i wish more info would hurry up and leak about this. i am seriously interested in one. if it not happen soon, i just keep this and get eee 901 maybe.
-
Well if PCMW does not release by the 2nd week of June then I am going to think that it will be released by July 13th the earliest which is to late for me. So i will probably cancel and go with the Horizon, (5763) as PCMW said they would give me the $500 dollar discount for that if i wanted to switch it. And yes i would be a bit dissapointed

seems like most of us are cool with waiting. It kinda sucks but set backs are inevitable. the strange thing is that PCMW hasn't told us it will be set back..
-
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
I will definitely cancel the order.
-
It depends. I am cool with it for now because it is relatively early and I have no problem with waiting. But if by June 14th they don't even send a notification to their customers explaining the situation, then I may cancel. There is a line between a reputable company, and a shady one. The more they keep us in the dark on such a large purchase, the more they are crossing that line, IMHO.
-
I know Clevo's time-frame for their release of models... its usually very prompt.
Their M860TU is supposed to be shipped out to their importers/distributors by Q2 2008.
I feel that those units will ship out at that time frame of late June [to early July]... at the latest.
However, Clevo would probably prohibit any sales or marketing of the unit until Intel launches Montevina... since they [Clevo] are an Intel partner.
So the units will probably be in the warehouses [of importers/distributors], but wont be shipping to customers until Clevo gives the thumbs up.
Be patient people.
-
What`s the big deal? Initially I was supose to get my laptop in about a week and got it 1 month later, but did not change or cancel the order.
It`s cool, delays on new models are to be expected.
Besides,it`s Intel`s fault. -
It's good to see some folks have a healthy attitude; after all, as has been said many times before, and as will no doubt be said ad nauseam in the future, when you play on the bleeding edge, expect to bleed every once in a while.
-
eleron's car is cooler than yours shyster.
-
Lol, no pun intended I bet.
Jeez, if we have to wait, we'll wait, the only way I'll pull out is if PCMW goes and pulls some rasta man price on us by charging us more cash after our initial payment due to 'unforeseen costs'. -

You might as well cancel now; the M860TU is not going to begin to ship before July 14 at the very earliest when the Montevina chipset is released, and it might not even ship before mid-August, when the full Centrino 2 platform is launched.

So those guys are liars?I am not talking of the wimax and wifi.
-
apperently yes.... i have spoke with a few people i know in the industry about the montevina platform and they have agreed that NO ONE will have these when they are promising..
-
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Another blow to confidence
-
Agree,lets kill intel!
-
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
The guy I spoke even said they had a few samples there
-
well rambo they may very well have a few samples already...the issue is if they choose to ship them ahead of intel's schedule and if they do you can prob expect intel to come down on them with some sort of a lawsuit which we both know they will not win.. as paladin said if they are in fact not intel authorized direct then they will have serious legal issues to contend with if they release early im sure. just like there are resellers who have 9800's already to "test" they are not to be sold though
-
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
That's right in a sense. But if it works well then good IMHO.
-
Well, can't wait till then, so I guess I will be getting the m57ru!
-
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
I really don't know what to do.I hope they will send it out as promised.
-
Rambo, its your choice, your money. You can pull out at anytime.
-
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Ya they havn't taken it as of yet.I think they would take it before a week of sending it out.
If they can meet the time as promised and there are not temp issue,I would be a happy man. -
It`s not a competition , I change the avy weekly, like to keep things fresh.
I`m not sure this is the best sugestion, PCMW are a reputable company that are subject to Intel and Nvidia`s releases just like everyone else. But they might still make it as the first ones.
Don`t jump to conclusions, agitation will lead to unforeseen bad choices.
Think of it this way.
You made an order right? You already are on the list.
If you cancel now and go with another company, you`d be back on the list after other pre-orders.
If you can wait till like mid July, I say wait. It`s worth it. -
Really? My '76 Lincoln Continental Mark IV, pale yellow with brown vinyl roof, was both (i) pimped, and (ii) outrageous, right off the lot. Massive chrome grille, chrome trim all 'round, power everything, real leather seats made of high-grade saddle leather (Corinthian, Schmorinthian - that just means "paper thin"
), an empty curb weight of 5,600lb (about 2,545kg), and a 460 cubic inch ford V8 (that's a displacement of about 7.6 litres for the rest of you) with a whompin' big 4-barrel carb and dual exhaust (back in those days, almost no-one, not even many "performance" cars, had dual exhaust).
As Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen sang:
"My pappy said, 'Son, you're gonna' drive me to drinkin'
If you don't stop drivin' that Hot Rod Lincoln'" -
do we even have 23 people ordered m860tu?
-
i was wondering that myself. maybe you can make a roll call, lol!
-
We,as in NBR?
Probably. But since it`s an open forum, everyone can exchange
and say what they`t do in case of.
I already said I`ve waited for my sager 1 month instead of 1 week. So no harm done. -
dang. your car weighs 700 lbs more than my truck empty and has 3.2 litres more displacement.
i think they call that car the "Big Nasty".
-
And it sings sooo lovely when the pipes are off!
The 460 V8 was one of God's gifts to us; it's too bad that ford and the 70s eventually spoiled it
(but then, that's what we tend to do with most gifts from God).

Hi Eleron;
i can live till mid July without a gaming laptop. So they have to keep their words. -
you need a fleetwood. and when you get one mod the trunk into a jacuzzi and put a full bar next to it.
-
Had I a fleetwood, I think I'd do some stealthing instead - there's nothing more amazing than something that looks like an oceanliner but performs like a racing yacht. Something that's actually a little more realistic (but only a very little
) is doing some serious stealthing on the 99 Grand Marquis we have out at the in-laws:
With a little...imagination, these things can get deadly serious while still looking for all the world like your granny's Sunday-go-to-church car:
As the author of the original webpage puts it:Notwithstanding the generally atrocious suspension (as far as performing goes), it has a lot of room to grow and has a lot of potential, particularly if it has the most important component of all - a driver who has body sense for the car, that is, has a gut-level comprehension of the car's physical boundaries and its physical limitations - I have several times smoked wannabes in very expensive, very hi-perf autos on the LIE - my favorite being certain exit ramps with curves that start out two lanes and end up one lane before they merge into the next roadway.
Anyway, that's probably about as much off-topic as I'm going to be allowed on this thread, so - smoke em if ya got em! -
off topic but...........interesting......
-
who said it's off topic? we're just waiting for our m860tu and passing the time...or other cars...
-
he did ^_^!!!
-
I'll be substantially more angry if they try and ship something in June that isn't the complete centrino 2 package.
I'll have to wait till july for the new GFX and Qx9300 anyway but if I were in the early boat that go theirs in June I would be checking over my parts very carefully indeed. -
I)ickie, Donald from powernotebooks had confirmed that the early montevina WILL NOT come with 300MB/sec a/g/n wifi card, which makes it incomplete.
-
I understand that if they ship the montevina without the intel wireless it won't be centrino 2.
however on the Edge laptop main page they have the centrino 2 badging so we should expect no less. -
maybe you will get a backorder slip for the wifi card upon delivery.
-
@Nirvana - the early edge will come with 300Mbps 802.11n, it just won't be INTEL 300Mbps wifi...the INTEL bit is the requirement for centrino2...
-
lol if you will get that angry for a 50 dollar part that you will most likely not see for another month and a half, where otherwise the computer would be PERFECT, then you are getting mad for the wrong reasons.
-
I've never liked Intel's wireless cards though. Maybe getting the one PCMW is offering is a blessing in disguise.
-
not in this case. the card we will get only supports N frequencies. the intel one would include 2 others.
-
What? You mean that PCMW's initial M860TUs will ONLY be able to transmit at N frequencies... or that Intel will be able to transmit at two frequencies that are not currently in use?
-
No N card on the market only supports N frequency. That it suicide! Noone would have use for it. Plus, the N build is supposed to be backwards compatible just like the G. Which is why they always put AGN when describing a wireless N card. (The B is implied and I guess it would have created too many letter by putting it in).
-
Yeah, that's what I had been assuming when looking at the AGN cards, since very few people actually have an N-frequency router yet
-
oops, sorry, my mistake.
-
I just wanted to show that some people already have the Montevina processors in stock and in production. You will see the first 2 "P" series processors as in stock. Not to mention despite the strange balance of uber computing power vs. uber weak graphics (sorry for the over use of the word uber) it is a pretty decent bargain for the PM45 Chipset.
Here is a link.
http://www.pioneercomputers.com.au/products/configure.asp?c1=3&c2=13&id=2523 -
greyreap, thanks for the info. It's not that PCMW don't have P processors in-stock, but Intel haven't officially announced it yet. thus PCMW are not suppose to sell them at this moment.
what happen if M860TU don't ship before July from PCMW?
