Would it be a mistake to order a w110er with i5-3210M? What effect would this processor have on battery life/thermals?
-
I ordered with an i3-2370M which is even slower.
It will run cooler, should give you a little extra battery life and of course was cheaper.
Since most games are GPU dependent and the W110er has such a small resolution, everything will be fine other than poorly optimized ports such as GTA IV.
Fact is, in a GPU dependent game, a 2.0 Ghz Processor and a 3.0 Ghz Processor can get around the same fps.
My laptop has been delayed, all chassis are held in customs so it will be a few weeks yet.
I assumed your question was in relation to gaming performance so it depends what your main use will be. -

Bah, man up and put a i7-3920xm in there and let the fan earn its keep!

would the i5 be sufficient for 1080p resolutions? I wouldn't mind playing on my 55 inch tv occassionally, hehe.

There are several laptops with I5-3210m that boast 1080p screens. You're good to go

650m especially with the DDR3 vRAM isn't really a 1080p gaming machine. Best to stick with 720p, all depends on game of course. See my benchmarks comparing 720p vs 1080p: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...10-clevo-w110er-first-look-review.html#gt650m

It is a good choice for battery life, but not so good for performance.
