Hey D2 Ultima:
Regarding your problem with the USB thumb drive.
I had one like that also. When inserted into a computer it would automatically run a program that managed the USB drive. Attempts to reformat it would only reformat the "data storage" partition, and the program would stay intact. I HATED that. So, I went to the manufacturer's website where they had an un-install application available to download. Running that returned it to a good 'ol plain USB stick.
You might try that?
-
Sounds good there, I may indeed try that, it isn't an issue now it doesn't start up on its own, but maybe a lil later I'll try it ^^
+rep for you! lol -
hi everyone i just get my sager 9280 it's awesome.....
-
congratz lol
-
hey all,
what is the best temp monitoring software for this laptop?
Also I have raid 0 and have been told depending on the type of setup it can reduce disk life by up to 40%!
Does this laptop have the type that constantly runs the hdd no matter if they are in use or not or a smarter kind that increases hard disk life?
thx -
HWMonitor is a good monitor for temps. Search it. -
I jealous snecers. I still have about another week before mine will arrive.
In the meantime while I'm waiting, I couldn't resist and gave in to temptation and purchased an Intel 80GB X-25M (G2) SSD to put in the 9280. Got it from Amazon for $256(US) - not bad. -
I could never pay $256 for an 80GB hard drive even if it accessed things before you even requested them... but that's just me
-
Well, I know what you mean. But all things are relative. I can remember paying $300 for a 10 MB SCSI drive to connect to my Atari 520ST ;-)
-
-
$130 to you still works out to something like $800 to me, so again I'd rather skip lol. I can get a 500GB 7200 RPM drive for around $130 as well XD I rather the space! XD
-
nothing personal, but...glad im not you...i would be eating nails if i was in your position.
-
man i just got my sager 9280. It wont detect the wif card! I have tried to install drivers for it vista 64 bit versions but nothing has worked. I can't find any windows 7 64 bit drivers for the sager 9280 defaut wifi card =(
can anyone help me?
This is the error msg i get
-
No offense man, but seriously forget windows 7. Call it an opinion if you want, but windows 7 is not ready to be released to the general public yet, there are still some bugs within the gui, let alone the rest of the OS. Also manufacturers still have to Windows 7-ready their driver releases. It's going to be some time before people can really be happy after getting Win7. Can't you go back to Vista 64 bit? It REALLY isn't that bad. Just stick with SP1 for best reliability.
-
And why does nobody ever give me rep? I want to be new here but already liked =(
*The above message is totally unrelated to any problems in and around NBR. That is all* -
and make sure that wi-fi is enabled with the hot key Fn+F11. -
BTW, I assume you're trying to install drivers for a Windows 7 64 bit install, by your post. So you should try this with the Vista 64 bit drivers.
Good Luck.. -
thanks for the quick ideas guys, but still no luck.
alright i did everything that everyone mentioned and still no luck. Nothing will recognise the card if it is my mobo.
here are some more pics of what is going on...
In my device manager there is one thing with a question mark and that seems to be something related to the SATA and HD controllers
There is no Network option in there!
2nd i installed the intel wireless software and even that cannot detect a wifi adapter.... is going on.
For referance i had windows 7 installed on my old inspiron 1720 without any problems. And i recently installed the 64bit win 7 onto an asus G51 without problems. So i think i kinda know what i am doing here, but i have never had this type of problem. Its weird that it wont detect the hardware. I will be calling xoticpc tom to see if they can help me out. This is just nuts! and i was looking to play some TF2 tonight! -
What is strange is that your wired ethernet adapter isn't showing either...Have you tried running a later build of win7?
-
how do you know that's your wireless card for sure? it might be something else all together.
check the bios and make sure you cards are in fact enabled. and if you have switches or fn+ some other key to enable or disable. check them to.
install the chipset drivers first if you haven't already done so. plug a network cable in the network port just in case it's set to auto sensing or auto switching between the wireless adapter. -
opnr2000- If you get to the point where you want to try the latest RTM version of Windows 7, let me know.
-
@opnr2000
I know you skimmed my comment but if you really wish to check and see, try doing a vista installation, or try redoing your win7 installation even. If the win7 does not work, try using vista, and see if you get anything. If it shows up under vista and *not* under 7, then you have a problem. But like i said it's too early to be using 7, there are a lot of problems like this that aren't reported in the media, because the general home users who stumble across them have no means of getting the word out.
My suggestion is attempt a reinstall of 7 if you *must* have it, (I shall roll my eyes at you though), and if that fails try using vista and see if it works. If both should fail, then you need to contact whoever you received it from and tell them about it. It's not a DOA, but they ought to treat it as such and not charge you anything for any sort of replacement or shipping (assuming you don't have any free shipping on your warranty) because you have a fatal error in being unable to use any sort of internet on that machine. -
Hey guys I need some advice. I've got $50 USD from my aunt when she came down to visit here, and I'm looking towards getting a nice lil notebook cooler for my machine. I'd like some good suggestions please! Remember my limit is $50 USD, I'm not counting shipping as my uncle is in the states and will bring it back down with him when he comes back later this month. So please help thanks ^^
-
@opnr2000
Which model of wifi card did you choose when you configured your notebook?
Regardless of enabling/disabling the card via fn+f11 or something else, it appears in my device manager.
I use Windows 7 RTM x64 and needed no drivers after installation.
You can try to read your system info with SIW ( http://www.gtopala.com/). It appears as "Other Network Controller" at PCI Devices.
(I think your wifi card is missing or defective)Attached Files:

Alright I have installed window 7 again and the wifi card i not detected. I then installed vista 64 and the wifi card still does not show up in device manager. I keep getting the error that the wifi card is not detected.
I don't know what to do now. Sager is saying they can send me a shipping label to send it to them and they will take a look at it. I mean it sucks ive waited a month for this and it will prob take 2 or more weeks atleast with all the shipping back and forth!.. argh -
I feel your pain opnr, but your machine just probably doesn't have a card in it. It's the reseller's fault and you should take it up with them, just be glad you got a computer you can use in the meantime, I've had machines die on me with no alternative left and I had to figure out stuff on my own, so I'd say in your case you've got some kinda luck. But hopefully you'll get through quickly. Which reseller did you get it through?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone??? Notebook cooler for $50 USD or under? Please? Come on NBR prove to me that whenever I ask for help it don't take a day or two for someone to check the forum and reply! -
The only 2 I can think of that suits the D900 is either the Zalman NC2000 or the NZXT Cryo LX - I know the Cryo is expensive, what the Zalman costs in the US I don't know - I'm not in the US. -
-
Okay, I've researched both the coolers and the NZXT always seems to be the better build, but if anyone here can provide some feedback that'd help ^^
-
opnr2000-
I don't have my 9280 yet, so I can't check myself. But most notebooks use a WiFi card that plugs into a mini-pci connector. Usually these are either under the keyboard or on the bottom of the notebook- under a removable panel.
You will see 2 wires (usually one is black and one is white) that go to the antennas in this same area.
If this is also true with the 9280 you can hopefully check yourself. If it is missing maybe they can just send you a WiFi card? -
You do realise that opening it that much might have voided your warranty and any chances of you actually getting it fixed for free?
I understand your sentiments but really... you should have just waited a lil more... As for this pic I can't off the bat tell what the Wi-Fi card is though I have some idea, but if you didn't remove anything it looks like two spots are missing. I can't say what is what though, but try to not pull out anything anymore lol -
that was a rather quick post deletion friend
-
Opening a Sager notebook will not void your warranty.
The service manual is in my sig, that will tell you where the wireless card is, and you can see if it is there or not. If it is not, Sager should send you one for you to install yourself if you are up to it.
I still find it strange that you have no wired ethernet adaptor in your device manager either, have you tried installing that driver from the sager/clevo website or driver disk? -
He checked and there was one in there, he put up pics for it, but it appears he (or someone else) deleted that post. It looked like parts were missing, but no matter what he does be it windows 7 or vista, he cannot see any wireless cards appear.
Does changing RAM/processor/video card void one's warranty? I'm curious. If opening and taking care of fans and/or checking for cards/replacing them/fixing them properly isn't against warranty, then is the other stuff the same? -
I can open and change cpu, gpu, ram, hard disks and DVD player without voiding the warranty. I checked that with the people where I bought it. Did not ask specific about other things such as WiFi or Bluetooth, but I presume the same goes for those.
-
-
Maybe his wireless is in the wrong slot, I don't know, but his wired ethernet port is not being detected either, which poses a problem. I was stating to him that instead of trying to mess around with the Wi-Fi alone, he should send it in and get both fixed one time
-
Thanks for the info/service theriko -
hey guys..got my new d900f...shes fast alrite.
ok now i connected it via hdmi cable to my sharp aquos lcd t.v. the problem is m keyboard and mouse input lag alot when playing FARCRY 2 at full 1920x 1080 resolution all setting max(no A.A). but it dosent lag when playing at... say 1280x720... so my question is why is it lagging.
1.is it the hdmi cable( which i think it is as it cannot carry that much data fast enough
2.or my lcd tv
also tried a dvi to vga adapter..that too dosent work..if some has used advi to vga adapter on the d900f can u tell exactly what kind of dvi adapter did u use like dvi-a or dvi-i etc.
thanks and congrats everyone who own this beast -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
that's how farcry is. i got the same with my units. on my ocz whitebook and sager np9262. qx9300 vs e8600 and 3870x2 vs 9800m gtx..
-
BY the way it works flawlessy on the laptop lcd at full resolution n setting maxed..thats the reason im asking the above question
-
so what u mean is other games play fine without lag on lcd via hdmi at full resolution and max settings???

How big is the lag? The problem could be the LCD screen's slow response time.
You should look it up and see what the response time is. You want something less than 6ms.
If you had a plasma screen, this wouldn't be an issue ;-)
( countdown - 5 days until my 9280 arrives) -
I can't connect it to anything because i have no dvi adapters and also no HD TVs to use my cable with. But oh well, maybe when I try it later on I'll see. I'll check with Street fighter 4 and Call of Duty 4
-
would it be an issues if per say..... he had a 120hz hdtv?
also he can try changing the pre rendered frames to 0 or 5..not really sure because i never really used it..
it's in the nvidia control panel under 3d settings -
hey guys.. thanks for the replies
itz not tht much but its there. i would say like max 3-4 ms lag compared to the laptop lcd
i will check with my lcd tv response time.
as for the pre rendered frames. i have changed it from 3 to 0 but there sees to be no noticeable difference
thoughts! -
Proud to say NFS Shift @ 1920 x 1200 + x2AA and antriscopic filtering x16 = I dare you to find lag
Just wanted to say that because I'm bored and nobody else is posting in this forum >.<
Are you all enjoying your machine too much to comment? -
Maybe because the machine works pretty much as expected for most of us?
Still waiting for Gophn's review though, so we can have more to talk about... -
ok guys what kind of software really takes advantage of our d900F.i mean after all it all comes down to the software we use.so whats the best stuff out there that loves our lil beast.
video converters/editors...audio converters etc.
let it show of its potential?? -
lol I don't have any software that would take that much use of it right now, but it should happen soon, when I start doing my degree and I'll have to do stuff in java (yes java of all freaking things *cry*) and render lots of stuff in it and other languages for homework lol. I shudder to think about the people who are doing my course and have crappy computers, they'd be in for a nasty surprise.
Everybody that takes computer courses in my country has computers that totally suck
