I'll be replacing them with 2.5 later on, I got them from china but was too late as I already took the machine apart to repaste with liquid metal and change to bitspower IHS

Thanks for that. Always good to have these for future reference.
Question: I have a hard time with certain colors due to partial color blindness. What is the number on the thicker CPU pad? Is it 2mm? The color is too similar to the pad (for my eyes) for me to identify it clearly.

@Mobius 1 What happened to those giant BIG BOY FANs, did you ever get a chance to see if they fit our systems?
Last edited: May 25, 2017 -
Not without moving the whole motor / pcb and fan assembly to the clevo fan chassis.
Wasted a bit of money trying to get them :|
Still not able to get a sale quote from Delta for the G751 fans.
They can fit into the DM3/KM1 chassis if you're willing to mod your bottom panel and modify the big boy fan chassis. -
If I were going to go to that much effort and expense, for me, it would be better to spend the calories on the wimpy fans in the Tornado F5. Those are super weak fans. I love the monster fans in the DM3 and would not want them to be any weaker. But, Mrs. Fox would really like it if they were quieter. She hates them, but I am not willing to take quieter over higher temps. Better temps wins hands down.Last edited: May 25, 2017

Or use 12000rpm 4omm fans ducted to the fins instead?
I have 6 of those, draws 4watts each on full tilt -
Hmm. Interesting. You catch my attention just mentioning 12000 RPM. Do you have pics? How loud are they? (Can't have anything like those fans @Rage Set put on his U3. Mrs. Fox would skin me alive, LOL). When I behave she lets me bench on AC, so I don't want to lose that privilege. They will fit in the chassis of the DM3 or TF5?

You can get all sorts of fun data centre type fans, but none of them will be quiet

Are you sure you want the kind I'm building? They will require earplugs or noise canceling headphones if you're sensitive to loud sounds.

I have a bose one, so I think I'm good on the noise partRage Set likes this.

Mrs. Fox actually has a condition known as Misophonia and that would put me in the dog house for sure, LOL. We've been married for 30 years and I don't think there is any chance she is going deaf. I swear she has ears like a German Shepherd. But, I could use it when she is not around. My hearing is already shot anyways, ha ha. What's a little more damage in the grand scheme of things? Can't be any worse than the power tools, heavy metal music and frequent use of firearms without ear protection that got me where I am today.
Now, I think she would actually believe that. And, it wouldn't be dishonest. -
If you haven't flashed it yet, can you try letting your cards downclock for me? Tell me what they're pulling at the 137MHz 2D clocks they get down to. I'd be interested to find out if the 200W idling has dropped to about 10W
-
It has been flashed multiple times and currently a work in progress on the Clevo. Here is the @Prema vBIOS on the 16L-G-1080/Tornado F5. Capable of pulling about 235W but idles correctly as well. I'm going to have to put some copper on that PCH, LOL. Just played a little under an hour of Alien Rage and GoW4 and looks like it started getting warm.
Edit... correction... make that 250W.

Just got tracking, though can't see if it has left them yet.
Also looks like they googled premamod or something as they threw in a free KBL version (I ordered SKL model) and asked me to compare them.

Damn. Free $175 heat sink haha
Where do you usually order heat sinks from ?ajc9988 likes this. -

Tried signing up to buy from them, never got the email from them (checked the spam, no go). I just let it go because it was for my desktop and not as concerned.

Oh so the IHS! Yeah their shipping on those is kinda ridiculous, i ordered 2 so it was easier to swallow. But on the bright side, their first delivery attempt was within 5 days of shipping.
You need to email them / use the contact us page for payment info. Make sure you are logged in though.ajc9988 likes this. -
Hmm, all I did was doing the checkout and then waiting for their mail before making the payment.
Took a couple hours for their invoice mail, which popped up in the SPAM folder... -
When I tried, it was at the same time someone else tried and had to email support to get it sorted out, etc. I don't know that it matters much on the desktop at the moment either.
Meanwhile, I'm getting energized for more info from computex on new hardware...

Sadly Clevo has no new LGA (for now) only the 'P6-equivalent' models are being re-freshed with their slim variants in 15" (P95) & 17" (PA7). I think the P95 models have already been posted here a while back...Last edited: May 26, 2017

I was hoping for something on planned arrival for Coffee around Christmas. But, that is over 6 months out...
Still dreaming of a panther replacement, though... whether in AMD or Intel flavors... -
-
Yeah, there's not much to look forward to in notebooks. The ODMs are ruining everything they touch. Don't give a flippin' rat's butt about the refresh of irrelevant BGA filthbooks. And, those without the potential for salvation with Prema firmware mods can change "not much" to "absolutely nothing" LOL. The last refresh was pathetic, to say it as kindly as possible. The KM1 with 480W power limit and EC throttling might as well be forgotten about. Not worth buying in it's factory-direct broken state.

Ha nice
the SKL is better for us.

I have no interest in switching processors but does ANYONE know if the Coffee Lake processors will work in z270 boards?
-
I've read some articles on line about a GTX 1080ti for notebooks, (or something like that) and I'm positive their information came from the April fools day joke @Prema and @Mr. Fox did a while back. I find it hard to believe anything about new releases, unless it comes from these forums. And it's not April 1st

Ooops
If they work in our P870DM3's then I'll be getting the six-core for sure.

Again, sorry about that!
Well Zotac uses MXM wherever they can, so unless Jen suddenly dreams up a mobile thermal meltdown (we are ready
) this is as compact as it gets for the time being:

Shipping for me was around the same price as the IHS though it looks like they shipped Prema's before mine.....ajc9988 likes this. -
Yeah same. I paid $48 total for 2 IHS + shipping. I think since they mainly deal in heavy water cooling components, they have their express shipping prices accordingly and to encourage bulk/larger orders.ajc9988 likes this.

It was $870 TWD total for a single one shipped for me. -
Interesting , when i bought mine, they were at 740TWD.

I guess they got a spike in demand lol. In the grand scheme of things it's not a lot of cash.
-
Maybe they are forced to do this, this time due AMD?

Mine is around $1290 TWD (single ihs only), but it was just ordered this month. I take it you ordered a month earlier?
