mine doesn't power down all the way. leaves fan on and cpu and it get hots after awhile. i can't have this going no because i had it left on for 8 hours the other day like that after standby was working fine. will windows repair disc fix it or some registry tweaks?

close the lid standby. timeout standby works fine.

I know this is too obvious, but in the control panel under power, do you have the "close the lid" option set to sleep for both battery and plugged, and then under "advanced power settings" make sure they both are set to sleep under
"power buttons and lid" for each power plan you use? For some reason they may be set different for each different plan, and not sleeping. Mine were set to do nothing in 2 of the power plans. -
i've done it all. everything is good. i've even clicked on something else like shut down and then went back and applied sleep and it won't sleep right. not on button. not on close lid. not manually.

I have the same problem but it is very rare. I press standby but the laptop stays on and the fans spin and I can't revive it, I have to hard shutdown. It has only happened like once a month though so I can live with it.

mine is happening all the time. it hasn't worked right not too long after i reinstalled win7. i had the once in a while issue with my np2092. yeah, i could live with that. this is happening all the time. i'm fairly sure it's a software issue.
