So, it appears that my goals of waiting out this year to hopefully get an 18/19 inch desktop CPU SLI/crossfire system are paying off. And Dell WONDERS why they've lost my business? Bahahah.

Anyways, I guess counting my turtles before they spawn isn't the best of ideas, but I'd love if this bad boy does what the x7200 does best, then does it better. And where it fails, it picks up the slack, and keeps things going properly. Here's to hoping!

    You mean to say:
Sandy Bridge 8 core Cpu with HT and 15mb lvl 3 cache (with the posibility of adding 10 core xeon cpu with 20mb lvl 3 cache)
quad chanell 32gb ram 1600 mhz
    kepler gtx 680m sli
3x500+ gb ssd on sata III
    18" rgb LED with 2560x1600 rez :D

That will blow my x7200 out of the water.
Funny thing is thought, the x7200 we currently have can come close in terms of GPU performance, by adding the 680 gtx sli, and replacing the cheap 950 with 990x, and 24gb triple chanell ram.

Now that we have the power, we, at least me, we're (im) starting to look at the accesories the laptops come with

    For instance, who wouldn't like:

    18-19" IPS LCD 2560x1600.
    All out magnezium alloy body
multiple choice illuminated keyboard with gaming keys, and why not optimus ( Optimus Maximus keyboard) style LCD equipped - mechanicle keys
Premium quality Speakers, camera, and maybe the possibility to add embedded drawing pad (just like the one in the 17" lenovo laptop)
Why not 1x1.8" drive slot, and 3x2.5" drive slots and an optical drive bay.
    so on so forth..

I wonder what new things will the succesor bring, since we allready know the performance it will bring will be from humongous to collosall.

    hey guys,
i like the ideas, some are a little unrealistic based upon clevo's past laptops lol. but we'll see. when do you guys expect the x7200 successor to come out. if you had the money to get an x7200, would you wait or just buy the x58 one now?
    thanks.

Make it an OLED array, and make it touch sensitive and you'll have a golden goose. Toss in a five to seven inch OLED touchscreen touchpad replacement, which would have 512 to 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity, and I will go have a child to give it to you.

What about titanium, or carbon fiber? Kevlar?

Yeah, as well as the touchpad OLED screen, OLED keys would be nice, too, for the ability to customize the layout.

Oh, you mentioned that here... Bah! Well, either way, it'd be AWESOME indeed. Speakers and camera, though, are more complicated as good speakers normally need to be larger, as do cameras. But yes, BETTER speakers and a BETTER camera are nice. My Dell XPS system has speakers that are far better than most TVs come with, by default. It isn't saying a whole lot, but for a laptop, it's absurdly nice.

Why would you want a single 1.8" drive? A slim SSD boot disk? Meh, I'd rather four or six 2.5" drives, and a few SD card slots. In fact, I'm surprised that having two or more SD card slots hasn't really taken off, as they're even easier to use than a USB thumb drive.

My hope is that they don't go TOO far out, and just really build on the awesomeness of the x7200, whilst making it a bit bigger. There's no need to really make it insane (although I would pay out my nose for those listed above).

i hope they refuse to put a dvd-drive and just leave this empty space for smth more usefull. Like 3d GPU))) But lighter and thinner x7300 or whatever it's gonna be with all the stuff, you guys, just mentoned, and i'm selling my kidney) kidding!

Nice find, bebyhemi! But November is kinda early for next-gen GPU's from Nvidia and AMD! it'll probably launch with 570m, 580m and 6990m graphics solutions at first. But this is just my prediction! Hope one PSU is enough to feed this thing... I'd better start saving money to make myself a little Christmas present

Wow. Better start saving up now...

Sager, if you're reading this, please do not plug up the HDMI-In port, if the P270WM has one. Even if it is the same reportedly crummy 720p one as the X8100. Please don't plug it up! Some of us would really like to have it. Like me.

If Nvidia's "Next-Gen GTX" for notebooks is a factory overclocked 485m, it's fine since the 485m is already fairly nuts. Although it would be a nice surprise if it is something with a superior CUDA core count. I'd be impressed.

Looking forward to more info on the P270WM. Heh... That model number doesn't sound as awesome as the X7200. But oh well. It will still murder benchmarks.

I'm impressed that Clevo was able to put together a Sandy Bridge E laptop and have it released just as the desktop cpus are released. Obviously they avoided the 18.4" fight with Alienware that they would have trouble competing with due to Dell pricing the 6970m xfire for relatively cheap when they didn't create a x8100 successor. Since the 28nm gpus won't be released until Q1 2012, I wonder if anyone will bit the bullet and get their machine with only a 580m/6990. Either way I'd like to thank Clevo for making my computer I've yet to receive obsolete. The joy of having to purchase things before fall college sessions start.

I was bummed that Sager didn't offer the internal television decoder on the 8170. Let's hope that they make full use (with optional upgrades) of all the ports on this motherboard, including HDMI.

Not just the GPU pricing, the battery life is also something to consider. Both the M17x and M18x can last for 5hrs+ on a single charge. However, one of the positive aspects of the X7200 successor (beside the power  ) is the 17" screen which can be easily upgraded to matte and high gamut variants (including IPS). I just hope Clevo offers a better possibly backlit keyboard.

More than likely, the next gen gtx wil be based on the revised geforce 114 core, slightly efficient, sligthly tweaked version of the 104 core found in 485m, and with enough extra performance to be above the 485m.

If there is something i find interesting on this new laptops is the ability, if it will have it, to completly turn off the dual gpus inside and use the gpu inside the cpu, togther with lower cpu freq when on battery.

That will allow the user to do light weight jobs, for instance, browsing the web, on battery for multiple hours.

My choice would be to turn off completly the dual gpus, while in windows, and use them only when gaming, or when there is a dedicated app that can use said gpus.

I think you can forget about GPU switching since the SB E won't have an IGP, AFAIK. :(

Odds are an X79 chipset wouldn't support an IGP even if SB-E has one.

You joke, but they're already working on hydrogen fuel cell batteries that can run on water. Lithium batteries have pretty much been refined to the point that anything further is diminishing returns. Electronics generally follow along Moores Law (and power requirements have been going up quite a lot too)- but batteries haven't progressed at that rate, well, ever. The person that develops the next innovation in portable power to move away from batteries will end up rich. :D

    Crap, i didn't knew that !

So the succesor of the x7200 is still going to suck on battery department.
Maybe they will make this time a proper power supply so there won't be the need to link 2 of them together, cause thats just ridiculous.

So bassicaly, if one wants to take advantage of the IGP inside the CPU, and have dual GPUs, the only sollution will still remain the m18x.

+1 May be in a few years they release a 150w Gpu and add 3rd power brick aswell :D As for the m18x - it's a clear choice for the best DTR with 5hr battery life if needed, no competitors in 18" size range!

This is tooo sick! Guys, there is this FREE program known as the customer advantage. I am banking on it to get me this bad boy by the end of this year. I think we all deserve this machine, seeing that we know a whole lot about it, inside out. hahah :D

Lets do this guys so we can get this new successor in little to no time

Does anyone know if the successor is going to be thinner than the X7200? I find the X7200 to be very very thick, even though it is a beast and sexy! :D

Where does this put other models like the famous NP8150 which I find to be obsoulete as far as 15inchers go (for now :) ) and the NP8170?

Assuming the pix I've seen are correct, the p270WM mobo won't fit in a x7200 chassis due to port changes. Take a look at the 1st post where DGDXGDG added a chassis picture. Different USB arrangements on the left and USB/Firewire changes on the right. And Power outlet is back/left corner.

I guess if one was wanting to be creative w/ a dremel tool, it could be made to fit. :D
