I'm going to order a 5950 in the next few days, but don't know where I should order from. I've been to sagers site but then there are like 20 other stores that sell it! I'm a little dissapointed there is an ETA on the 7900's. is there any store that may have some prefab'd in?

Resellers are getting the 512mb 7900 cards today. I ordered mine from discountlaptops only because I had been talking to Mathew, the guy in charge of orders adn stuff. I ordered a 9750 which just went into production today. He helped me alot. Also, they offer their own accidental damage protection warranty thing. The ADP was ultimately the deciding factor for discountlaptops though.

There are several representatives that frequent the board here from other sites as well, and their sites are just as good to order from. The prices are the same, that is. Donald (paladin) is here from powernotebooks.com and some other guy (I forgot your name, sorry)from xoticpc.

I spoke to someone from powernotebooks while I was researching and whomever I spoke with seemed very nice and helpful. I spoke with a rep. on two different occasions.

I was very happy with both companies, discount laptops and powernotebooks. I'd buy from either one of those guys again. The fact that Donald from powernotebooks posts here is definately a plus for powernotebooks and the ADP from DL is a plus for them. Up to you to decide.

but either way it sounds like you would buy from them over sager? also I am going to pay with a money order and I know some of the sites offer a 2-2.5% discount for that. I guess that also should be cosidered

    thanks for the response!

Sagernotebooks.com is more expensive and I hear it's easier to go through resellers if you need to make use of their warranty or CS stuff.

I recommend ordering from a dealer because the prices are less and the service is better. My preference is toward PowerNotebooks.com since I ordered from them and the service was top-notch.

I agree with Chaz, powernotebooks is a wonderful dealer. They go out of their way to make sure your experience is a pleasant one--and they then give you lifetime support for your laptop. Also, when you order, call in and see what kind of wonderful specials they are offering at the time.

    np :)

The best choice would be to order through a Sager reseller as there will be more customizations available and better warranty/customer service.

The ETA of the 7900GTX512 for the 5950 is 7/15.

None of the resellers build the Sager laptops...Sager builds them and then drop ships them to the customer. So, if Sager doesn't have them...no one does.

There are other OEMs that buy their laptops from Sager and put their brand on them, but they don't get them any sooner...actually they get theirs later because Sager builds for their resellers and begins shipping to the customer the same day that Sager ships to their OEM dealers.

Wait, so powernotebooks gives lifetime support? Man, I probably would have purchased from them instead, if I had known that..

I wonder if I should cancel the oprder with discountlaptops, give up ADP and go to poernotebooks since they have lifetime support...

    WHat do you think? =/

    I don't know.

Sager gives lifetime technical support (not warranty...just support) between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM Monday through Friday, and when you buy from DiscountLaptops you get that lifetime technical support from Sager.

The only difference with PowerNotebooks.com is that you get lifetime technical support 24 hours a day 7 days a week from our own technicians. If our technicians can't resolve your issue, we escalate it to the Sager technicians during their factory hours.

The best Accidental Damage Protection is actual insurance from www.safeware.com that not only protects against accidental damage, it also protects against theft.

Having said all that, I would stick with your order from DiscountLaptops since it is already in place, and you are at the front of the back order line. Sager should start building your new NP9750 within the next few days and it will be on its way to you :D

I looked under www.safeware.com website and cant find anything about... as in a example, if i insure a 5760 for the amount of 3200.00 the premium was 192. Now for 192 bucks, am i insuring for just 1 year? If thats right, wouldnt the ADP from discountlaptops be better with the price of 215 for 2 years be a better deal? How is the insuance better from Safeware, than from the program Discountlaptop has? Just wondering because im placing my order from DL tomorrow for a 5760. TIA

Don't miss this part: "...it also protects against theft."

The other difference is the SafeWare insurance is underwritten by an AM BEST rated "A" insurance company. Be sure to weigh that against what company stands behind the DL ADP coverage...I think you will find that are not an insurance company regulated by its State Insurance Commission, or even a publicly traded company. Insurance is only as good as the company that stands behind it.

I most definitely concur with this. I'm thinking about getting some SafeWare insurance as a backup. Even with ADP, its still a warranty, not insurance. Warranties are very limited (usually), especially when it comes to electronics. Even with ADP, the company most likely still gets to decide how best to settle any claims for damage, including sending it to them for fixing, sending you replacement parts, or replacing the entire system (where you may lose anything you have on it). With insurance, its the same as with a car (though hopefully less stressful)... you prove your claim under your coverage and they send you *money* and you decide how to use that money (heck, you don't even have to use it to buy a new laptop).
