Check the power adapter. I had another brand and that seemed to be the problem when it started doing it.

On the same line as kl5167, have you ever noticed the beep when you are running on battery power? If so, then it wouldn't be the AC adapter. You might also want to check the Event Viewer (Under XP, Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer) for any log entries that pop up at the same time as the beep.

You may want to try running the computer on your battery for a while, just to see if the beeping noise crops up. Does the AC adapter feel really warm? It's possible that the adapter is getting too hot and issuing a warning beep.

I agree look in the events log. There should be something there to point you in the right direction.
