Ive seen alot of people talk about this but no responses from people once they have upgraded/flashed etc..

i would really like to know beacuse my m860tu i running like a dream (and has been for 5months or so)... it does make some high pitch noise but its not to the point that its upsets me greatly.. (as the fans generaly cover most of it.)..

    Should i look into flashing..
    is it safe?
what is the latest clevo bios/firmware .... alot of people put up rapid share leaks n link that i really dont trust.

would like a respected forum members response.

flashing the BIOS is always safe as long as you follow the proper steps... as for the fix, i thought the whine had something to do with Bluetooth and the CPU?

only seem to mention 2 dif noise issues from both AC and DC power..

i just dont know how to upgrade the bios... Jack said in another thread that u need a set bios to be able to upgrade from the last... and i cant find a guide <_<

Right, Download the EC_10 & BIOS_113 from that link.

Now create a bootable USB stick using the guide in my sig.

Extract the EC_10 zip file to a folder on your bootable USB stick called KBC.

Extract the BIOS_113 zip file to a folder called BIOS.

plug in your USB drive and reboot.

Go into BIOS and ensure your USB stick is set as first boot device.

You should get a c:\ prompt when booted to DOS.

Make sure you do these steps in this order (KBC first, then BIOS)

type (without quotes) "cd KBC" (press enter)

    type "update"

wait for it to finish (following any on screen instructions)

    reboot leaving USB stick in.

when at c:\ prompt again type "cd BIOS"

    type "update"

wait for it to finish following instructions.

    reboot

go into bios and load defaults. check ahci mode is correct. boot into windows

It didn't fix the whining for me (I went up to .12, .13 makes it worse for me), it just made it softer.

I hope the next bios fix (.14) can cancel it completely.

Reporting in, .13 did not fix it for me either

Fun fact I noticed, turning silent mode on and off changes the tone of the high pitch noise :)

    EDIT:

Actually, its not a complete fix, but the noise is not there ALL the time, just some of the time now.
