Is there anyway to keep that from happening? maybe a registry fix/hack perhaps? I'd check myself, but I wouldn't know the first place to look in that plathera of keys and values. Then again, It's not a huge hassle turning it back on when you want to use it.

i don't know if it has anything to do with the drivers. the device simply turns off after a reboot.

so i guess i am not alone on this and it's how it is on eveyone's elses rig?

My guess is the fact that it's turned off on power up is intentional. Since there's no hardware indication on the laptop that the camera is active (at least on my M570RU), you'd have no way of knowing that someone was spying on you. Image some interesting new form of Spyware that glomped on to your webcam and sent a stream out to the world without you knowing about it. This way at least you have to manually turn it on first.

because it's software that turns it on or off.

    it's hardware.

you have to physically hit fn+f10 when you want to do this.

I suppose you could make a macro to hit those keys on startup tho.

Is there anyway to get the function key to be recognized on those 2 gaming macros? I couldn't do it.
