Anyone had any experience of either ram in their m570ru? I'm more inclined to go with OCZ on past experience but corsair actually lists their ram as compatible with this laptop on their website... decisions decisions.

Both companies are great, honestly . . . just pick one and go with it. Notebook memory is generally the same all around unlike desktop memory so as long as it's coming from a reputable company and has a lifetime warranty, you'll be fine.

if you can overclock it then it's worth it... if not then go with generic.

stick with DDR2/667.... since the Santa Rosa platform only supports up to 667.

So if you get a DDR2/800 stick, it will downclock to 667 anyways... so its a waste.

yeah, went with the ocz, there never was any doubt i'd be getting the 667 instead of the 800 - it was nearly half the price. Had it only been an extra tenner or so i may of thought about it...

Believe me... We tell everyone who wants to buy 800 speed RAM on the 570RU that it will not speed up the system but some people INSIST they want it!

I am not sure why but it does happen!

lol kinda funny.. but just fyi if you run vista 32 it will only show 3.07 with the 5791 no more. no matter that ram tried. with vista 64 most have had the full 4gb shown i still can not "see" more than 3.8 even with 64 installed. i have tried 3 difference brands of ram now so that is not the issue

yup, only reason to spend the extra tenner would of been just incase one day i wanted the memory for a different laptop :D which is pretty unlikely...
