-
Don't be a stranger zfactor. Why the change to the m860tu? Need a smaller laptop?
-
well the wife and duaghter got hit tonight by a drunk driver i just found out when they got home i saw the cop car pull up and my heart stopped i thought i was going to hear much worse than what i did. so ill end up waiting a while to buy another system. i just refinanced the house and didnt have a lot of cash to begin with and the first 1000$ of this money will have to pay the deducatble to fix the car now..
everyone seems to be okay and doing fine. we are going tomm to get them checked out though to make sure. the guy had no lic and no insurance. he got a few tickets and prob a dui and will sad to say prob get a bit of jailtime (maybe) and then walk free... i seriously hate people that drive drunk.. i had someone hit me a while back same way.. but at least they had insurance.
im so pissed right now. -
Sorry to hear that z. Hopefully everything checks out fine tmrw at the doctor and there are no problems.

As said before, try not to do anything until tomorrow.Your mind will be much clear by then.
-
The charges should be more severe, slap him with some attempted manslaughter or something. god! -
yah im calling he police station tomm to see what additional charges can be filed. i just wish i was there i know all the local police/sheriff's and the local state police. they are mostly good freind of mine sine ive worked on all the vehicles for years for them. if anything can be filed it will be. i have a long time freind who is a hell of a lawyer and loves to win.. so if the guy has anything .. you know the story.. i could care less imo what ends up of him after that.. that was my wife and daughter .... most people dont know how hard it is and how you feel till something like this happens.. i mean they could have not come home.. but thank god they did
-
I am very sorry to hear about that Z.
I hope everything is sorted out, at least you loved ones are OK. -
thanks vedya... again much appreciated..
-
Already told my thoughts to Z.
Sorry guys, I also have decided to sell my sager, and already got a customer for it.
I`ll have it next to a XPS1730 pretty soon so I`ll have a good way to compare 2 super fast laptops and see which one is the better built one.
I`ll be staying on the S/C forum though, since this is the best place to learn new stuff, I am still regretting the fact that I couldn`t get a 9262 ... -

Don't leave Eleron,ever
-
Buy it, then sell it or a higher price then you bought (since its worth a lot more then 2k), and THEN get a D901c.
-
One day, someday in the future I shall return to being a Sager owner, but until then,I`m stuck with the dark side lol.
However, having the chance to compare these 2 laptops will probably make me appreciate the clevo built quality more.
We`ll see, I`ll do a full head to head battle
About the sell xps/buy d901c...I was actually thinking about it, but I want the 8800M GTX SLI system under 2500$. So it`s going to be hard... -
i tried m1730 before I bought the 5793. they both have their pros and cons regarding built qualities.
-
We`ll see.I also compared the sager to a an HP bussiness class , the 2.5year old one I keep advertising, and that`s a 10, whereas the Sager is a 8.5
I`m curious where the XPS will fit. -
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
I don't think M1730 is bad.Everything for good,Eleron
-
Let's hope so. I went to great lenghts to get it.
Will post pics of everything soon. -
IS this the one that was being sold on this forum?
-
i'm sorry to hear that zfactor, don't know if you can sue the pants off the guy? doesn't sound like he has much if he was driving without a liscense and insurance. I just hate it when repeat DUI or DWI offenders get off with nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

hope everything goes well zfactor. I narrowly escaped a drunk driver the other night actually. fortunately the light had just turned green for me and I hadn't picked up enough speed and didn't get hit. Wish your family well.

I am very sorry to hear about your travails; thank God your wife and daughter are still with you. I'm not sure where you live, so I don't know what all the local laws and rules are, but I do recall a little legal measure that was available in Virginia, in the US, that could be used to at least make sure the miscreant won't forget the consequences of his actions too soon. The measure itself was what was known as a "warrant in debt" which, basically, was used to enforce a debt, including an unsatisfied judgment, against a nonpaying debtor. The warrant itself could be renewed every 10 years (I think that was the time period) until the debt was repaid, so it could effectively end up being perpetual. Basically, the warrant itself makes the debt a matter of public record, and gives you rights to enforce against anything that might come into the debtor's possession (subject, of course, to an allowance for minimum cost of living), and, most usefully, puts everyone else on notice that if they put anything into the debtor's hands - like a car-dealer selling him a car on credit - that their security interest in the asset will be junior to yours, and that you have the right to, e.g., have that car seized and sold at auction, free and clear of the dealer's security interest, and the proceeds handed over to you before the dealer gets a penny. Almost no-one is going to take that sort of risk, and the continual inability to buy things on credit is a reminder of the pain he caused to others. Mind you, it's unlikely that such a measure would ever actually produce much in the way of money, but it is a way of leaving a more permanent mark on the ba***rd than the collision apparently did.

according to a freind (local sheriff) i just spoke with this is his 3rd offense in the last year. he has had 2 other dwi's in another states but i guess for what ever reason he was able to get away without jail time somehow. needless to say now that a few freinds know about this on the local force they said they will make this as bad as possible for him this time around. most of them know the judges also that will hear this so they said they WILL get something done about it this time.
i simply am astonished and VERY upset that this is his third offense with only a slap on te wrist prior...that makes me very angry
i mean yeah they took his lic away but apparantly that doesnt do much good today -
I wonder, though, whether the fact that he's had so many recent arrests, which necessarily implies that he does it on a regular basis since no-one gets caught each and every time they DUI, would support something like an involuntary incompetency proceeding (doubtful) or a permanent injunction in a civil damages case permanently barring him from ever getting behind the wheel of a car, ever. If an injunction of that sort could be obtained, it would become much, much easier for the police to pull him over and arrest him because the mere fact that he was behind the wheel again would be a violation of the injunction and an act of civil contempt against the issuing court. Again, I haven't done any research on that, so I have no idea if it would fly, but if he's such a compulsive repeat offender, it seems to me that at least some of the factual premises for an injunction already exist. -
im not sure where they were before. ill ask though. yeah all i know is the people i know will stick this one to him good. he hit the wrong people this time (or i should say maybe the right ones to get his a@@ off the road)...
-
Hey Zfactor.
Sorry to hear this. I hope nothing turns up att he hospital!
That being said, as this discussion is more evolving into a legal direction, I have to admit I'm a bit astonished by how you people think. While I do understand that there's a big difference when you (or your loved ones) are the victims of a crime (of any sort), I think it's so wrong to use your influence with others (police/judge/...) to get someone a harder punishment. That would mean that no longer everybody is equal, but that some people are more equal than others because they know this or that person. That would put us a few years back in history, wouldn't it?
Just my 2 cents
And Zfactor, that doesn't mean i don't understand you. I might even do the same if I were in your shoes. But, since I'm not in your shoes, my opinion is slightly different than yours, without understanding the pain you feel. Again: good luck! -
well okay understand this point... this is the third time in a year he has hit someone drunk. this does not count his previous incidents. normally it may or may not mean so much to me. and while yes i hate to say this i hope the guy rots in jail, im am wanting to prevent this again. see i was lucky. my wife a daughter are still here. i do not know what i would have done if they were not. honeslty id prob have hunted the guy down. seriously. my main goal for him to have a harder more permanent puishment it to prevent him from killing your child (you may not have one but you get my point) or someone else's wife and child.
while yeah i totally want to see the guy get screwed i normally would not be pulling strings so hard maybe if they didnt tell me this morning about this guy..
understand more now?? -

hey z,how's everything holding up?Did you do a check up on Wife and kid?
Life isn't fair especially for some people. -
im taking them to the doctors here soon. they seem okay just really shook up. the wife said her shoulder hurts. so we hope nothing is wrong. of course the baby cant tell us really so we are getting her a full checkup poss some x-rays

With respect to law enforcement officers, it is wrong to use personal connections to obtain favors that are not available to you under the law; it is not wrong to use a personal connection as the means for asking that the police do their best to bring a wrong-doer to justice. For example, if I know the Chief of Police personally, it is not wrong for me to call her (or him) up and ask that s/he push the investigating officers to be extra diligent; it is wrong if I call her/him up and demand that extra-legal measures, such as willful violations of the Miranda warning right, be used in my case - or that the police use a little "physical" persuasion on the perpetrator and then forget about actually bringing the case to prosecution (where it would, obviously, be tossed out).
That is, unfortunately, a simple fact of life and of human nature. Look at what so-called dispassionate justice, totally devoid of any connection to human reality, got this DUI'er in the first place - slaps on the wrist for what, to my mind, amounts to attempted homicide, at least after the first or second offense - if you know you have a propensity to drive drunk, and you continue to get drunk and do not do something to keep you from then driving, you are no better than a person who, knowing that the apartments on either side of yours are occupied, nonetheless loads up his .50 caliber Desert Eagle:
and proceeded to wave the thing around randomly squeezing off shots - if, God forbid, one of those rounds happened to hit a mother and/or a child after penetrating the party wall, that person would be guilty of at least criminally negligent homicide, if not worse.
Repeat DUIs are doing precisely the same thing, only with a more lethal weapon - a high-speed projectile weighing at least 2 thousand pounds - remember, it's not the velocity that kills, it's the kinetic energy that's transferred to the victim's body.
So, in short, Zfactor is perfectly justified in using personal connections to reach out and urge that the law be enforced to the fullest extent; he's not entitled to urge that extra-legal measures be taken, but then again, that's not what he's doing.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015 -
Sounds pretty crappy Z.... sounds like your taking care of it well though good luck and hope everyones ok..
back on topic~
Get a new Sager dude!!! -
-
So, to get a wee bit more back on-topic (based on the thread title, at any rate
), perhaps this thread should be rechristened the Sager/Clevo Alumni Thread, so there's a single point of reference for those who've had to part with their systems to come back and reminisce?
-
Not from me. Everybody knows how much I love my Sager and how hard it will be for me to let it go...
-
okay everyone seems to be fine.. the doc just wants both of them to take it easy and get some rest for a few days. he said they couldnt find anything wrong besides a few small bruises. so i feel a little better about that..
-
THAT is really, really, REALLY good news, Z. So glad to hear that your family is OK, and survived that ordeal without major injuries or worse.
