why is there no battery dock for clevo top line models?

why is there no clevo laptop with decent battery life(more than 6 hours) just like gigabyte aero/XPS and ...
and why they don't add/make/sell a Battery dock like those hp ones which stick to bottom and get us 6 to 9 hours usage with especially gaming/workstations/supercomputers(p751/p755/p870/w650kj/p65XX for current models) ones . who doesn't need more gaming + regular usage on-time without being worry about the battery. if they can't install a bigger battery,ok, at least give us a decent battery dock to buy & go with... and I am still waiting for dual CPU + dual GPU in 18inch made by clevo with bezel-less design monitor and a premabios preinstalled or at least make stock better and same-wise bios.

another suggestion: for p75X/p7XX/P8XX series,as there is no thickness limit,why not make a whole new battery,completely covering bottom with ..this way, the motherboard could be bigger(for 2nd cpu {they may even make a dual socket type motherboard for 1st time in industry,one am4,one lg1151) or even make space for another fan or sth else they could come up with

I’m tired of hearing that this are “gaming” laptops.
I am 3d graphics artist working in a cinema industry and i often work somewhere in the fields without proper dc inputs. And all this gaming laptops are perfect for me to work on the go. But they dont last long. So i have to order separate dc generator

 

Because its illegal to sell more than 97wh in the US and also your already in a niche market that many consider for some reason is dying off.

 

To get an hour of full load would take a 200-330Wh battery which as above gets pretty awkward.

You are better off with a machine that targets a lower load level and will be more efficient at the 90w mark.

 

Just offer a dual boot mode that some of the MSI units have.
And maximize the batteries to the biggest legal size in addition to make them removable so that one can always bring a spare battery, an option to add an external battery pack would also be welcome.

Agreed on a bigger than 17" small bezel solution. I would like something that is sized like the MSI GT8x units but with a normal keyboard and a 19.5 to 20" 16:10 2560x1600 screen option - that would be a terrific workstation and gaming laptop. Not sure how much of a market is out there for such a device but I am sure that by making something as big as the GT83 but less ugly, with a proper LGA CPU and a bigger screen one would get more customers and not less.

Unfortunately even if manufacturers recognize a certain demand they have an issue with no proper screens being available for such beasts. There seem to be very few screen options once one goes beyond 17" and even at 17" the available 2560 x 1440 screen option has lower contrast and a smaller color space than most Full HD and UHD screen options.

 

No one makes larger panels and if they do they are behind the standard units in quality, features and price.

16:10 died years ago.

Removable batteries are lower capacity for the same size usually.

 

Clevo laptops have interchangeable battery. And i can buy some spares. But I didn’t see any external laptop battery charges.

if its a restriction,is it for one device or just one battery? if its in one battery , then again they can use 2-3 batteries of 97Wh just covering below entire surface!(so that by removing battery you get to motherboard & if they insist on doing old fashion,then the same bottom regular cover.
they can use the same space on the same surface level of motherboard for another fan(they may use new fan model like vacuume ones this way in the empty section to avoid the heating and channeling it towards the side,rather than the user belly) to change hot air flowing from bottom to sides.
it wouldn't be that difficult to use such structure/design and achieve 2 purpose(high usage time/better efficiency in heat management) at once
if its laptop,and workstation on top of that,it should be portable(and electricity needs worry-free) for many hours not just 1 or 2 hours.otherwise after 20years,heavy-work laptops arent still laptop/portable and they are just using the mask of laptop when their usage is only 2 hours at most for our wok on such built-purpose.

 

The Asus GX800 has a UHD screen that should be good, it is the only new screen in that size calss for ages.
Yes I know that 16:10 has only survived in macbooks but that does not make it wrong to mention that it was a screen aspect ratio better suited to a laptop than 16:9.
I would rather have a removable battery and let's say 10 to 20% less capacitiy if that means that I can exchange my battery when needed and without having to open my laptop and as there is a legal size limit anywa a 99WH battery isn't that big, I think I had a 96WH removable battery in a Thinkpad that I tested last year and it was not particularly big.

In any case having to open a laptop and unscrew the battery on the go is not really practical even though at home it is not that big of a deal with the Clevo P870 series.

 

I really wouldn't pay extra money for a bigger battery or battery dock or anything about that. If you really want to play games you have to do it plugged to the AC power outlet, not to mention if you're overclocking. To me this kind of laptops are semi-portable, you can easily move it inside the house or to travel from time to time but they are not your daily partner to go from home to work, then to college, etc. My back just can't take that kind of load to often

 

I took out the battery from my laptop 6 months ago and still havent looked back. If I need a terminal for on the go I would look into it.

 

Batteries for laptops and portable devices have to be under 100Wh in order to comply with IATA regulations - this is when travelling or shipping by air. If a laptop needs 2 batteries, it's "legal" to ship with 2x 99Wh batteries - this was a hot topic for us as we had this setup in our XMG Walker VR backpack and when shipping them round the world we (of course) had to follow IATA regulations.

 

It seems the major issue is power under full load which is approximately 250-330wt for clevo laptops. This is the power of charger. Not of the battery.
When charger is unplugged laptop will automatically drop its power usage to about 30-99wt.
If powerbank will be connected to the charging port , laptop will be trying to take all the power out of it and this will definitely damage it. If laptop will see that powerbank can’t give all the power it needs it will not use it at all.
To manage the problem we have to plug external laptop not to charging port rather than to battery connector inside of laptop.
It means that clevo laptops need to have some kind of external battery plug.

 

That and you need to get batteries that can output that level of power.

Much easier to have a terminal and remote to your workhorse.

for those who are interested, the only clevo with combination of cpu+battery power found,is the N650DU which in 7th gen,support till 7700 Desktop and in new released upgraded version, up to 8700 desktop(65watt cpu) coffee lake . this laptop by default has a 4200mah but there is 5600mah(64.4Whr) one too which in practice could give you more juice running laptop for more than 6 hours(some claimed till 9 hours which I don't think its true).as it's only one fan setup(as there is only integrated GPU{intel HD639} and no dedeicated graphic), using vaccume cooler like opolar or kilm

but that's it for now.

for those who need Just CPU Power and intel integrated GPU is enough,the best current laptops built for is N350TW/N350TV is the currently out, it support up to 3Hard, listed cpus support are 35W like 8700T but some like eurocom( model:comander2) has listed even 95W no-hyperthreading ones like 9700K ,so 65W cpu is acceptable(make sure to delid+UV+OC+Repaste if you can to get the best performance+temps possible)
it's listed up to 32GB ram support but again eurocom has listed up to 64GB ram.
eurocom sell it with 100W adaptor while default is only 65W one.
N350TW configurable in europe site
the most important thing is that it has thunderbolt3,so all kinds of docks and even eGPu(external graphic solution) if needed is now as an option availble .The battery used is 62Whr which should give enough juice for more than 3-4 hours and the support for LTE 4G m.2 is very appreciated.the thickness is around 33mm
