hey guys . i just bought a sager 5760 and maxed it out with everything : intel core2duo T7600, nvidia 512mb 7950gtx , 2gig ram , 100gig 7200 rpm hard drive ... however i was going through some sites today and i saw an abs computer i think its called mayhem and another one at widowpc forgot what its called . they look EXACTLY the same . the widow pc was 4400$ configured just like mine . and the abs was about 3400$ . my sager ended up being 3300$ . what's up with that ? is it really the same notebook ? and did i make the right choice by getting the sager or should i have gone with something else ?

Clevo is the manfacturer of the Clevo M570U. OEMs such as Sager, WidowPC, and Alienware re-brand it.

Actually, Sager is usually the average price that most people use to benchmark these Clevo notebooks.

But recently I have been doing heavy Clevo Reseller research and found out that WidowPC is a great place to buy from because they have a "Low Price Guarantee"... That means that they will match the price of the same notebook from anyone. Pretty sweet.

    -Gophn

P.S. Stay Tuned... I have been working on a Clevo Resellers thread (sticky) for 3 days now... that should hopefully be done by today. You can check it out for your needs and questions... such as:
    Who or What is Clevo.
What kind of Clevo notebooks are there?
Where would I purchase a Clevo notebook?
What is the best place to purchase a Clevo Notebook?

Yeah but have you actually tried to use their "low price guarantee?" I'd be weary about it until I heard something positive about it.

    I'll confirm from them directly.

    Thanks for the heads up.

My Clevo Reseller Info Thread is being formatted for forums now... it should be up soon.

I was pretty excited about the prospects of a WidowPC Sting with that cool Black lid for the price of a Sager NP5760. It would be quite a discount though.

That's a shame. But then again, the Sager looks great too. I wouldn't spend much more for a cosmetic change--unless one looked way better and in my opinion it's not that big a deal.

I'm also looking forward to that Clevo Reseller Thread, Gophn. It will be a great thread to link to in the future =).

Its should thoroughly answer the following questions:

    -Who or What is Clevo.
-What kind of Clevo notebooks are there?
-Where would I purchase a Clevo notebook?
-What is the best place to purchase a Clevo Notebook?

It will include an extensive Clevo reseller list that will include pretty much all of the sellers in North America, Europe, Australia, etc..

I have put at least 24 hours of research time into it, and its still going to translate and convert currencies. Here is a sneak peek:

Clevo resellers will be covering the following criteria:
Reseller Rating: from 0-10, the higher the better
Better Business Bureau (BBB) Rating: rating from BBB business region (grade or satisfactory)
Overall Customer Satisfaction: from Very Dissatisfied to Very Satisfied
Pricing: *from Cheaper to More Expensive (compared to other Clevo resellers)
Discounts: this would include Cash, Military, Student, and any other discounts
Price-Matching: either Yes or No, this also will including bargaining
Warranty: this includes Standard, Extended, LCD, and “Accidental”
Service and Support: from Below Average to Above Average
Shipping: this would include Domestic and International shipping

    * Pricing was determined by a certain configuration in a couple of notebook models. Sager was used as the center price. Deviations with a ±10% difference (or more) will mark the reseller to be cheaper or more expensive.

They do sell computers that do not have all the fancy crap on them. I asked for a plain notebook and they were happy to sell one. The Widow rep was talking about internal build quality and parts. Which is BS because I have the same name brand parts the rest of you have. I just dont think its right to post something like that on a website and not follow through with it.

That's disappointing. The only difference is the Black lid with Black widow logo on it. Thanks for the information.

Gophn...since the reseller margin is rarely as much as 10% for Sager laptops I think your price deviation should be smaller.

Also, since Sager resellers are regulated by MAP pricing you will find that the Sager resellers, as opposed to Clevo rebrander/resellers, will have virtually identical pricing.
