Best case scenario, kaby lake MIGHT have a 5-7% IPC over skylake. Thats the best case scenario. Its honestly not a upgrade thats worth it for current 6700k owners.
I think @johnksss was more talking about the lack of HEDT socketed laptop. Doubt Clevo is gonna make a x99 laptop now, so skylake E based Clevo?

Fits best in the lower part in any bencmarks!!! What is more important is to show that BGA has nothing to contribute when it comes to high performance in portable machines. Its main characteristic for BGA JokeBook's is to show emails/Facebook on the way to work or inside a cafe belong with Apple machines..., But this could just as easily be done with a phone or tablet!! Or better... A very cheap ChromeBook

Firestrike Physics score near the magic 15550 with 4.8 GHz aka 15546

Nice, I think I'm going to have to join you having a play with that chassis

I have decreased my overclock (blasphemy, I know) of my GTX 860M to 1.3 GHz core, 2.7 GHz memory from 1.34 GHz core and 2.75 GHz memory, as well as lowering the over-voltage from 1.15 V to 1.125V. Barely any difference at all, but stock voltages are crap anyway (1.1 V).
@Prema, I have no idea how you manage a 1.5 GHz overclock. I tried 1.4 GHz, and Fire Strike crashes instantly. I'm on the so-called 'golden' 362.00, since the latest drivers make my Witcher 3 game crash too much. -

It will be the silicon lottery on clocks, if your stock voltage is not so great the chip might not be the best

Look into Hwbot bench ranks and you will see there ia a big variety in scores within same clock speed...

Still need to kill a lot of services and optimize windows
Thinking of keeping a fresh install of windows just for benching.

how the heck did you reach that clock man?
What cooling/thermal paste / BIOS settings? -
Im still trying to fine tune it and @Papusan wont share his secrets
For cooling, i have been running the system without its bottom cover and this janky ass setup to promote proper airflow, the new CPU heatsink from a month back and Kryonaut on the IHS/Heatsink with CLU on the die.
My U3 mod is still overdue, barely get any time over the weekends.Mr. Fox, Cass-Olé, CaerCadarn and 2 others like this. -

Just don't go taking his settings, then using them about a week, make some change that has to do with nothing but luck and then start claiming the new settings as your new and improve version of it. And we will be all good with you taking a record while using them.
@bloodhawk
Should be pretty cold tonight out here in LA. Take it out side for some much lower temps... -

That lottery thing is hogwash when it comes to laptop. Almost all these chips are capable of performing exactly the same. And if yours is performing worse then it's because you need a lower temp at a certain stage of the cpu while benching. Not going to go into all that because i explained it many times already. Your more concerned about benching at 4.8 than being super optimal and efficient at say 4.6, 4.7 even 4.8. You may not even need that high to beat anyone. A lot of this stuff is trial and error not taking someones settings and trying to beat them with it. Technically "they" beat them selves.
This is only information and a not a what you have to do....but i would really start there first. Because i would rather say I beat you with only a 4.6 ghz over clock. Which I have done many times....(Beat someone while running a lower over clock)ajc9988 and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

The same is true for my current motherboard, the first one actually had a better voltage curve (not that I had that long with it), at least it died in the name of science. -
Not really sure what was going on in your neck of the woods. Even the worse 4930k on a desktop board did better than 4.2 ghz without doing anything but using auto. And the fact that you killed a cpu in a laptop has me in amazement! I have killed boards in a laptop but never a cpu.bloodhawk and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

A 4930K does 4.3 on just amps and no volts added. So being locked at 4.2 is just mind boggling to me.
Edit
@Meaker@Sager Are you talking about your desktop board? If so that would be different, but still....4.2ghz is crazy.bloodhawk likes this. -

There doesnt seem to be too much of a difference for me between 365.19 and 368.22 :
http://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/8783870/fs/8783923/fs/8783470#
Though on 368.22 im getting a way better Physics score - 15535 -
There is no problem to get better Wprime score if you increase clock speed!!
Or maybe i don't understand this
My point was to get a good or same bench score with the exactly < same> 4.8 GHz @Phoenix !! Higher clock speeds give normally better bench results as you can see in the picture!!

Edit. What the heck @Phoenix I have never bench 4.221 @bloodhawk 's score!!

But at the end of the day, the P570WM3 still trumps almost every record on there....(That's over all records and not pick and choose individual scores out of those records)Last edited: Jun 12, 2016CaerCadarn, Prema and bloodhawk like this. -

Refer to upper post where i said. You can't go picking scores where you can win at. It's all or nothing.
This is the benchmark thread, not the bench where my parts only win thread. This is why i quit doing these threads. -
I wish I had my scores saved from my P570WM with the 2680 v2 , I forgot what wPrime scored.
-
I do remember beating some overclocked 4960X and 4930K CPUs but the 1680v2 overclocked is still king in laptops. Don't know if the 12-core would beat yours though, there were at least two users on TI that had that one.Johnksss likes this. -
12 would win on stock i think. Didn't resiualvoltage have a 12 core in his?

FWIW I think these bench threads are awesome as it can give some real insight into performance, information that is otherwise lacking even in reviews. You don't need to be first to show that, that's just a bonus.
Papusan, CaerCadarn, Mr. Fox and 2 others like this. -
His settings do not work for my CPU. Mine requires more voltage than his does... just the silicon lottery in general. This is totally normal and changing the settings for power and voltage won't make mine run any faster (I've tried very hard and this is as good as it I can get so far, bearing in mind we're talking about 0.2 seconds difference. One Windows process or service running could make up that difference very easily.)
-
The thing that makes me sad is knowing there are probably some folks just sitting out there playing Plants vs Zombie, WoW or DOTA on a stock 6700K that's even better than the one @Papusan has and they don't have a clue because they never overclock and could do the same thing with a Core2 Duo or a BGA turdbook.Last edited: Jun 13, 2016 -

There is no substitute for knowledge and experience.
- Excellent Hardware + Knowledge/Experience = Amazing Results
- Excellent Hardware + No Knowledge/Experience = Wasted Hardware
- Crappy Hardware + Knowledge/Experience = Lousy Benchmark Scores/Sad Overclocker

I just wish there were more resources or service manuals on what some of the settings do in the BIOS.
