    Are you serious?

Probably if you give it a lot of chocolate cake, chips, deep fried stuff, then it will get fatter.

    very funny

Ok maybe fat wasnt the right choice of words. I just heard from my friend that laptops can actually get thicker than their advertised thickness. I just want to know if its true or not.

Maybe if you put her on a diet she won't. lol.

Laptop chassis STAY one size bro - regardless of the amount of time you spend using it. lol...

Maybe he is talking about weight.

If so, the weight should not change much if at all from what is specified. 7 lbs.

In fact, no component could be added that could add to the already considered size or weight. So no worries.

I think he is trying to say does chaning the configuration when you order it alter the thickness. Different video cards, cpus are whatever will not make the laptop thicker. The package was designed to contain a specific range of parts.

Your friend may have seen the very slight cosmetic change on the M570RU to support extra cooling for the Extreme processor, but this was actually a product-wide chassis change, not just a change that was only made when a certain configuration was ordered. Incidentally, this didn't make the notebook itself any thicker. It just added ventilation for an extra fan and cut into a bit of the tapered thickness.

Laptop chassis, however, cannot change thickness. They are designed from the start to hold and cool any combination of available (certified) components.

The only possible thing might be a larger capacity battery, but even those are usually engineered to fit the same form factor as the standard battery.

As far as I know, Clevo hasn't announced a larger capacity battery. They tend to only offer a single battery for their systems, unlike Compal, who gives the 6-cell and 9-cell options (and in the case of the Compal systems, the battery sticks out the back, rather than making the notebook thicker).

That just means that it is different thicknesses at different points. The front is thinner than the back.
