

    System built on:
    Clevo Co. M570RU CLEVO:M570RU-1.00.02cS

    GPU:
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX [Display adapter]

    Hard Drive:
Seagate FreeAgent Go USB Device [Hard drive] (160.04 GB) -- drive 1, s/n 5MA1WWJN
    ST9160823AS [Hard drive] (160.04 GB) -- drive 0, s/n 5NK054JR, rev 3.AAB, SMART

So i just got Prototype, great game, would love for it not to lag quite so badly on lowest settings... so i figure this fine laptop might be able to take an upgrade. i know the w/nVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT w/512MB was offered with the 5790 a couple months after i got mine. Is that the only other gaphics card thats compatible? How much better is it?

if you know of any other hard drives that work with it would be nice to also have a faster and larger drive.

    any advice is greatly appreciated.

you can stick a 8800M GTX (aka. 9800M GT) in there.... pretty simple to find those since many people where selling them.

they are actually the same... spec wise and tech wise.

in any case, either will fit and run in your notebook.

just make sure to update the BIOS before doing so.

you can order it through Sager if you want.

    or look into:
    - most Clevo vendors should be able to get it for you
    - the NBR Marketplace
    - ebay

the man i talked to at Sager says that these cards are out of production, moreover he told me that the highest card that would work is the 7950GTX. i tend to believe Gophn that these other cards would work just because tech support guys are just parroting information they get from a guide, but can anyone else verify that it would work? i just want to be sure before i buy something off e-bay and can't return it.

Edit: Eurocoms site claims to have the 512 GDDR3 GeForce Go 9800M GT (16x PCIe; ;DX10; NB9E-DT2) for $720 USD, which seems kinda steep to me. Is that actually a reasonable price?

thats a rip off for $700.

call them to see if they will bring it down.

Sager is only following protocol... but the notebook can handle 8800M GTX / 9800M GT without issues.

I would not pay more than $300-400 for a new one with the heatsink assembly

As Gophn says, anything up to a 9800M GT should work fine, as long as it is mxm III/IV and you update your bios to the latest revision.
