I just installed an i5 CPU in my new w870cu.
It seems to be running just fine, however the BIOS stops with a "microcode update needed" message or something.

I think the BIOS is fairly well updated. I think I could update it to solve the problem, but at the same time it doesn't make sense that only a later BIOS would support the i5.

Does anyone have any experience with this, and know of the update I need?

    Thanks.

A BIOS update is indeed what will fix your problem. As far as I know, later bioses added support for these CPU's.
