ok, thx
I suppose you (or any of the other resellers) will let us know once you have the answer?
obviously, it would be a huge boost in confidence for MXM if it would be possible

We can only speak to a Sager upgrade program should it be released in the future, but yes, one of us will undoubtedly start a new thread announcing it if it happens.
-
As long as it doesn`t require a new mobo again, I`m game
-
Lets just hope the answer is yes, and that the program is launched before Diablo 3 gets released: at that time, I'll definitely want to upgrade my 8700M
-
Diablo 3? I thought they stopped working on it.
-
Maybe, maybe not!
I just keep on hoping
Every now and then, rumours flash up again, so who knows
-
-
what's the wireless for?
-
Forget Diablo 3. Red Alert 3 FTW !!!
-
Nah. I still think the original C&C pretty much beats the crap out off all its successors
-
Pics of my RU, per request.
I`m a terrible photographer, so please excuse my lack of talent

Sure, we can excuse your talent...but who is going to take out all the trash in the background of pictures 2 and 3?
-
Lol,that's not trash, it's a blanket covered with paint, I`m redecorating my room
And my trusty Coca Cola bottle
-
Mmmm.. are there resellers which sell a matte WSXGA+ screen, for approximately the same cost as a glossy one found on the likes of xoticpc, n powernotebooks?
-
Nice pics eleron!
-
In all of my searching, I haven't found a single reseller who does this...
But if you do find one, be sure to tell me
-
We can always 'GIMP' it!

Lol, you moved my house. Now who`s going to pay for transportation ?

Does anyone know if Audigy's SetFSB Auto Tool is compatible with the T8100? If so, what is the PLL#? Is it ICS9LPR363DGLF?
-
The pll number is the clock generator number - that's on your motherboard, not your processor. So, it has no bearing on which processor you have. This means you can use the same one anyone else with the same notebook you have, even if they've got different processors (usually).
-
Ahh..okay, thanks.
But, I still don't know whether Audigy's Tool is compatible with my processor...I'd really like to try to overclock my CPU. -
I can't see why it wouldn't be. His tool does not actually handle the overclocking itself, all it does is interact with SetFSB - which certainly is compatible with your processor. I'd imagine the only potential problems if he doesn't have a version specific to you is that the resultant processor speeds won't match what the tool says they will. Now, I don't know for sure of course, but you could try.
Get the T8300 version, and try with the lowest one first. Have CPU-Z running, record the actual processor speed your getting as a result, and run a stress testing program such as orthos to monitor stability while you're at it.
Then, just rename the files as you go to the speeds you actually get.
Worth a try, anyways
-
Ahh, nope - doesn't work
All of them gives an error right at startup. I guess I'll just have to wait for him to release a T8100 version. Thanks though. -
Dont worry, im stull waiting for the X7900 version
-
You guys need to find out your PLLs if you don`t have a Clevo M57xRU. the one with ICF or something like that in the end is only for RUs.
More details on CPU OCing in the link in my sig. -
Hi. I'm the soon-to-be proud owner of a Sager 5793, courtesy of powernotebooks/Tim. It'll come pre-installed with Vista 64. I've never fussed with Vista, although I have extensive experience with PCs from the TRS-80 through Apple through Amiga through most kinds of Windows. It looks like to me that if I want to wipe off the Vista 64 and replace it with Vista 32, I'll just reformat, install with the Vista 32/64 disk, and finish up with the (hopefully) included drivers disk. Does that about cover it?
Thanks. -
Well, yeah - that's pretty much how you'd do it. My question is, why do you want to do that? What's your reason for removing Vista x64 and downgrading to x86? If your new 5793 comes w/4gb of RAM, are you aware that x86 can't access it all, while x64 can? And if you're processor is 64bit, the same is true. Most x64 users have not experienced any compatibility issues, and drivers are becoming more and more prevalent. Is there another reason you'd go to the trouble of uninstalling your entire OS and reinstalling a lesser version of it?
-
Thanks for the input. Well, I'd like to do it as I've a subscription to SpySweeper, and that doesn't support Vista 64. I bought G-Force, a screensaver program that I really really like, and that doesn't support Vista 64 either. I have some games that apparently have problems with V-64.
Sure, I'm fully aware of the memory access difference, and I'm also aware of the increasing driver compatibility. I only have a printer that I plug in now and then, so I guess driver compatibility doesn't mean much to me.
When you say a 'lesser version', are you meaning that it's slower, less efficient, runs hotter, or....? I'm always willing to have my mind changed, as the older I get, the less I know. -
I suppose by "lesser", I mean less robust security, limited memory access, and lesser CPU potential. I don't think x86 runs less efficiently or more slowly (save for the memory limitation).
If you have programs that are necessary to your system and are not supported by x64, then the decision makes sense. And if your install DVD has both versions, then you will still have the option to switch back to x64 in the future if you want to (if your programs become updated, etc...) -
Lesser CPU potential? Could you kindly explain that one? Thanks.
-
Doesn't make full use of CPU's 64bit architecture. Whether that translates into real-world performance, I don't know.
-
Given that, even after _Vista SP1, XP still has a slight edge, at least in gaming, the answer would appear to be "no" - basically, _Vista gets in its own way too often.
Theoretically, an x86 OS wouldn't be able to use a 64-bit CPU to full advantage for the simple reason that only the lower half of each native byte on the CPU gets used (to put it in a very, very simplistic way
). As such, an x64 OS would, in theory, run rings around an x86 OS.
Trouble is, we're not in a theoretical world, but a real one, where the OS under discussion was written by Microsoft to address the (sometimes conflicting) desires of several classes of users, and to maintain as much backwards compatibility as possible. As a result, you get a frankenstein OS - bits and pieces from different OS's stitched together into one "OS." When you lard onto that the belts-and-suspenders "security" MS feels compelled to provide to "consumer" users, and top it all off with a thick slathering of the useless eye-candy MS invented to visually differentiate _Vista from XP, and you get a ... shall we say, less than optimal OS. -
Shyster, I just love the pictueresque, metaphoric descriptions that you dish out so handily!
-
A major consideration as well is that you need to have 64 bit apps to take advantage of the theoretical gains with 64 bit architecture - specifically, software that actually uses the added ability, not just compiled in 64bit mode.
There are a LOT of "64 bit" apps (eg: recent version of Halo for Vista) that are actually 32 bit applications simply compiled that way basically for kicks(Well, more accurately, for better compatibility). Regular software - 32 bit software - will not run any faster in 64 bit architecture.
Thus, unless you're using true 64 bit applications, the only real gain in going to 64 bit right now is in increased RAM limits, and even then, there it's debateable how much good the added .8 to .5gb you're gaining on a 4gb system is actually going to do for you.
I emphasize "right now" though as one presumes that in the future, more and more software will actually take advantage of 64bit architecture. However, don't expect that to be terribly soon - outside of some "productivity" software, most developers will stick with 32 bit for a good while to maintain compatibility and because when all is said and done a great deal of apps simply don't need 64 bit processing.
In summary, then, if you don't have any 64 bit apps, and face compatibility problems, it's a no-brainer decision.
However, to take it a bit further, IMHO this leads to the inevitable conclusion - you've got two real options:
A) Go with Vista x64 so you won't have to upgrade later, or because you need it now.
B) Go with XP Pro 32 bit for now, reap the (significant) performance gains and mature-os stability, and hold off upgrading to Vista x64 until such a time as you need either the increased addressable RAM or the 64bit OS for true 64bit apps.
XP x64 is *terrible*, and Vista x86 offers naught but worse performance than XP Pro. -
All good points, Winterdark. I want to use Vista, however, so I can learn it. One of the things I do, in my retirement, is to help other senior citizens with their PCs. I know XP well enough to assist them, but I don't know Vista. I read where one can't dual boot Vista 64 and 32, so I think what I'm going to end up doing is to either dual boot V-32 & XP, or just use V-32. I'll probably just use V-32, as I don't have XP that I can load.
I appreciate all the different points of view expressed here. Never hurts to hear other sides of the issue. -
Absolutely. That's a great reason to run x86 too. I tend to look at things from a purely performance based viewpoint, so I often overlook things like that
-
I will say it once more : you`re a hardcore gamer, XP SP3 is for you.
-
New Userbars (taking into consideration previous color suggestions)!!!
-
Comeon guys we all know its about windows sidebar.. thats the best thing in Vista
-
Lol.Not.
Some gadgets are cool but all they do is slow down the system.
And that`s because of the HDD most of the times... -
You can get that for XP.
-
So eleron, did the userbar meet your expectations?
-
No. I need a Porsche user bar
-
Ok, well, then if eveything is alright, Ill close the request over at GXS for the userbars?
-
Wait wait.
On second though no.
I want it,link it to me

Hello right now I have Clevo 570ru (sager 5790) with T7500, 8700M. Bought from R&J tech…
I want to upgrade it:
Which processors are available for this model?
Is it possible to add 8800GTX to this model? If yes where could I buy it? I saw sager site, but do they ship internationally? I live in Lithuania.
And i dont have video tuner which i would like to install, as i see there is empty space for it. Is it possible to buy this component ? or better go with external tv tuner ? -
Yes, and yes. You can use the T8x00 and T9x00 processor lines, and should be able to get the components from most major resellers. There are a few european ones; you may want to check with them first. You can find the contact info in the new Clevo sticky thread.
Probably you'll have great results just contacting your reseller first, you may well want to go that way. -
I have just sent him e-mail. waiting for replay
