When you say stability do you mean reliability, less freezing, BSOD's etc or the gaming performance is better? Also do you know any articles etc to prove this? Thanks
-
thank you very much for the insight
-
Less freezing, and haven't heard of many crashes nor BSOD's on W8.
No idea regarding the gaming performance. -

Just my general perception from reading posts on the forum.
I read far to many to be able to reference all my posting so you will just have to take it or leave it i'm afraid. -
I actually haven't had any BSOD's or reliabilty issues with any drivers I've installed on this machine and I've installed quite a few in the short time I've had it (probably jinxed it now lol) the problems I'm getting are simply Enduro based ie performnce in games so that's all I'm trying to fix at the moment, I think my best course of action is to wait for the latest official driver from AMD and if that doesn't improve things try out Windows 8. P.s probably a stupid question but is it easy enough to set up a dual boot option on this machine?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Just like any other machine.

Am I the only one who finds the blinking hard drive light irritating?
-
I just recently got my Sager NP9150 from XoticPC.
Here is my unboxing video:

Nice video and thanks for taking the time to shoot it. Did you use a DSLR?

I had a guy the other day that refused to buy a machine without that light. I consider it annoying personally and try to cover it up whenever possible. -

Great unboxing! Congrats on the new system -
After having used the computer for a few hours, I am starting to not notice it as much. But god, it blinks once every second. I think I am going to cut a piece of black tape and cover it up.
-
Unfortunately, you can't. The bios are very... Locked down, and it's impossible to access the fan tables.
-
Nice!
good video, liked the speedup and nice camera

Hello everyone! Yesterday i bought this laptop (russian version because i'm from Russia) and this my first laptop with AMD and goes without OS. I already install wimdows7, drivers and 12.11 driver from AMD website but games don't work(black screen in app). What i need to do more? Maybe some another drivers? or older and more stable versions of drivers? Do i need to change bios? Hope for yours help, guys
p.s. If its not difficult, maybe you can make the instructions?
Thank you
p.p.s i can install win8 if i need this -
I have no idea what the point of the HDD indicator is, it's annoying as hell, the HDD is obviously doing something or not. Still better than an Acer though, some of those are worse than disco balls. I saw a guy at a lecture the other day with an Acer that had about 5 blinking LEDs in different colors, ?

o4en ploxo...
try reinstalling the drivers, using the beta drivers AMD made, what games have you tried? this is not good -
I'm running 3dmarks 11 and for some reason it doesnt detect my 7970, instead only the intel integrated graphics shows up.
I'm running extreme settings and I dont get more than 10fps.
Is this normal for you guys?
my amd driver is 8.982.6.0 -
I think it doesn't switch properly to AMD and stays on the on-board HD 4000.
try to see in the AMD menu that you're using the dedicated GPU and not the on-board one.
I have an nVidia card so I can't check but I used to have a lenovo e320 with HD3000 and Radeon 6630 and the drivers are usually bretty bad.
There's a guy who ports the latest drivers into packages that work well with enduro, you might want to check it out:

Where exactly is the amd menu?
I'm currently using Windows 8 and the only thing I can find is the catalyst program which is very limited -
the catalyst program is the menu, did you enable the advanced mode? in the top right corner there's a small icon, click it and enable advanced

Guys,
What is the latest and greatest 7970 driver/CCC version? I tried a Blu-Ray external drive a week ago, and the PowerDVD Blu-ray playback software said that my graphics card (or driver) did not support blu-ray. I took the drive back and spent the $100 on a Sony Blu-Ray with video streaming, but it got me thinking that the 12.11 (I think) enduro performance fix software I have on here is still beta. So, where SHOULD I be, and how do I check the version I have? Thanks in advance. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Any major drivers will likely be posted in the main sager section as they get released. Just keep an eye out.
-
I'm going to do that today when I get home.
-
I also had the black screen when I first tried playing this game called "Blacklight Retribution" & "Minecraft".
I remember doing this for a fix:
- control panel
- search "device manager"
- drop down "display adapters"
- right click AMD 7970m and update driver.
After that, I installed this catalyst:
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/AMD_Catalyst_12.11_Beta11.exe
Restart your computer and it should work. -

Ok so I in my Catalys Control Center on the top right corner under the X to close I see a button that says Preferences, from there I click on ADVANCED VIEW.
Now what should I do?
A couple of tabs on the left hand side appeared
Presets, Desktop Management, Video, Gaming, and Power. -
Under Power, make sure it's under high performance (or whatever its named)
Also try running a program like Kombustor, or Furmark right before running 3DMark
good luck -
I no longer have this issue. You just need to update your ME8 firmware and ME8 drivers. Speaking with Mythlogic, was told ME8 isn't just about security, it controls a lot more than that. To get that resolved, just go to PREMA's custom bios website. On every notebook, if you scroll down there will be links to he updated firmware and drivers. He also has a great guide and files needed to create your USB boot disk. It's all there.

I ran furmark and actually tried one of the test. Weird thing is that it only detects 1 gpu. and its not the amd 7970 instead the Amd Wimbledon xt.
I ran the 1080 bechnmark, and I didnt get over 6 fps on Furmark.
In 3dmarks I'm running everying on extreme, and i dont go above 8fps.
Are these good?

How much battery life would i be looking at with a 680m, but was only word processing and had the brightness to 10% on power saver mode?
-
4 hours tops I would say. The 1080p screen is much to blame I think.

Has anyone used the astro a40 headset with the 9150 or 9170? Just curious if sound quality warrants the price tag.

Hi,
I just got my Sager NP9150 today, I'm really happy about it, but I can't change the color of the backlight keyboard. I'm pressing the FN button and the button above the "8" on the keypad, but it's not working. I'm following the exact steps in the instruction manual and in the XoticPC video, but it's not working. The screen for light variation isn't popping up.
Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
-Vincent -
Try to reinstall your drivers for the backlit keyboard
or get the latest drivers from SAGER's site.
-
I will try that, but the other functions for the keyboard (like brightness, turning off touchpad, etc) work, it's just the keyboard color that doesn't work.
-
try FN+ESC
-
Ok I need a lot of help...
This is the specs of my NP9150

I accidentally uninstalled the driver for my
Network Controller and PCI device
Where do I download the driver again? Which company is the driver? Is it Realtek? Is it Killer?
I really don't know and I need help. I'm using direct ethernet connection right now typing all of this, but I can't use wireless
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance -
Hey guys I'm thinking about getting one for Christmas but I'd like to know how fat this is in inches. I also need it for school therefore I don't really want to be lugging a giant thing around. My friend has an m15x and boy that thing is FAT.
-
do you have hotkey installed? those other functions might be embedded controllers so just because they work doesn't mean you have the utility that controls the keyboard backlighting installed properly. although i'd be surprised if it wasn't because that's an easy xotic QA/QC.
W7 or W8? either way the driver for your killer 1202 can be found here. no offense but google is your friend.
here, scroll down to dimensions. 35~43mm, or 1.37" at it's lowest and 1.69" at it's highest. -
It might be lighter than m15x by almost a kilo but carrying 4kg is not that much fun if you're doing it on a daily basis.
-
Thanks for the help with that. I was panicking because this is the 2nd day I've owned this thing and I'm already messing it up
I am still missing the PCI Device though. Any help or direction on that? Much appreciated, thanks in advance -
windows 7 or windows 8? try the card reader driver. that device was tricky to pinpoint for me. if you want to be sure though, go to device manager, properties, details tab, 'hardware ID' from the dropdown, and google the vendor/device ID. the card reader's looks like this, for example: PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5289&SUBSYS_51051558&REV_01. take out the "PCI\" prefix before you search.
-
I'm running Windows 7 Service Pack 1. I will try that ASAP as soon as I get home, thank you.

If you mod a slim alienware power brick to the right cable you can reduce that total by a few hundred grams

So I've spent the entire day going back and forth. I'm about to pull the trigger on a NP9150 from xoticpc.com I originally ordered it with the 7970m, but I'm leaning towards the 680m due to the Enduro and driver issues. I can't find anything up-to-date. Those who have the 7970m, are you still having issues with the drivers, framerate drops, glitches? I'll mostly be playing Battlefield 3, Natural Selection 3, Far Cry 3, Guild Wars 2, etc.
-
renxwar,
I have the 680M. Initially I did order the 7970m but in the end changed my mind because of all the driver issues out there. The 680M has been rock solid and I haven't had even one crash in any of the games I've played (touch wood). I have most trust in nVidia's drivers. -
If you want the least possible trouble then go with Nvidia.
-
Thanks for the help guys. I didn't need much to sway me over to the 680m. I don't get a lot of time to play games, so when I do I want to load it up and run it.. not spend a day trying to get the drivers going, a day troubleshooting, and a day tweaking.
-
So I got a Sidewinder X4 keyboard for christmas, and I love it so far. What I don't love, however, is the software, which doesn't recognize my older intellipoint optical mouse. Basically. all my macros are gone and I can't adjust anything. Does anyone know an easy way to add this model or something?
