I just recently bought a clevo w230st from a local reseller and due to high CPU temperatures (reaching 100 degrees celcius just from 'benchmark test only' on performance in 3dmark11) I have been attempting an undervolt of the CPU core. I have read quite a lot of people successfully reducing temperatures by lowering the core down to between -120mV to -80mV but when I even move the slider the slightest and then try to run a 3dmark test the whole computer automatically shuts down. I would much appreciate it if someone with more knowledge of the XTU software and undervolting could help me out with this issue as leaving the CPU suffering temperatures of 100 degrees, and beyond, does not seem like a viable long term alternative.

Sounds like the fan and heatsinks need some major cleaning, and you probably need to repaste the CPU as well. Actually, have you checked if the fan spins up at all when the CPU is under load? If your CPU is hitting 100 C when benchmarking, I don't think any amount of undervolting is going to fix the problem. The root issue is probably with the fan, heatsink, or thermal paste.

While the cooling in the larger systems is more adequate than that of the W230ST, it still should not be hitting triple digits. Before you go risking instability by undervolting, I agree with rhutor in that you should check the heat sink and compound application. Verify that the heat pipes are not damaged in any way as well!
