So I just got my NP9170 (then had to work for 9 hours before I could come home and play with it) and am planning on changing the wifi card to the one in my sig from the stock. There are several drivers that I have installed that may be related. The question is, which drivers do I need to uninstall before changing the card. I already have the drivers for the new card. here are the drivers I installed:

    LAN driver
    WLAN driver
    combo BT driver

Do I uninstall all or just some? Thanks

    Rory

You dont need to uninstall any unless you want to save the HD space the drivers take which is pretty minimal, but with an SSD every bit is precious. Leave the LAN driver but the other two can go.

Thanks, I uninstalled the bt and wlan drivers last night. However, now I am having issues finding my schools network. I can not pick up any wimax signals at my house and can pick up a few elseware. My school laptop will pick up many more signals and is running the same card. What do you guys think my problem is with signal range?

Did I maybe install the antenna/card wrong?
    Is the card defective?
    drivers/software issue?
    incompatibility issue?
maybe my schools signal is masked to outside computers? (is this even possible, I would think I would a least be able to see the signal even if I can not connect to it until I register the MAC address with my school.

I have been thinking of putting the card from my school computer into my sager to see if this resolves the problems. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
