From what I have been told they are waiting for a order of the hd screens, but you should confirm that with justin.

They mention "this display arrives back into stock"...so I'm assuming that it's the 1080 display...

In any case, I just ordered! Excitement...

Its a while, but its worth it!(Sure I could change to eurocom, but xoticpc eats eurocom for breakfast, than spits it out as it tastes like cr4p

I just ordered from Xotic! But the stupid backorder applies to the entire laptop, it's not components based...damn...Anyone see the South Park episode when Cartman has to wait for the Nintendo Wii? This is what it feels like...

    Sigh...

Similar to Boxcar, ordered the NP9280, got it and then they came out with the NP8690..15" with i7m...RMA'd the 9280, really wanted a 15" not 17" boat anchor. Long story and delays but finally got 8690 on order, no confirmation though, now hear about this delay...now shipping issue as I am going overseas soon..and moving around meantime...maybe this is why little communication on status.

VanFanel mentioned RGB screens, I thought I read somewhere that the 1080 screen is an RGB screen.... delay may be worth it but quite frustrating.

I ordered the 920XM so I can overclock, if but only a bit...and 4GB of 1333 mem. I think that will last some years and will upgrade the GPU when possilbe which seems to be the bottleneck. Also, bought an OCZ agility EX, 60gb SLC based SSD. Faster writes vs the intel offered and since only one SSD slot thought it a good choice.

Thinking of getting some Kingston Hyper X 1600 low latency, even if I run at 1333 I can likely tighten up the timings....does anyone know what the exact memory is that comes with the 8690 for the 1333 4gb option? I think I saw a Kingston label in one photo, not sure of the latency..

GOD WHEN WILL MY 8690 ARRIVE!!!! ARRRRGGHHH... :(

The 1080 screen on the 860 is a standard LED screen, not an RGBLED.

The 860 doesn't support 920xm overclocking. It's big brother, the 870, does support overclocking. Hopefully some OS level apps will appear soon enough to allow some decent OC'ing.

If tight timings were a must, I'd go with the Kingston premium stuff.

    Thanks Electrosoft,

With the delay on the 8690, sigh, and not being allowed to overclock the 920xm (what's the point of extreme without OC?), I decided to change to the 8760 which is in stock and building can start immediately.

Appreciate the quick and helpful reply.

    Cheers

    Hahahaha...no way!

I have a four year old Alienware Sentia! This was before they were bought by Dell, and were using Clevos as their base for laptops. It's 1.6 Pentium M, with Intel Integrated 8920 (some number like that). It can't even play Civ IV...so I think I win...sorry ;)

Hahaha, don't worry, I got that alot...but it worked out well..the little sucker puttered along for four years, with not one issue other than a failed HDD 2 years ago, so I'm proud of it.

But man, when I get my new one, I think I'm going to shut myself indoors for a few days just to catch up on some games I've missed...sigh is it November yet?

Wondering...will the Kingston HyperX 1600mhz 204 pin DDR3 So Dimm with heat spreaders fit into the clevo, 860 0r 870?
Anyone know if it will be compatible? The spreaders double the space requirements.

Well. I'm still using an old Dell 4100 which is powered by the titanic P3 1ghz processor. The hinges on the screen have broken and so the laptop is being held together by sticky tape. In terms of games I can get just about get Age of Empires 2 and Close Combat 2 to run. I think 3D mark 06 refused to even start. It generally takes about 15 seconds for Firefox to load.

I'm mulling over a purchase of the 860MTU or the W860 - do you think I will notice a difference from my current rig?(!).

I think the only difference you'll notice is the hinges will work. I wouldn't even bother upgrading at this point. Wait for the 128 bit processors.

    Thanks SS,

I was thinking it would downclock to 1333 (unless the frequency can be changed on the onchip bus), but I thought with CAS 7 at 1600, I might get CAS 5 at 1333 with that memory by tightening up the timing. Not sure it would make a big difference, CAS 7 seems to be what I am finding for 1333 when I look.

Does anyone know what comes with the Sager for 1333 2x2GB modules? CAS 7 or 9?

Looks like the computer Gods have spoken, it is to be the W870CU/NP8760for me, no time to wait for the 15". I am now crossing to the other side...

    Regards,

Actually my brother's friend's sister's neighbor's buddy's cousin's girlfriend once knew this guy that talked to someone at Microsoft and heard that Windows 8/9 with 128 bit support were actually just Windows 7 with a pretty face and was in fact still based on Vista and XP is still way faster. Not to mention that Mac OS XIII would be out by then and totally kick it's arse, and Linux is free so I'd just wait until the 512 bit 20way processors and those new new new DirectX 14 gpus that will be on die with GQDR6 rams. Just what I heard.

Sager is currently sold out of both screens until the last week of October, or more likely early November.

If it has the Sager brand on it, none of the Sager dealers will have them since Sager builds, burns in and test them before shipping them directly to the user (unless the user is in California, in which case they are usually shipped to the dealer first).

Also, we are finding that even though it is slow due to the recession, they NP8690 sales are very similar to the NP8662 when it first came out. The original shipments sold out very quickly, and we currently have a very long line of people waiting for the next shipment.

Whoever he is, even is he is the boss of Eurocom, it is good to have him in the community.

If he is indeed the whatever-his-name-is then the fact that he is here is good enough proof that he cares about his business and about the opinion of users on whatever he is doing. We should all capitalise on that.

If he is not, then you are just picking on someone for no reason...

Besides, is someone wants to be anonymous, it is his choice. If you are assuming he is the boss of Eurocom, then just treat him as he is and be done with it. But don't make a big deal out of it, it won't help any of us.

And on top of all, this thread is going seriously off-topic!

I don't know whether Panther911 is Mark, the owner of Eurocom, or not...but if he is, then it is against NBR rules not to identify himself as such and have the gray User ID and the title Notebook Retailer like the rest of the resellers here.

If he is not, it is easy enough for him to speak for himself.

Eurocom, shouldn't even be an option, if you are buying a Clevo, get one from Donald Stratton above^ or Xotic or R&J Tech, at least with these guys you will be treated with dignity and respect as well as good prices, and honesty and you will actually get what you order.

Buying from Eurocom is just looking for trouble.

Can any of the other owners give me some start-up/sleep/hibernate times. It took mine nearly 2 minutes to get out of sleep & approx. the same time to start up.

Not sure what I can do to speed this up, besides getting rid of some of the unnecessary tasks. I haven't had time to run through the vista/cpu tweaks yet. (I'm still waiting on my Windows 7 to arrive).

I guess what I'm wondering is, is this normal? Are there some certain tests that I could run to verify the issue, if there is one. Or should I just wait until I get my copy of Windows 7 and ignore it in the meantime.
