Anyone seen any reviews on this?
Looks really nice! Wouldn't mind picking one up if it has good battery life....

This is almost certainly the Clevo B1500M.
This just came out and side a CES 2010 review I don't think anyone has this yet.
The full HD screen option is not suppose to be out until the 16th?
I will be ordering mine from darkpcs.com next Monday.
I would say that this thing is going to be solid just due to Nvidia making it one of the original Optimus display models at CES 2010. The hardware all looks solid, I can't guarantee anything. -
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
Yup, it's brand new and Neuntoter has it right; it's the B1500M. He's also got the date correct, ETA for the 1080p screen is the 16th. There's a thread on it here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/498148-clevo-b5100m-where.html
-
It is the Clevo B5100m. According to Sager tech support (I emailed them), the battery life is, on average, 2.5 hours. I'm not sure what "on average" means as far as settings go, but I'm sure 3 hours could be squeezed out of it. Also, there is a 1080p led based screen that is available for it, which will likely cut power consumption. Sager also claims a 6500 3dmark06 score, which is at the high end of the GeForce 330m's range.
-
Well thats a no in my books then.
Back to Asus! -
I would wait for a real review, assuming you are running this with intelligent power saving methods I have a feeling you should get more battery life than that.
This does have Optimus after all and that number seems low of a midrange 15.6" gaming laptop... -
Awesome notebook for the middle class!
-
@Skwiggler....Regarding your first post. When you copy and paste something like that then you need to provide the source. That is considered plagiarism which we don't allow on this forum.

Sorry, thought it copied in at the top.
Varant from AET Solutions emailed me the information on that. -
Thanks for letting us know.

Does anyone know whether sager produces a 9-cell battery for this model?
2.5 hours is normal and to be expected from 6-cell battery -
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
There is no 9-cell batter for this model. However, there is this interesting tidbit of information: Clevo makes two different 6-cell batteries for this model: a 48.84Wh battery and a 62.16Wh battery. According to Clevo, the 62.16Wh battery gets 300 minutes (5 hours) battery life. Sager currently only carries the 48Wh battery, but I'm trying to see if I can get my hands on that 62Wh one. -
Yeah I had seen only that one from Clevo, I guess I didn't see the difference hopefully you can get that better battery. This notebook though seems designed around good battery life and I really doubt that 2.5 is a fair assessment. Remember this has Optimus in it too, and with proper backlight decreasing and power management you should be able to squeeze out much more.
Full out gaming laptops manage 2.5 hours. Even 2-4 year models pulled 2.5 and I would imagine times are better.
Then again if you are running it on battery with your LED backlight at full and bluetooth, wifi, etc all turned on all while playing the latest games and you opt for the i7 processor, I guess you should expect such a low amount of battery life. -
Wow that would make a huge difference! How do you think it'll impact the price? Or, could this just be somewhat of a battery crapshoot analogous to Samsung shipping random LCD panels with their 226BW monitors (S, A, or C-panels of varying quality but priced identically)?
I'm getting more and more into this new model the more I look at it. It seems to strike a great balance between overall speed, size, portability, and gaming performance for a school/business-oriented user that could occasionally game on it. -
I don't remember any remarkable gaming laptop that could break 2-hours mark with 48Wh capacity battery. If you scale it, 2 hours is good coming from 48Wh battery, counting optimus in.
- HP Envy 15, using maximum brightness, it can reach 2hr 40min idling using 93Wh battery
- By user review, MSI GX640, using max brightness, idling reach 2.5 hours battery life.It uses 9-cell battery (85Wh)
- G73Jh got 1hr 48mins as reviewed from notebookreview.com with minimum brightness. It uses 8-cell battery (75Wh) -

I would think the extended battery would run around $40~60 more than the regular battery, but that's just wild speculation. My account rep at Sager is currently in talks with Clevo to get the extended battery, and I contacted some other Clevo importers and none of them have it. I'm crossing my fingers about it, as a 5 hour battery would probably be the major selling point of the laptop. -
Would you mind letting us know when you get information about the extended battery? I would even be willing to purchase it separately as long as 4 hours was possible. Thanks
G -
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
Don't worry, I'll post any information as soon as I get it
-
So I talked to a guy from Xoticpc and he said that the "high capacity battery" would be an option in their configuration soon. However, when I asked how soon (specifically if it would be by the end of the summer) he said
"I am sorry, I really dont have time frame can help now!"
Not sure why the "can help now!" was tacked on the end, but whatever. So I guess it's a wait-and-see kind of situation for me. I need that extended battery. Does anyone know if I could just purchase it separately from some Sager/Clevo reseller?
Thanks
G -
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
You could definitely purchase it separately if/when it comes out. The last I heard from Sager about it was in an email at 7:14PM last night saying that they're waiting for a response from Clevo about the battery because apparently Clevo never told Sager that the 62.16Wh battery existed.
-
Hey Shane,
Somewhat off topic question, but I was wondering if it is generally more expensive to get a "completely custom" laptop built through DarkPCS. And is it possible to request for example IC thermal compound put on graphics and processor? -
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
We put AS5 on both the graphics cards and CPUs off all our laptop systems standard at no extra charge, and if you wanted to substitute AS5 for IC Diamond we could do that as well. I'd need you to elaborate more of what you mean by completely custom, but please either PM me or email [email protected] to discuss this further.
-
Those guys have a really good site you should check it out, very clean and pretty descriptive.
Price difference is none to cheaper on darkpcs.com from what I can see. -
IKilledYourHamster Notebook Evangelist
Maybe too early to ask but how bright is the full HD screen? I hope the cooling system is good enough for gaming.
-
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
Sadly it's still too early to ask as the 1080p screen has been pushed back by Clevo due to a manufacturing defect. Its ETA is the end of the month with no exact date yet. -
I'm eagerly awaiting your opinion on the quality of the FHD screen on the Dark D15. I've looked at a few laptops for graphics work, and with all the serious issues with the Envy 15, i've decided the D15 looks to be the perfect workstation for me, as long as the screen's brightness is evenly lit and the viewing angles are better than average for a laptop. I would LOVE a matte screen... Shane, do you have any matte screen options on your laptops? Thanks!
-
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
All of the laptops we currently carry only have Glossy screens as an option
. However, something like this seems right up your alley:
ViewGuard Anti-Glare Matte Screen Protector Review
-
this is the perfect replacement for sager 2090
-
Noticed on Clevo's specification page that three screen sizes are available: 1366 X 768, 1920 X 1080, and 1600 X 900 (which I haven't seen on any Sager reseller's page). Wonder if Sager can add this one to Sager 5125 options?
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
At this moment the 1600x900 is not being brought in by Sager.
-
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
And not just by Sager, Pro-Star also doesn't have the 1600x900 option. I'm not sure if any other distributors bought it, or if it went the same way as the battery and Clevo just didn't tell anyone about it.
-
It seems that the full HD screens won't be around until the end of July, according to Sager's website.
Any updates on the 62.16Wh battery? Also, how are the webcams that come in these guys? Christ, I can't wait for a full review! :S -
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
The full HD screens had a defect and Sager's waiting for Clevo's new shipment of FHD laptops, no exact ETA on when they'll be in.
We still no absolutely nothing about the battery, but the camera is a 1.3MP and therefore while not the greatest camera ever, by no means horrible. -
Sager will be conducting an internal review of this battery and decide whether they wish to offer it or not (as they always do this with new Clevo releases). Although it is listed on the Clevo website, this does not mean it is actually available and in stock. We will have this new battery on our website once Sager releases it but they cannot give an exact time frame. In any event, those who wish to purchase the Sager 5125 may do so now and always purchase the newer battery separately once it comes out. Hope this helps

*drool*
With the better battery this thing will be friggin' perfect. I'm sportin' a techboner. -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
FHD screens on the NP5125 will start shipping the first of next week.
-
Woohoo! Hey Justin .. when ordering from XoticPC in Canada, will I get blasted by fees, brokerages and/or shipping?
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
You can avoid brokerage fees by choosing the Express option from UPS.
Feel free to PM or email me if I can help with anything.

Did anyone get to see this in person? How is the build quality? I'm used to thin and squishy laptops. This one looks a lot tougher.
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
We have our first one showing up the end of this week or early next week. Will be sure to report back then.
-
Oh man I really wanna see a review on this baby.
-
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
Just a note to everyone, a 17-inch model of this laptop will also be releasing soon, ETA around early August.
Where did you get this figure from? According to Sager 5 minutes ago the shipment just entered the US border but they have no definitive shipping date and are still keeping to the ETA of sometime within the next 11 days. -
IKilledYourHamster Notebook Evangelist
Is the GPU the same? 330M is a little weak for my taste... -
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
Yeah, it's the same specifications save for the screen size and the base screen is 1600x900 instead of 1366x768. -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Obviously, Sager
Maybe your rep will update you soon.
-
Anyone care to comment on MSI FX600 that's just making it into the market. I5 CPU, 4 GB Ram, Nvidia 325M graphics with optimus, Esata but no USB3, 1366X768 15.6 display, 6 cell battery good for 3 hrs according to website, $800.
-
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
Nope, my rep's saying they're still sticking to not having any definitive date as the shipment hasn't cleared customs yet, even after i specifically mentioned the date you posted. Odd that they'd be giving out conflicting information.
You pay money for better graphics
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
^ I speak in regards to Sager Branded units which always ship out first. We were told shipment will be shipping to customers the first of next week.
Shipment is expected to arrive on Friday FYI.
-
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
Just got off the phone, confirmed still no exact date for either unbranded or Sager-branded units but they should clear customs before the month's out. -
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
It's too bad your rep is not relaying the info we are being updated, guess we will know shortly.
Both the main reps at Sager are already gone for the day 20 minutes ago .
