So Im going to be ordering a sager np9150 from Xotic PC and I was wondering what kind of discounts I could expect to get.

I know they have the student and cash rebate ones plus the free shipping but I had heard that if you call the sales department they can set you up with a little better of a price. I was wondering what exactly that meant.

In case it matters the laptop is coming out to around $1,700. I heard something about a 50$ on over $1500, but Im not sure if that was true or where I saw that.

Srry if this is the wrong forum for this but xotic PC is closed right now so I couldn't call them and just ask. My parents (grad gift) want to know how much they should expect to be paying and how much of that I will have to contribute. So having a better estimate of the price point would help. Thanks

EDIT: why didn't my title become bold?

    Can't bold a title.. Isn't necessary anyways.

You have to contact them for discounts. They don't always give the same discount for everyone, that's why thu say to contact their sales dept. they may be able to find a bit of wiggle room, but I wouldn't count on anything other than the student/cash that they advertise

yeah I figured I would only be able to get the student/cash discounts but I was just wondering if anyone else had luck getting a better discount. I will definitely call them tomorrow to haggle my price down as much as I can :).

The sense of entitlement regarding Sager laptops is just absurd. Deal with any other manufacturer/seller and they would laugh at you for trying to "haggle" prices.

Not to mention everyone demanding availability of the 7970M.

Nothing wrong with trying to haggle. The worst they can do is say no. You have no reason to judge. Don't hate.

Really? You can Haggle with Dell all day long and you will come out ahead. You can go to Best Buy get a manager and Haggle and come out ahead. Why would you not feel Entitled to try and save yourself some money?

If your to lazy to haggle don't, but don't dump on the people who know how to negotiate and try and get a better deal.

Attempting to get the best possible deal for your money is not entitlement. Entitlement, in context, is the, normally erroneous belief that you have a right to something. Haggling is understanding that you have a decent amount of hold over the purchasing process, especially in regard to the laptop market.

Haggling is the standard process for the majority of the world, and most other markets. As already stated, large computer distributes such as Dell, HP, and Lenovo; as well as retail outlets such as Best Buy, and not to forget other things such as automotive purchase (this is likely the most well known place to haggle), general purchases (you can often get awesome deals if you're smart enough to ask), and the like.

Have fun paying full price for everything. Negotiating is part of life. With your attitude, you'll always pay more for goods and be paid less for the same job compared to your peers.

not really, back when I used to use Dells, I would always call and shave off a couple hundred bucks off the final price (with their XPS and Alienware line).

Military discount is 35$ and when combined with cash discount you only get 2% and they take away free shipping. In the end I only ended up saving a couple of bucks so not much of a discount. And you can't combine NBR or student or any other discount.

    Crap I say crap.

Does the NBR discount combine with the free shipping/3% cash?

No it's not really a better "deal". By having the consumer pay in cash it is better for them instead of using credit cards that offer the consumer more protections if there is an issue with the service provided and allows none payments, kind of like a stop on a check.

With cash payments(oh btw you pay the transfer fee which is normally $20-$50 depending on your bank) there are much few options given to the consumer in case there is an issue.

The company does have to pay the credit card company's a % on every purchase, but you as a consumer lose out by not gaining any points, cash back, and protections offered by a credit card.

In the end they should honor ALL rebates and discounts combined with the normal ones. Ie 3% with NBR/military/student and free shipping. Not a cheap end customer service idea of if we give you this we take that.

Again I say this policy is complete crap and is sh***y customer service.

Actually the NBR discount stacks with a few others.

You can also get the cash discount by sending in a check/money order. The fees mentioned for a bank wire are determined by the bank you send from. There are many that dont charge, but I have also heard of high amounts around $30 as well. For that you'll want to check with your bank to see what their fees are.

The reason we offer a cash discount is not because of credits cards and their added protections, its your other point of the fee charged by the credit card companies. The fees average 3%, when you don't use a card we dont get those fees and we pass those savings on. Honestly I do a lot of shopping online as I'm sure al ot of you do too, and I have never ran across any other site that does that beside the customized computer sites that frequent here.

If you'd like to know which discounts you could get and which actually do and do not stack feel free to PM me.

I asked both my sales rep micheal and erin about discounts and told them I had military and NBR and would pay cash and was told my 3% reduces to 2% and the free shipping is taken away as well. I bought my computer during the pre order discount time frame of the new sagers.

What you are posting on the forums and your business practices when it comes time to order are two different things.

Would be nice if you actually honored the discounts that were combined. In my case 50 for pre order 35 for military 3% cash discount and free shipping. All I recieved of them was 2%, $50 for pre order, and military.

So was it worthwhile to try and hangle or better just to take the discounts online?
