Hey, finally received my sager np 8662 in the mail. Decided to install the OS on my own, so I put in a copy of windows 7 64-bit, similar to what another user on these boards did.

Just wondering about anything extra that I need to install? (the drivers CD that came with the laptop do not work on windows 7 apparently?...)

I'm downloading the nvidia drivers right now, I notice that I don't have the option to scroll with my trackpad. Do I need some type of driver for that as well?

I hope this works out well, or I might just install windows XP 64-bit and use the driver's CD that came with the laptop...

also, I'm used to being able to increase/decrease sound using hotkeys, then seeing the sound level display a bar indicating a change in my current laptop(dell latitude d610), is this a driver specific issue for the sager?

Install the drivers from the individual setup.exe from each folder-

The main installer does not work-

yea, just did that a few hours ago by experimenting around

I installed the 64-bit vista drivers, I dunno if that's correct. So far, most things seem to be working: synaptics touchpad, realtek sound driver, etc...

However, can't seem to get the biometric thumb reader working (which folder is it in?)

also, I installed hotkeys...what does that do?

I did the same thing as you when i got my notebook. For the drivers all you have to do is install them manually from device manager. You should also download the new driver from nvidia from its website. Windows 7 performance is great by the way. I would not go back to vista. Biometrics does not work for me either so more info on that would be great.

regarding the power options, I know on windows XP, you can configure the power button to prompt the user what to do (sleep, shutdown, etc)

However, in windows 7, it appears the power button options are limited to:
    sleep, do nothing, shutdown

but there is no "ask me what to do" feature, is this normal?

When you go into power setting options click on advanced. There should be very detailed options for every mode (power saver, ballanced, .... ) and see if you can find the setting you are looking for there. I do not have my laptop here right now - so I am not 100% sure this is correct - but I have feeeling it might be :)

actually it is on the page with power settings - look to the left - choose what closing lid does...
