    Hello,

Is it possible to upgrade the x7200 to p570wm?

I think I'd have to upgrade the motherboard, as well as the lower chassis (for ports).

Anyone know if the bios ever got patched? Wondering if I could get 64gb ram in one.

    Thanks,
    bob

As far as I can remember Prema never did patch it for 64gb.
To be honest I think finding a motherboard and base plastics is going to be a issue (thou quick look on ebay I have just seen a new motherboard for £480 + pp).

You may find a used unit of ebay they do come up from time to time.

Alternatively just go for one the newer gen units.

Is there a newer gen unit that supports workstation xeons? I currently have z170 and I need more CPU.

Eurocom Tornado F5W is Xeon E V5 series based, but its a 15" screen and the Xeons listed all appear to be 4c/8t

Nope, 16GB modules weren't supported until DDR4 modules were incorporated into later models, so 32GB max on the P570WM.

Stick with 1600 MT/s memory, too (we experienced issues with higher speeds).

    That's a shame. I guess I'll stick with what I have.

It would depend on the sticks, I had some samsung ram which ran all day at 2133mhz 10-10-10.

It's doable, but stability was spotty. Seemed like the IMC was fickle, mostly with the faster Kingston memory.

Yeah, the brand was important, the kingston stuff I had would not get close to those timings but it was more dense.
