external speakers?
mine seem fine for what they are
-
If you want bass, there's a "Bass Boost" option in your system in the same location as the loudness eqalization. You could try that. But i don't understand why your systems would be so horribly optimized for sound O.O
-
I have the bass boost all the way up. Checked with headphone and every thing sounds much better through them. I just expected more from the external speakers.
-
That seems to have improved it a great deal thanks to everyone who replied. I also found some good settings. Go to the Realtek HD control panel and set to carpeted hallway and soft. Works great in Windows 7 as well.
As a side note I finished Crysis Warhead last night on all enthusiast settings, 4X AA and 1920 X 1080...
Didn't stutter, didn't slow down at all. Blows my mind...
-
that blows my mind ...
-
What type of frame rates were you getting? Have you overclocked your gpu or cpu in anyway? If you don't mind me asking.
-
My last game of Crysis Warhead was unable to play in fullscreen, so I could only run it on Gamer/Mainstream (for ice map with the snow) but when I get a better one I'll tell you all what I can do with the settings in fullscreen hehe
-
I play mine all enthusiast with 2xaa with average 30+fps
at 1900x1080
that will do me -
I can't do it XD only one video card XD
Oddly enough I'm posting constantly in this thread for a laptop I don't even own, when the thread for the laptop I do own seems to have died. Again. Oh how the world has mysterious ways. -
just not enough people buying it i guess?
-
The sound is just pain poor.
Try the VLC player to increase the volume. I also bought the Logitech V20 speakers for traveling, small and sound great. -
Any news yet on the new OC'ing BIOS?
-
A good number of people have it already, it was a very active thread till a while ago, I don't know why it dies so easily.

It has all been said??

Any unlock bios yet??

no problem for me running XP SP3 on this computer. I downloaded and installed nForce drivers 15.25 (available here at nVidia's). decompress them using winRAR, and inside the IDE folders, you'll have the choice between the SATA AHCI drivers (sata_ide) or RAID (sataraid) for use with F6 or directly integrate in your XP CD with nLite... the only thing that is not working are the sensitive keys (but everything is available with FN + xx, so). for the hotkeys to show on the screen, I used the latest XP package available at Clevo's for the M57xTU, which is working without any problem. all other drivers are available from their original manufacturers.
-
I do not have any sound skipping on startup or shutdown. I did try a few audio files no skipping or breakup using media player. Also did try Aion and no issues there either.
-
V20's look pretty sweet and they come with a nice travel case too.
And USB hookup so no external AC Adapter. Nice. -
I run VLC already, it's working out well, but really you re dead on about the sound, I guess something has to suffer though. I will have to look into those speakers as well thanks for the info.
I get about the same as Pman, I play in Windows 7, I am not sure what Pman uses, no overclocking on anything, system is right out of the box, just OS is changed. I am even able to record Crysis, which I have never been able to do before. I recorded this at all the max settings including the 4X AA.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYsiKAa5GF4 -
I wish I could run Crysis fullscreen... It'd be SOOO much better than windowed mode, I get far less FPS in windowed mode >.>
-
Wow that is what I'd consider unplayable frame rates.
-
I take the lack of an answer means no.
-
For recording Crysis: Warhead on Enthusiast settings, 1920 X 1080 and X4 AA? Don't know much about recording games and FRAPS do you?
-
You don't know what unplayable frame rates are do you? I'm just saying that is what I consider unplayable. You can put it on the highest settings and fraps it all you want it is still unplayable.
-
He means that FRAPS slows down the gameplay. Which I know myself to be true. We can't tell his actual smoothness unless he uses an external camera that doesn't tax his already-overtaxed GPU.
In all fairness though, that *is* a prime example of unplayable framerates =) -
I know FRAPS causes the FPS to drop and I was making a simple comment on how unplayable that looked, despite max settings/recording.
-
Even my system can only handle "gamer" settings half the time... The ice maps and the train mission he recorded I must turn back to mainstream to get that level of playability. I do however have to say that in my defense, I have to play in windowed mode due to a REALLY annoying bug where my mouse cursor disappears in fullscreen mode, combined with the fact that if I exit the game while in fullscreen, I *WILL*, with no exceptions, get a BSOD instantly. Playing in windowed mode even though it's at a lower resolution will cause me to get far lower performance due to my video card needing to render my desktop and everything else in the background at the same time as playing the game. So I can't give a proper account of it >.<
I just finished it a while ago, I have to say... that game was SHORT!!! I was hoping for something longer! Not so short =(. It was fun while it lasted though, but it's not something I see myself paying for, unless that annoying bug is because I don't have a legit copy and I'd get nice multiplayer with a proper copy. -
Yeah I prefer max vsync fps (60) than highest graphics settings. I'll take lower settings but native res to achieve high frame rates. I just hate playing when fps drops.
-
If i turn AA set to 2x then i get perfectly playable (ie over 30) in everything i have played so far and have done the level in his video
all on enthusiast
Red faction Gurialla is hard going though! -
lol I can't dream of using enthusiast, though I will again say I have to blame my less-than-special settings to no fullscreen... On the plus side, I am very very very much loving Unreal Tournament 3 and X-Men Origins. Going so well, no lag at all! XD

After waking up one morning, I figured out a problem. Somehow ideas come out when I'm half asleep. Anyway figured I could dual boot, or at least have a live CD to try it out on, but it didn't load the disk and went straight to windows. I thought it was a bios problem but the dvd thing was top priority. But I just now remembered that I burned it as a Live something disk instead of mastered. I have no idea what that did even after clicking the help icon. It was horribly unhelpful. Nor did it give me any options on burn speed or anything. I probably need to get legit software for it. Should I try again or is something wrong with the bios and won't allow dual booting or somethign weird?
-
Are you still half asleep? lol
-
Weird the exact same post nearly 4 hours apart.
-
Yeah. Internet was screwy. I posted it but it kept at the waiting thing. I had to leave and go to class or something so when I got back, it was at the same spot, so I clicked it again. I guess it posted twice. oh well.

Should physX be on for Crysis?
-
The Wiki on PhysX shows which games support it.

This list looks more complete.

Regardless Crysis isn't on either of them. -
I installed windows 7 but can't figure out what software controls the blue led touch buttons.
-
It's not the OSD software? By the way how are you liking the screen on the M980NU?
-
Right now I have the xps 16, beautiful screen, all gaming notebooks should have something at least as good as this RGB LED screen. I also have the m980nu, the color gamut on the sager is really good but the backlighting is terrible. It's really dim and has a sorta dark area that goes across the screen at the bottom half but only really noticeable on white backgrounds. So pretty much whites look really average (to me that's bad). I tried out batman arkham asylum, game runs and looks great but I also tried out WoW and for some reason the game looks really bad on the m980nu screen. I can notice how part of the screen is darker than the rest where the chat frames are. I don't think I will ever be satisfied. The ati 4670 isn't a great performer at all so I will be returning the dell and might just return the m980nu too. A notebook with a top end gpu and an excellent screen (by my standards) simply does not exist.
-
I played with the SXPS 16 for a day with the RGBLED screen and I thought it was nice. The full HD screen on the Sony FW was a little bit better since it looked brighter to me.
-
Yeah maybe one day while I'm still alive some notebook manufacturer will get wise and finally get the idea to throw in sli or single top end gpu and an excellent screen in the same notebook.
-
Most computers with a nice screen have professional cars like quadros, most of the time gaming computers are the most performance for the price, that means the screen is a place they can save money. I don't mind it tho, you never going to get that good of screen quality on a laptop compared to an external display. I'm plugged in 100% of the time I play games so its not a problem gaming on my 28inch external. Although it would be nice to have a super nice screen when I do travel and game on my laptop, but it probably wouldn't be worth the extra money to most people.

how high can you push that cpu? -
have to say that i dont think the screen is bad at all, i had the AW m17 before this and this one is prob superior to that one, only slight downside is when the machine is in direct sunlight can be a little dark
-
That's why we need to see 300-400 nit screens.
-
When playing Crysis on Vista 64 bit do any of you ever get a horizontal line, like a shimmer, across the screen?
-
nope
10 char -
no, but i get something like that when watching the odd hd movie.
is your hdd in raid 0 ?
do you get the click of death ? -
Putting V Sync on in the game stopped it.
-

Ah right, you were just getting screen tearing from lack of sync then, usually most noticeable when you're getting more than 60fps
