Hello im having a little conundrum with which sager/clevo model i want.

One issue is screen size vs portability

The other issue is crossfire vs future proofing

So the two laptops i can get (within my price range) are the p150h with 90% gamut and a hd6990m or the x8100 with a single hd6970m. Apart from that they have equal spec.

I know the x8100 is huge but im quite a big guy so i could lug it around to lan partys and uni with a big backpack with ease. What do you guys thing about the size and weight of the x8100?

One of the main questions is does the x8100 have enough power to crossfire two hd6970m's or even have support for the hd6***m series? I know the p150h is still on sale so still gets regular bios updates so can probably be upgraded to the hd7*** series when thats released next year.

I dont know which to get so need some advice from someone who has experience with laptops of different size and crossfire.

    help greatly appreciated.

The P150HM is probably the better choice. The 6990 is 10-20% faster than the 6970 and you won't have to deal with crossfire issues. If you want crossfire though, the P180HM does offer it- though obviously in a much larger package. The portability and power of the P150HM is a better combo I'd think, unless you need some of the other benefits of the larger chassis (extra hard drives, etc.)

Well i was told that gaming on such a small screen is not good and to aim for atleast 17". With regards to graphics ive just found out only p180m supports hd6970m crossfire (cant afford that) and x8100 can only take one hd6970m. I can get a p170m but i wont get the gamut screen. What do you guys think about gamut?

Gamut is gorgeous, but to be honest so is the default screen, for gaming it will be just fine.

I dont want the gaming to be just fine. I want it to be brilliant. The 1st game im gonna play will be bioshock and ill play it just for the visual experience. I think im gonna say "stuff the extra inch" and go for a 95% gamut 15" gloss screen. An inch dosnt make that big a difference right guys? And their is no disadvantage to getting a p150hm over a 170 right? Its not like the p170hm has more room for future graphics cards right?

P170 has 3 drive bays, the P150 only has 2 if that makes a difference. Was the deciding factor for me since I wanted to have a SSD and HDD while maintaining the optical drive.

    Correct.

    That's correct.

As far as screen size goes, I went from a 15.6" M860TU to the 17.3" P170HM, and the extra screen space matters to me. But I gamed on the 15" screen for 2.5 years and never felt cramped. Now it's just that I'll never go back.

Me? I'd base my decision on which one I could buy with a higher gamut screen. It makes that much of a difference. I was able to get my P17 with the 90% screen, and it's beautiful. The default screens don't hold a candle to the upgrades.

Kevin i could kiss you. I have spent hours, days, nearly a week researching gamut and that one straight black and white honest opinion has shown me neigh convinced me of what i need.

Im going to get a p150hm with 95% gloss (no matte is going to dim my screen, im going hardcore) screen! Screw the DVD drive, i buy from steam anyway, and i havnt watched a dvd on my current laptop in... ever!

Once ive got the laptop ill post what it looks like here:

So you can direct others curious about gamut and gloss in the right direction.

Thank god for notebook review and thank the users for their insightful info!
