Running cpu-z & everest all day already and somehow the cpu-speed is always @2,4 Ghz (the minimum speed) and never goes up to 3,5 Ghz.

HwInfo says that Turbo Mode is enabled... so normally I should get the boost when only 4 or 2 or 1 core are used? But 4 cores are ALWAYS getting used?

    Thanks

    @edit:
well everest shows it like this:

    CPU#1 / Core #1 / Unit #1= 0%
    CPU#1 / Core #1 / Unit #2= used
    CPU#1 / Core #2 / Unit #1= used
    CPU#1 / Core #2 / Unit #2= used

Turbo is enabled when you run tasks that require the full CPU. For example, if you were to run a video encode, or turn on some virtual machines, the CPU should automatically increase the turbo. The speed is determined by the number of cores being used- the more cores you need to turbo, the lower the max speed over all of them.

Run something like Prime95 on 1 core (then 2, 3, etc) while running CPUz or HWMonitor and you should see the frequency increase.

Also, to add on to what Malibal said, the fact that you're seeing the cores always on is not unusual. Turbo mode should get activated when running Prime95.

Well.. I ran a game which made CPU1 at 100%.. but turbo mode didn't get enabled :S Also I tried to view some CPU-Stresstest video file and turbo mode wasn't enabled.

@edit: just realized that during the 3dmark06 benchmark, hwmonitor only showed the temps of 2 CPU-cores  Is that normal?

Anyone can tell me how I can log the cpu speeds to see if I ever get the turbo mode?
It's also strange that Everest & HWinfo tell me that I have 2x 2,4Ghz instead of 4x 2,4 GHz

    thanks

Hmm. Did you see if Windows' built-in performance monitor helps?

Click on the start orb and type in perfmon and hit enter. Then play around and see if there are some items you'd like to use.

Oh I always forget about perform.. how ever, with Processor Frequency selected, nothing will show up :/

Thanks, I hoped for something that shows the current speed for each core.

Anyway, I installed it and ran an old game which only supports single-core. So I had this game running on CPU1 which was at 100% usage. CPU2 was at 2% usage and CPU3 was around 10% usage (had thunderbird, firefox and skype minimized in the backround). CPU4 was at 0% usage. Intel turbo boost was at 2,4Ghz (so the minimum speed).

Shouldn't cpu2 & cpu3 become one so that only 2 cpu's are active and there for the intel turbo boost gets activated? Also: How should I ever geht the 3,5 Ghz (which means only one CPU is active) when even windows (without any apps running) uses atleast 2 cpu's ?

@edit: was all my fault.. had 2 cores (4 CPU's) disabled in windows.. now they are enabled and actually intel turbo boost is active all the time :p
