    Heya
Been thinking about one of these beasts for video editing/live broadcast/encoding and such, but I'm wondering about the noise.
I've seen in some reviews that the cooling is good, but nowhere does it say anything about the noise (what I've found atleast) :(

Could any of you proud owners give me a short breakdown? Will I need to use hearing protection of some kind? :p

    Thanks / M

I've seen one report saying it was loud put under benchmarking loads, and a new owner yesterday saying it was amazingly quiet.

Mine turns up tomorrow... my theory is that when those four fans start roaring the thing is going to hover just above my desk, like a hovercraft. Lol

Haha, pics or it didn't happen!
I'd only get one GPU tho so should be a bit cooler. It'll mostly be the cpu heating up.
Would you be a lamb and report back after finishing wiping your tears of joy when yours arrive?

    ^^
For comparison - M17X: 41.1 / 52.2 dB under load and for many, that's crazy.
Personally, I like em loud, haha!

Since the fans suck air in from the bottom, it will actually attach itself to your desk and gradually meld it's feet into it. Also with the exhaust out the back, your desk will then start moving across the room - make sure you don't sit in front of it or you might get squashed into the opposite wall!

Dude how long you waiting for your laptop, I was sure last week you said you got a call from customs. How slow is your country and getting stuff done. This makes me happy to be in America, I order stuff and I get it fast.

Mine shows up today :) and no I will not be plugging it into a bad electrical outlet and asking for a refund. I will plug it into a UPS a nice one.

are the fans controlled by the temperature or by the power usage or something else? what i'm trying to get at is if the notebook is placed on a cooler with quiet 120mm fans, will that help prevent the small noisy notebook fans from blazing on?

According to the Anandtech review, it is above all the CPU fan that spins up. I therefore think it is sad and unpleasant that there are so few that offers the X7200 with the more energy-efficient Xeon processors. It would much solve problems with power supply and fan noise. It's just Eurocom that's offering them. Would also like to see AVA Direct, Sager and Kobalt etc.
