im just wondering what the battery life is like on a sager NP5793, im considering buying one with maybe a 8800M GTX or the 8700M GT, im not totaly sure yet. also i would be going with the 7200RPM HDD and T9300, 4gb ram, blu ray drive and 1gb turbo memory.

also what does turbo memory do *looks around* im a laptop noob :)

i pumped out roughley 2.5 hrs on my 5793

    specs:

    8800M gtx
    T9300
    intel memory
    4 gb ram
    200 7200rpm HDD

not too bad for a hardcore lappy.

and yeh, i coudlnt get my intel memory to work either so i cant help yah there.

its supposed to be an extra cache so you can load app's and shutdown/startup faster.

2.5 hours on a GTX :O, was that like gaming or surfing or what, and pretty much the setup i would want :), not sure if i want to pump out THAT much money though, i will have to see.

i really wana know the difference of battery life between a Peyrn and a Merum ... Some nice specials in Australia on what i think are NP579(2) that have the 8800 but not a peryn rather a T7700..

if battery is about the same and only just abit hotter ill prob go for it. any one have that kind of data?

You don't have to. There is an older review on the 5791 (which had a 8700M).
Penryn will offer more battery life (I'm guessing more than 10 - 20 minutes), up to 50% in performance (rare cases), normally around 10%.

2-2.5 hours sounds about right. 1.5 h max for gaming.

Wow, I'm impressed with the time. Would it run longer if you were to downclock the videocard and processor? Is there a way to do that while booted up? I know I'd use rivatuner to down all the gpu's clock, but how about the CPU?

If you use the PowerMizer settings for max battery, then it will downclock the videocard.

there is also a program (forget what it is) that lowers the CPU voltage to the min. stable voltage, there are tons of ways to get better battery life, but WOW 2.5hours with a 8800M gtx, the 8700M GT should get a little bit better life. also thats a pretty power hungry HDD in that system at the top as well. wonder what a solid state HDD would do for the battery life XD (no way i could afford one but maybe a slower HDD would bring it up)

if i can find a setup that will last 3 hours i will be VERY happy. GEEZ and i just desided to go for a G1S-B2 before i found out about sager

im stuck between waiting for all T7700 going out of stock to get a T8300 or just get the 65nm chip..

does the T7700 make the laptop louder... (its hard to tell from reviews)

no ones actually reviewed a NP5793 with a non extrema peryn :(

guess its waiting for a T8300 review for me..

as far as the 8800M GTX is concerned
people are getting 4 hours on stealth mode(underclocked GPU etc) on the m15x and 5+ hours on the integrated gfx with a T7700... (and thats not even inc the smart bay battery).. seems like the 8800M GTX drains alot less than people thought.

i bet u could get 3+ hours on the NP5793 if via software etc u created your own stealthmode setup like the m15x

Isn't that what Gophyn was talking about? To use PowerMizer?

Or you could use atitool to setup profiles to change with a key combo ;)

Give me a post where it says the exact battery life of the M15x (with integrated/dedicated GPU), as I haven't run into one until now.
Second, translate this article about the M570RU-U with the T9500.

its on this forums i honestly don't have time to dig it up but some guys over in the alienware forum said that they got 4 hours (prob on stealth mode and with smart bay battery) with the 8800 GTX being used (not gaming).. and 5 hours with on board..

this matches what the alien ware techs said of 4 hours in stealth mode and about 45mins more if run on binary (integrated gfx).

i assume with a under clocked GTX u could get the NP5973 to last longer than 2.5 mins?.... i really wana make it last 3+ hours if i cant i may have to get the alienware <_> a grand more for bubble the battery life is kind of worth while... in the long run

The test was done with a smart bay battery and a normal battery in the system. Not going to be normal for a lot of people.
