my NP9262 has a problem starting up. It starts up normally at first, gets to a screen asking me how I want to start windows, displays the windows splash screen, flashes a blue screen of some sort, and then starts all over again. THis happens independent of which choice I select. I tried using the windows XP disk to run the repair utility, but it says it does not detect the hard drives (there are 2 running in RAID 0, 7200 RPMs 100Gb). Neither does a ubuntu disk. THe ubuntu disk says it does not detect a screen or graphics card either. When I go into the F2 system utilities menu, it displays all the hardware, but it says only 1 Mb of RAM is allocated to hardware, which seems strange to me.
Some more info: The last time I booted it, yesterday, I happened to run a couple of utilities- I ran HD tune and it said all the sectors were healthy and I ran a registry cleaner.
So, what is the problem and how can I fix it? Or do I need to send it in? Reformatting the hard drives is a last resort right now.
Also, I plugged in my ipod into my other laptop and apparently I have a virus called Fujack in it, which is apparently a worm that propagates through USB devices.
Any help is appreciated.

Hmm..it sounds like you're a BSOD victim. You said u tried to repair using the XP Disk and had no luck...can u get into Safe Mode?
Shut down the computer, start it back up; then press the F8 key continuously until u get a screen w/ some options to start up in Safe Mode.
Edit: If u can get into Safe Mode see if u can access ur disks! -
Did you load the RAID driver when you booted the laptop off of the Windows XP CD?
That would account for Windows not detecting the hard drives since you are using RAID. -
Also, to the other poster, safe mode does not work, it results in the same thing -
Blue screen flash probably means you've got a driver problem somewheres that's causing a kernel crash or instability. Sounds like it might be your RAID drivers based on your response to the other posters.

You will need a USB floppy drive and a floppy disk.
Next copy the SATA RAID/AHCI driver to the floppy disk.
Using the Driver CD:
Click Start > Run... and navigate (Browse..) to CD Rom Drive:\Others\00Raiddriver\F6flpy32.exe and click OK.
Download:
http://www.eurocom.com/support/drivers/zip/D900C/XP32/00Raiddriver.zip
Please run F6flpy32.EXE in the archive.
Connect the USB floppy drive to the laptop.
Boot the laptop off of the Windows XP CD.
Press the F6 key when you see the message “Press F6 if you need to install third party SCSI or RAID driver”.
Windows will continue to load some additional files.
Press the "S" key to "Specify Additional Device".
Insert the SATA RAID driver diskette into the external USB floppy drive, and press Enter.
Select > Intel(R) 82801HR/HH/H0 SATA RAID Controller (Desktop ICH8R) - which should be the first choice.
After you have selected the appropriate option, press Enter.
The system will now read from the floppy disk drive and then return to the Windows Setup menu. -
I had exactly your same problem.
I solved it by installing another graphics driver.
The 175.xx and later drivers all work well for me. -
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
I had the same problem yesterday too.I had downclocked the GPU BIOS and tht was a reason.Another one was Mozilla. If you have that remove it.
I had to install Xp again. -

RAID drivers can be installed during the instillation process of Windows XP. Before it even gets into setup, it says something like "press f4 if you need to install a SSID or RAID driver". If all else fails, that's a sure way to get the drives you need.

You also have the option of slipstreaming the RAID drivers onto your XP disc if you feel very tech savvy today. Here is an article on doing that, though be warned that the author does use some course language in his instructions: How to Slipstream SATA/RAID Drivers -
nLite is the easiest to use for slipstreaming XP.
vLite is for Vista.
weird problem
