I've never had a downclock on XP 32 bit and I always use the newest drivers I can find.

I don't have Windows automatic updates on though - I just check the Windows update site often. Also, I only install security updates.

You say this happened with the 177.92 drivers? Did it start soon after you installed the 177.92 drivers or a little while later? You might want to try and re-install the new drivers again.Did you uninstall the old drivers first?
I also have the new 177.92 drivers in VISTA 64, and so far so good.

Nirvana, I just had this problem. I ended up resolving it by installing the latest Forceware drivers from laptopvideo2go.com.

The driver was 177.89. Might want to try that one if you haven't. Mine suddenly started downclocking as well. Might have been after a Windows Update now that I think about it...

    Hmmm...

I am going to try the driver ↑ suggested.

Mine card was downclocking (and staying downclocked) with Vista Home Premium. I did a fresh format and reinstall and the problems fixed. I was unable to find out what was wrong.

You can use Gpu-z to check if your card it down clocking while gaming, or I believe rivatuner has plugins you can use to monitor your system clocks while you are gaming.
