    want to add another partition on d901c with raid 5 array, will partition magic work?

    i want dual boot with this machine now and need to create another partition alongside the main parition (c :). can i use partition magic? will this recognize the raid array? i don't want to try blind-folded.

    What OS are you using? If XP, and the RAID array is shown as a single HDD in disk management then yes, PM will work. I have not used PM with Win7, I would suggest a newer product, Acronis Disk Director for Win7. If you are familiar with Linux you may be tempted to use gparted however most recent Linux distros will "see through" a "fake" raid (most motherboard raid setups) and unless you install and configure dmraid it will not work....unless you have a true hardware-based raid card (I am not aware of any notebook which has one).

    i downloaded a free trial of PM and it won't let me do anything, says to buy it. i downloaded another free partition program and it did not appear to recognize my setup as some of the options were greyed out. i will just do a fresh instal, screw it lol.
