Found my sweet-spot on 378.78 and it's still working with 378.92, never had the time to do any proper testing on older driver except for some stock runs and mild OCs.

Same here for my 1070. I could do +218 on core without crashing in Fire Strike with previous driver. Now with the new 378.92, it crashed even with +215...
But I did notice some small performance increased with the new driver.

Try using default BIOS settings for everything relating to overclocking and CPU power except PL1/PL2 set to 160000 and your cores ratios and voltage. Use static voltage with no offsets. If you use adaptive the voltage will almost always be higher than it needs to be.

Was just hoping for the new unexpected base-line not being 'slaughtered' right away... ;)
I knew you waited for me...appreciated!

Come-on guys. If I can do it, so can you! We still haven't seen 13K and it should be absolutely doable as CPU was only at 5Ghz and the GPUs throttled. :)

    Edit:

The King is back on his throne. Glad I could help to push your lazy *** a bit! :D

A lot more people would be closer if they decided to take it a bit more seriously.....

    Maybe....

    Side note. GPU's always throttle.

just curious brother, but does your notebook work straight out of the box with these drivers? i mean brightness and gsync (even if i don't use it anyway).

well +218 is pretty good anyway, my stable max is about +140 and then it depends on the moon situation, sometimes +170-180 is np then some day later only +140, but whatever the memory OC helps a ton too.

well maybe i can do that with my 1070, i pet my book it hopefully goes faster that way and as treat i place some memory chip cereals with ice cubes or some stuff, very picky you know :D

Let's see if getting better fans under P775 lets us OC more

I made a list of things after seeing Brother @Mr. Fox 's example and will surely build it in a few days. Can't wait to see how it works and if it lets me OC to something decent like 4.4 - 4.6 GHz :)

let me know how it goes, i think that over 16k i did with firestrike is pretty okish only after getting simple but magical bios upgrade. too bad tho that 1070 is severely limited by that stupid ~120w limit, i would almost bet after vbios tuning it could run at 2ghz straight, but then some desktop users would get offended again lol :p but tbh after the EC limits removed i already saw some 1.9-2ghz with my 1070 in Overwatch, with a merely offset of +100/+300. GPU Boost 3.0 is not something i necessarily like, it even took some time to mod my vBios right for my 980TI to absolutely defeat that boost "feature" and get my set and forget clocks.

Just remember the P870 series have better ventilation grills in the bottom lid. Aka will have more benefits from an notebook cooler. But every degrees down you can shrink, the better :)

No, I agree. I think what it is (although it does not say) is how the current score compares to the average of those submitted for the same CPU. Nothing really defines what it means that I can see. Maybe it is documented somewhere else on their web page. Without knowing what it represents, it's just interesting.

Also interesting, it says "YOU" even if I access the link from a different PC. So, I am guessing it says "YOU" to everybody, LOL.

Only a guide-line for showing newest processors have better performance. And the bench is short and don't push the processor. Nice for BGA. Some use it to show their max oc'd BGA Crap can perform same as stock 6700/7700K performance

By the way, when buying a fan for a custom cooler, is it important to have a high CFM unit, or a high RPM ?

Seems like there are very fast fans (6000 RPM) but with very low CFM (15).

Wanted to confirm this. Those fans would not be as effective as a solution with a considerably larger CFM, no?

Okay then, so I should try to get the highest CFM with the lowest Noise and ignore RPM for the most part as the CFM itself is what matters, right?

The one you showed from previous post... Noctua industrial 3000rpm model is very good. No need for more search.
Edit. You could buy 3 of the Delta beast. But you can't be married and you risk your U3 cooler flying around home after you fire up 3 of them :p

Wow... nostalgia - before my first mobile Extreme CPU purchase - found these looking for the chest freezer photo(s). Seems like a whole another lifetime. Still in the top 20 with a QM CPU, LOL.

Romania is similar... Day temps can reach 40C :(

At those temps it is sometimes hard even to live normally even less to bench something...

I have a feeling that most of us do this. I'm actually suffering from some sleep disorders due to this - I never sleep at night because it's silent and it's cooler and I can focus better at night. No idea why this happens, but it happens...

    Waaaait, whaaat? :D

I'm actually considering a bit if I can get other fans than Noctua industrial mostly because 3 of them are quite expensive here - really expensive - it might get close to 130$ only for the fans, with another 30$ for the controller module with another 10 - 15 for the AC adapter so if I can get by with another set of fans that would work just as good, I am considering it

Noise might also be a problem as I am using the laptop at night and I can't risk waking someone up with it

Nice. The Top nr1 3DM11 score with 7700BGA and 1080. The *high end as some reviewers say* 7700hq is incredible 11.9% faster in physics than the 6 year older 2nd gen i7-2760QM from 2011. What a progress
You can't get much better fans than this Noctua model. If you go for other, probably cheaper fans, you will most likely buy trash. Quality costs bro, but will last yooo looong time. The same for your U3 mod(I expect you will have it for the next laptop yooo buy). And noise... Just adjust the speed aka less noise with the controller you shall buy.
