I use it quite a bit. A couple days ago I logged in and had a funny feeling that the desktop wasn't quite how I left it, but I dismissed the thought. After hearing of the breach, i checked and all my accounts appear to be fine.
Thanks for the notice. -
none yet. waiting on some 1080s to surface first.

I am on waiting on that as well. What specific card are you looking for?
I settled for 5960x for now.
On topic, if 1080 OC really is that depended on temperature like the initial reports are suggesting, the mobile clocking(at least for lighter notebooks) dont look good.Last edited: Jun 3, 2016 -

Since I only use it randomly, I install it when I need it, then uninstall it as soon I am done using it. If I needed to use it every day that wouldn't be a good option, but there's no reason to have it installed if/when you are not using it.Prema likes this.

I do that as well with seldom used apps too, that or get the standalone zip'd download that runs in place without install.
The computer I am on now works well with sleep mode - Windows Vista Ultimate x64 - and so I sleep it whenever I am going to be off for a few hours, which believe it or not, happens several times daily
-
Any reason why vista in particular?
-
Yeah, portable apps are awesome. I almost always choose a portable app when one is available. They seems to always work better for me than software that craps all over the registry.
Probably because Windows 10 sucks like a Hoover on steroids. -
The best thing about Vista? No Windows 10 GWX upgrade harassment

When did that happen? Already gearing up for pascal?
-
Well, a friend of a relative wanted it badly, so they paid me over a few months and now it's theirs.
Gonna wait out the first few months of new releases to see how they look before jumping in again, no rush.Last edited: Jun 4, 2016 -

That's a really bad attitude to have when it comes to security.
Pushing someone to breach their security with taunts of fear; that they are too scared to do something.
We have all been lulled into a sense of security, when in all actuality all our asses are hanging out there for opportunist criminals to profit.
There is no reason to feed your info into a site to see if your account / password has been compromised. So, don't do it

How does knowing this info make things better?
Do you have the list of hackers that will compromise his site and gather the logs of queries made? How about the hackers that will compromise his ISP, and their logs?
You know nothing that will protect you when accessing that site now or in the future, you will gain nothing from accessing that site, and who knows once trained to use it if it will be turned against him / you at a later date.
It's not needed, so don't do it. -
Read what i said and do not make up things. We are all grown here.

I didn't make things up, I used common sense and postulated what can, will, and has happen many times before.
That is why security conscious people won't do things that can be compromised.
From experience you know what not to trust, what not to do that will expose data, especially on such sites as can take advantage of such data gathering, either by the creator, or the hacker, or the future owner.
Especially if it's unnecessary, and this is unnecessary. -
Mine was compromised on afew sites from quite a few years back. But never had any issues, since my important passwords are tougher than anal sex with a Catholic girl. No offense.
But yeah that site did list the exact sites my email address got compromised on.Last edited: Jun 4, 2016 -
You're funny. So take it how you want. Not my job to sell you on anything. If a hacker want's you there is nothing you would be able to do about. Period. And that is a fact. And no amount of denial is going to change that.
-
Yep, mine was on there as well, but after each attacked I changed them all just to be safe. Just like i changed them all again.
Normally they are suppose to be changed every 90 days, but then that varies with each individual.hmscott likes this. -
That kind of thinking makes it ok to keep putting helpful tidbits out there to make their job easier?
You just give up from the start, rollover and security and common sense cautious behavior be damned?
Do you contact the hackers and take a number so you can get served in order?
Your POV is risky enough for me, and hopefully for everyone else, that I won't just click on and fill in the blanks for a hacked account site you post.
Your security sense is a fail.

Your whole conversation is a fail, we just tolerate you.

Thanks, and I do appreciate it.
Sincerely though, don't use such services.
Knowing what I know when I see someone posting what you posted sends up so many red flags.
I could sit here and chuckle to myself about the misfortune such actions incur, or I could share with you how unnecessary, and fraught with peril such behavior is.
From the reddit article:
Catsler 10 points 2 years ago
The site says its data is from 8 large breaches: Adobe, Snapchat, Stratfor, Gawker, Yahoo, Vodafone, Pixel Federation, and Sony.
That's enough info.
Change your passwords, or close / delete your account, on those sites as they have been hacked.
You probably already got a notice from those companies if you have an account, but if you missed it, now you know.
You don't need to do anything else.Last edited: Jun 4, 2016 -
You sound ridiculous right about now. Quite trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. It's not that serious. This isn't the gt80 msi threads were running amuck on nonsense is beneficial to the masses.

finally, after a month of procrastination after my failed attempt of trying Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut which was much worse than IC Diamond in my case that forced me to lower my overclock from 4.6 GHz to 4.5 GHz.
I finally got my act together, woke up this morning and decided to get this out of the way first thing in the day. Repasted with IC Diamond using the X Cross method and now my temps are way better and I can keep my old 4.6 GHz overclock back
IC Diamond FTW

yeah anything but IC Diamond sucks on this laptop -
-
Man now you guys are tempting me to give ICD another shot. Ill probably order a tube of GCE and ICD to test with my GPU heat sink mod.Spartan@HIDevolution and hmscott like this.

You auto load using init.d scripts or direct tables ?

it was you who encouraged me to try IC Diamond in the first place, you don't need anyone to tempt you
Tempt yourself.
Although GELID Extreme Thermal Compound is also thick, why waste time when you know IC Diamond is tested and works best with this laptop's heatsink?
It was because of your recommendation back then to use IC diamond instead of LCU that enabled me to bump my overclock from 4.4 GHz to 4.6 GHz. I know I can reach 4.7 GHz but I want a safe 24/7 overclock not just for benching.
PS: Your RAM is now in California, you should get it today -
-
I remember well when everyone complained about the stickiness of ICD and how badass it was applying it.
It seems that it experiences a renaissance again!
My bad that I ordered the big tube of TG Kryonaut, just to give it a shot.
