I've got to find out what is running taskhost.exe so much. It's hogging 13% of my CPU! Grrrrrrrr... I thought it was Nero (that was interfering with Vantage, so I blew that away). Some other app.....hmmm.

Didn't I read somewhere that new firefox is hogging resources?

Process Explorer will tell you which DLLs are running on taskhost :)

Also if you haven't run a malware scan recently do that and see if anything pops up!

Thanks Neil. Process Explorer tracked it down to the RAC process (Reliability Analysis). So I went into c:\programdata\microsoft\RAC and deleted the files in the published data and state data folders.

CPU is now at 99+% and fans are nice and quiet.

    Thanks for the tip.

The D900F does not require a BIOS update to run the I7-980X.
I'm running mine on the 1.05 BIOS as I am typing this.
Swapped out the 950 for the 980X, rebooted to make windows 7 happy :)
I was able to make use of all cores without a single issue.

Looks like fake to me, I mean, I run those games with full effects as well, MW2 runs smooth as hell, Crysis has it's moments....
The guy probably read the specs from Clevo's website, as it's been on there with the 'SLI' comment for ages, but there's just no SLI in this machine.

To fit in another 280 in the D900F:
    A) Where ? There's only one slot.
    B) Power ? There won't be enough to keep this machine running stable... 220Watts and you're at the very max.

Here is thae answer I got from the guy when I asked where I could get it:

    Look here:

    http://www.inforlandia.com/tabela/PVP/I1248376562.pdf

It is the second in the list. 9900F Sli Core I7.

This mod allows the Clevo D900F support SLI and others things

It is in portugese but here is what I got from G-translate:

this equipment is the most powerful in the market. With capacity to support Core i7 processor, three hard drives and two graphics in SLI GeForce GTX280 M!

NVidia in slots MXM • DirectX 10 • Supports 2nd graphics SLI

    cost:

    3000 EUR about
    i7 950
    6 GB DDR3
    DUAL GTX280 M
    SONY 8x SATA
    1TB raid0

If you'd like me to run benchmarks, toss me a name and I'll gladly run it for you :)

I am still not convinced about that SLI setup though.
Would love to see the inside of the config they are selling as 'SLI'.
If it actually works, I want it :p , eventhough I use the D900F primarily for VMWare tasks.

I dont want to believe it cause I want to know I have the fastest lol.

But I mean if I hve crysis maxed out in 1920 I do not get that performance at all, thats what makes me think it might be true, and when I see a brochure to order I am even more inclined to believe it.

I hope so at the same time as i dont lol

D900F SLI does not exist. It is impossible. Give it up.

Any info was published before release and was wrong.

Get the guy on youtube to post a GPUZ screenshot.

1: there is no sli d900f, not gonna happen.
2: looking through the bottom of the vents you see one has copper and the second one doesn't. the 3rd vent shows the heat pipe for the i7 which uses the last 2 vents.
3: if (and that a hella big damn if) that was sli...he would have taken off the cover to prove it.

sorry, but it looks more like a wording issue...no way you can mod that to house dual video cards...unless you went with the ati addon card.(which is a desktop video card in a pcie box that connects to your laptop.

HE offered me a screenshot as well, I just gave me email to him waiting for the screenshot,

he also is uploading a video soon recording the proof of all the specs before gaming.

This guy just bought a 3000+ euro laptop from a shop finish built, he is probably just a gamer with money. He probably has never opened a laptop in his life. Do you really think he is going to chance taking apart his laptop just to prove to us? Out of everyone I know there are maybe 1 or 2 that are comfortable tinkering with the screws on a laptop, everyone else is terrified of breaking it.

But we will see... Once we see the unedited video doubt should be removed from mind.

guess you haven't noticed, but about 80 percent of the people who have been on nbr..have opened up some part of their laptop...for one reason or another...

    hard drive
    memory
    cpu
    wifi
    bluetooth
    screens

usually upgrades or replace parts that any 10 year can replace and with the ok from the manufacturer.

and his laptop is one of the easiest in the world to open and see almost everything.

    seriously man...let that go...
    ROTFLMAO!

Thats what I am saying, people willing to do it will find nbr. But just because these ppl fine NBR does not mean it is common for a laptop owner to unscrew things.

If u were to stand outside a mall and ask everyone with a laptop if they have ever touched a screw on the machine I bet 99% of the people say no.

    Umm who did you ask?

A company will pretty much always keep "upgradable" components in the specs page with the term "optional" next to it. The fact that an optional upgrade to a modded SLI version is not mentioned anywhere in the specs sheet is a smoking gun. If this mod existed, it wouldn't be so hush hush, word of mouth, tell a friend, call us and ask, wink wink, etc etc. It would be right there and it's not. So you are either trolling, or someone is feeding you BS and you are very very hungry.

Trey, I don't doubt Lhurgoyf, but usually the BIOS has to be ready for 32nm chips. All the mobo's I know of required a BIOS flash to work with 32nm cpu's. That would be wonderful if Clevo had the foresight to code their BIOS back in December with 32nm architecture.

I have a 980X and I'll be dropping it in the D900F soon. But, not just yet....I have some unfinished desktop business to handle first! ;)

i understand this, that why this is a big deal to me that it works on his bios... there was someone who had an early ES version of this chip not to long ago and the d900f wouldnt even boot up with this chip in it. we know it works from his screenshots... although cpuz doesnt actually know what chip is in there (maybe due to an older version). his screenshots clearly show the chip and all 6 cores being found...

so lets get some benchies goin in that rig
