Doesn't start the fan at least, I'll try again after it gets stuck.
Edit: Doesn't work.
-
-
fn + 1 is fan control on the HM's , EM uses that to disable touchpad.
iaTa do you know how the heck I should go about installing new drivers? I can't even get the stock driver to install at all, not even juts catalyst -_- -
Ok, it evetually stops, I guess it want's to go down to a certain temp to stop the fans.
-
nononono fn + 1 is turbo fan for both HM and EM, its fn + f1 that disable touchpad.
-
Jesus that is awesome I didn't know. haha. Now one of my fans is stuck on though and won't turn off -_-???
-
Doesn't do anything for me at all. Are you sure this is still in? Does it only work when the discrete gpu is active?
-
Mine worked and my dGPU 7970m doesn't work at all currently; so I think it works regardless.
-
Actually drive platter density sort of cancels that, 1tb 5400RPM drives are just slightly slower than 750GB 7200RPM ones.
No, there's no way 7990m will be here before fall.
That's Fn+f1, not Fn+1.
No it isn't, the EM doesn't have a turbo fan hotkey. The only way to activate it is to make the GPU go above 93*C. Multiple resellers (and me) have confirmed this. -
The Intel and AMD driver are the video drivers for the laptop. You will need both in order for the computer to function properly. The reason is because with the switching graphics, the discreet graphics card (7970M or 675M for example) pass through the iGPU before outputting to the display and the iGPU will not allow you to simply bypass it and run solely on the discreet card in these laptops.
The Intel Rapid Storage drivers are generally intended for SSD and RAID, but many others have found them beneficial for improved performance of the hard drive in general. Solved What is Intel Rapid Storage Technology? Do I need it? - Windows 7 Forums and you do not need an mSATA drive to utilize IRST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology). -
At work, during lunch got Afterburn to work, running it at 950/1400. And played Witcher 2 for about 10 minutes. MY GOSH! I've never seen a game look so beautiful and run so smooth. On the G73JH with HD5870M overclocked I was playing it all low settings @ 1080 pretty much and getting around 25-30 FPS. It's incredible!
-
Fn+1 makes my EM sound like an airplane taking off, so I'm assuming it works...
-
yup, fn + 1 for me does the same
-
Me three.....I think Eblar's machine must be defective.
-
My machine is detective as hell. I'm rma it once they send me a code. Unbelievable that I can't get the gpu to work without bsod at all when it's the most expensive part of the laptop. Guess I'll study all week instead. .. *cries in corner*
-
Hopefully it will be a brand new machine for ya. Sorry for the hassle man. In the meantime, you can always go see Magic Mike in theaters!
-
lollololololol
-
Well, actually, for each non-consecutive block of data in a file on the HDD, you are seeking for it (unless perfectly defragmented). So the 5400/7200 ratio in disk spin is aggregated. Then the actual read is also slower. really, get an SSD as soon as you can, and life is much more pleasant.
-
was gonna pick one up next paycheck
u think the 128gb one will be enough for me? im not going to be storing tons of music/games i will only have like 2-3 games installed at a time max, have os on it, and keep all my programming files which really doesnt use much space
plus i can put the 500gb stock drive in optical bay if needed -
I'm running a 128 M4, have league of legends, diablo 3, office, itunes (with some music), programming software, Powerdvd 12 and more. I have 70 GB to spare. Up to the individual but for me it is plenty.
-
256GB SSD prices are dropping like a rock. You can get a Crucial M4 256GB for < $200, if not much less. Samsungs not going for much more and are pretty much the fastest reliable drive you can buy.
-
I assume this includes the OS as well?
-
OS doesn't take up that much space. 10-20 gb's fully upgraded maybe. My old old vaio only has a 60gb ssd and it has OS ms office a few random programs warcraft 3, itunes a bunch of music files and I still have 12 gbs to spare.
-
10-20 GB on a 128GB ssd is pretty significant. And of course if you have only a few applications and some old games, you won't be filling much space...
-
All right, I guess I shouldn't complain to much. I guess I'm still cranky and the not-first come first serve basis. lol
-
Yes, WIN 7 Ultimate. As HTWing mentioned, prices are dropping fast so you might want to go a bit bigger.
-
Now I'm worried... PNB was very clear the hotkey was removed, and someone (either myth or LPC) backed them up. Going to ask about this somewhere else.
Problem is, he needs space... If only the ODD was SATAIII.
Don't forget that the 512GB M4's are dropping even faster, they're hovering around the $350 mark but have very volatile pricing (this was discussed a few pages back). -
Sata II vs III isnt really a big deal. For a mechanical hard drive it wont make any difference at all.
-
So...any thoughts?
-
Did you pay the iron price for yours?

Hi guys ! I am brand new to this forum.
You guys made me spend 2300$ on a beautiful Sager NP9150
. I was looking to buy an Alienware but when I read, in this forum, about Sager, you convinced me...
Therefore, I was waiting anxiously my new laptop and I finally received it today...
The laptop arrived in good condition but there's a problem with the Blu-Ray player... I putted a movie in it and I tried to watch it with Power DvD 10 (the default program that came with the laptop) When I load the movie with Power DvD 10 I get an error message that tell me that my resolution doesn't support that kind of video (I have a res. of 1900x1080).... then my screen flash all black then I get a fatal error blue screen and I have to reboot my laptop... I need your help to understand what part can be broke or wrong ... Did the 7970m is incompatible with some blu-ray player... I have already try to update the drivers of my Blu-Ray but they are up to date... Can you help me to understand how the laptop manage both video card, the one onboard and the 7970m, do I have to disable the Onboard one ? Maybe the problem is Power DVD 10... Maybe is in my BIOS...
Thanks a lot !!
-
Try reinstalling your Intel/AMD Drivers (which install together from ur disk, btw). Use DriverSweeper (google it, idk the link) to remove the current drivers.
-
WE DO NOT SOW
-
man i cant wait for next season
OT: according to ups my 9150 will come on tuesday -
Just placed my order through XoticPC! Time to join the waiting bandwagon. Have they caught up on the backorders/pre-orders yet? My only hope is they take their time and assemble my laptop without any problems. Here's what I went with:
Matte screen
i7-3610qm
IC Diamond Thermal
7970m
8gb 1333mhz DDR3 (I can upgrade later if needed)
Remove branding
500gb 7200rpm (Plan to buy a ssd to replace later)
Combo Dual Layer Supermulti DVDRW/CDRW
Intel Advanced-N 6235 -
It actually appears to be pretty random so I wouldn't worry about it. Works for some, doesn't work for others. Who knows why.
-
Whoever put the sleep button between the mute and volume buttons needs to be fired. Why would they think this was a good idea?? I've already accidentally put my computer into sleep mode 4 times.
Does anyone know a way to disable the hotkey without disabling sleep?
Maybe only the ones built by Sager have the hotkey? Can anyone who bought from Myth, Malibal, or Eurocom pitch in? -
This is for a dual SSD config.
Considering as it was PNB who first said that the hotkey was removed, I doubt it. If anyone should have it, it should be mythlogic as they do custom bios. -
I can confirm that FN + 1 definitely enables super fan mode on both my P150EMs. Honestly, through all the games and benchmarks I've run, I have NEVER heard the fans this loud...not even close actually.
EDIT: For what it's worth, with FN + 1 enabled for 5 minutes, my idle temps went from 50-52C down to 38-39C. Holy cow...and When I turned off super fan mode, and the CPU temp was that low, the fan actually turned itself OFF until it reached 55 again. Weird. -
I'd run it the whole time while gaming lol
-
Going a few pages bak, I think my fps was choppy because I was playing on battery? The next day I played diablo 3 while plugged in and it seemed perfect. Would that be why my fps seemed like it dropped, because I was playing in battery?
Another question, do I need to take my battery out while plugged in? Or is the battery not being used period while plugged in to where it makes no difference. -
I bought from eurocom and jet engine mode indeed works.
But my 7970m doesn't and I'm trying to RMA it. -
yes on battery you wouldnt be using dgpu
leave the battery in while plugged in -
On battery power, you use the HD 4000 instead of the dedicated GPU.
And you need to leave the battery in or else it won't charge. -
What about when it's at 100% battery? Is it safe to leave in while plugged in
-
Yes, it is safe. The power will bypass the battery and go straight to powering the system. However, the battery will be damaged by heat, so if you're gaming while plugged it, I would remove the battery.
If you really want to run the 7970M on battery mode (you would get like 30 - 1hr of battery life like this probably), you can go into CCC and go under PowerPlay, select High Performance for battery. -
I've noticed that the battery doesn't even feel warm while gaming and plugged in
-
But the PSU could heat a small room on its own!!!! The heat it puts our is crazy. I wonder if anyone who has a thermal gun can check the temps of the PSU during a benchmark or a ton of gaming.
-
Oh, OK. I don't feel so bad now because one of my cores already idles at 35-36*C. I wish I knew what made the difference (with the fan mode), could it be the GPU?
What software would I use to check the temps on m HDD's? The panel on the bottom where the 1st one is is very hot to the touch even after it has been inactive all night. -
HW Monitor shows my drive temps. My Samsung fluctuates wildly between 29c and 31c.
-
I posted last week about my P150EM having a couple dead pixels, just wanted to post an update about my positive experience. Moral of story- if you are sensitive/worried about dead pixels just pay for the warranty it is worth it. PNB was great in setting up the RMA next day and the process was easy. I got personalized service from the tech at Sager (thanks Allen, if you read these forums) which was a pleasant surprise, and they replaced my LCD no questions asked. I paid for next day return shipping and they sent it out immediately. The new screen is flawless, no stuck or dead pixels. I haven't run any benchmarks yet but so far the laptop has exceeded my expectations. I love it.
One unrelated note- I did purchase a Samsung 830 SSD and it is 7mm. If you don't use/have a spacer it does wobble a bit and I was worried it might get dislodged at some point. I had a spacer from an older Intel SSD that I just lightly scotch-taped onto the Samsung (not possible to screw it on), and it is solid as a rock for now, did not want to glue anything. I did not buy the Samsung laptop kit version of the drive which does have the spacer I believe. Just FYI.
