I just recorded me doing Skele King in nightmare:
Diablo III Sager 9130/Clevo P151EM - YouTube
It's still uploading so check back in 2.5 hours from the time of this post, I recorded it at 720p w/ 70% compression (hence the lack of quality). FPS suffered, my GPU was not at 99% usage, it would drop down to 50% usage in tough scenes and 70% usage in non-tough scenes. I can record BF3, but... that's going to suffer even more. Maybe I won't compress, but that 14 minute vid was 2GB, i'll stick in a flash drive so i don't wear down my SSD too crazy (yeah unnecessary, I know, just a little paranoid)

As I said in the previous post, I did this for the individual Diablo 3 processes as well, and the graphics still slow down and become very stuttery. Only once the power cord is plugged in do the graphics run smoother and more appropriate to what I expect a 670M to run at.
Is this not normal? Should I contact customer support? Or are you mistaken? -
your telling me you cant use the 670 while on battery?
-
Hey, guys, I'm new here.
I'm considering getting a NP9130 in the next couple of days, as my old np2092's videocard seems to have died a final death a few days ago. I'm thinking about getting it from XoticPC with the following upgrades:
- 15.6" FHD 16:9 "Matte Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright LED Anti-Glare Screen w/ 95% NTSC Color Gamut (1920x1080)
- i7-3610QM processor
- Intel® Advanced-N 6235 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module + Bluetooth
Any comments? Am I missing anything? I'm hoping it will last me at least 4 years, like its predecessor. -
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
Oh on battery... I'm not sure if that's possible, I remember someone on the 9150 forum saying that there's not enough power coming from the battery pack to support the discrete GPU.
Looks like you won't, but not a deal breaker for me as I didn't expect to anyways.
Nope, that's pretty much my build, I went for IC Diamond, but that's only getting people 2-5C difference. It's really ridiculous that it's a $30-$35 upgrade... I mean it's dirt cheap since they buy industrial amounts of the paste (was told this by Larry @ LPC), but I went for it anyway, my temps are good so yeah. -
The base line 9150 is worth the upgrade over the 9130. The stock 9150 keyboard flat out beats the 9130. The ability to upgrade the GPU if you so choose down the line is huge and will increase the life of your laptop.
For 200 more and equal specs the 9150 is the way to go. Like I have said I returned my 9130 and going to try out a 9150..... If it ever gets here.
If the 9150 is annoying as the 9130. I'll go MSI ge60 -
I believe it is the way to go. Problem is here in the philippines 1500$ is a lot of money, here people are paid by the day and minimum wage is like 10$ a day lol. I am a student and my budget at max would be 1200$ @-@. If i opt to get the 9150 i guess i gotta get saving again for it hahaha which would delay me getting a new laptop. Anyway i dont plan on getting a new laptop asap, as i would like to weigh my options very well and look at reviews(which i do o so often) another reason i am doubting sager is the warranty, if something goes wrong that means i gotta ship it back to where i got it, which would cost alot of money, the reason why i am considering big name laptops like the ge60/g55(which is expensive given the specs and compard to the 9130 which is a laptop in my opinion worth every penny).
Anyway would love it if you gave your thoughts on the 9150 if you get it!
Currently:Macbook unibody 13.3 late 2008.
Getting a 9130 or a 6110. -
Hey guys, I just bought the NP9130 and I am really really hopeful someone here can help me with a huge problem.
I cant play any games with my laptop. I get a BSOD from "nvlddmkm.sys" when I try to play. Sometimes I can play for an hour after a fresh driver re-install, but most of the time it crashes on start-up. Apparently there's very poor driver support for the 670M... shame on me for deviating from ATI. I am getting so frustrated that if I can't figure out a way to fix this this weekend, I'm going to try returning the laptop to XoticPC, which sucks because it's not their fault.
Please help me guys! -
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
Lol, no you're the first problem with a 670M driver problem I've seen here, have you tried uninstalling both the Intel and Nvidia drivers? then install the Intel driver and the latest Nvidia drivers from their site. As for who has better driver support... it's Nvidia hands down
I LOL'd so bad.
-
Yes, I've uninstalled both drivers, and reinstalled both with the latest drivers. And the second-latest drivers. And every combination inbetween.
-
I just purchased a 9130 through my re-seller reflexnotebook.ca, and Ive read in a few NBR threads that you can absolutely upgrade the GPU to a 75w or 100w with 180w PSU upgrade. The 7970m or GTX 680m will be my upgrade later next year when games start to really push the GTX 670 to its knees.
-
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
Hmm I don't know then, did you use driver sweeper? And finally, before you return the laptop (because that's what i would do) try a fresh install of windows.
Else, I'm thinking it's more of a software problem (did you also install the drivers in the order it has in the manual?). Haven't heard a complaint re: the 670M here so far, so you might just be a one-off case. -
I'm going to try a fresh Windows install tonight. It sucks but I hope it works.
Nvidia won't let you install the drivers out of order. It gives you an error message if you install it before the Intel drivers. After two days of trying to fix this problem I agree I must be a very special case. So I'm thinking it has to be an issue with Windows. I really hope I fix it tonight.
Thank you for your help. -
I read on gentech's site that the 9130's card was indeed user upgradeable.
GenTech PC - Sager NP9130 (Clevo P151EM1) w/nVidia GTX670M
Can anyone confirm this? If it is indeed the case, i don't know if a light-up keyboard justifies the extra $200. -
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
yep, should be, I mean I'm about 98% sure, but the 9130 is just a watered down 9150, only thing difference is the keyboard physically... I guess that'd be a good question for the resellers or sager themselves, but I mean from this:
XOTIC PC - Sager NP9150 (Clevo P150EM) Video Review - YouTube
it looks the same and I've also heard that the GPU is user upgradeable too, but if i'm right and it's the EXACT same laptop just different config, then yeah, the GPU is upgradeable, and I seriously think they're the EXACT same thing, just different config to meet a different pricepoint -
Just bought a NP9130 through XoticPC during the Independence Day promotion, which provided me with free 16GB of DDR3 1600Mhz RAM and a free 750GB 7200RPM HDD after opting for the $70 upgrade to the Core i7-3610QM Ivy Bridge!
I also chose the Bigfoot Networks Killer Wireless-N 1103 (3x3) wireless card for wireless gaming in my college dorm this fall. I won't be getting it until around the 1st of August as I won't be in the US until then to pick it up, but I am nonetheless excited!!
-
BIOS & EC 05 enable GTX680M & 7970M support for this Notebook.
-
Great thanks for the info guys. The 9130 looks like the best option at the moment. The hardest part will probably be finding companies that sell mobile cards as standalone products.
-
And the larger 180W PSU depending on what card you have in mind.
Although I'm pretty sure that Pro-Star, Eurocom, R&J Tech, Mythlogic and even some Sager resellers could set you up. (And I'm just covering North America here.) -
Did you upgrade the screen?
I'm in a situation whether to buy one today as the sale ends.
Seems though like a good deal. -
No, I didn't upgrade the screen because I've heard people say the standard one is already very impressive - the 95% gamut is more for people in photography and photo manipulation that need colors to be as accurate as possible. Also, I read this article which made me even more against getting one, aside from the lack of funds to do so anyways: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/674980-why-high-gamut-screens-not-suited-gamers.html
-
what sort of overclocking & score results are you guys getting with the GTX 670m?
-
I'm planning on buying the Sager NP9130 around August with the following upgrades -
IC Diamond thermal compound, i7 3720QM
I wanna know if the i7 3610QM is good enough for the 670m or will it bottleneck my laptop's performance? I wouldn't mind going for the 3610QM(160$ cheaper =D).
I'll be using this laptop for college and will be coding a lot(Computer Science major) is the upgrade to the 3720QM worth it? -
I'm planning on buying from xoticpc by the way, they seem to be pretty reliable
and their customer support seems top-notch. -
to upgrade the gpu to a 7970 would i need a different psu for the p150em too? or just a change in bios?
-
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
Haven't tried OCing yet, but I'm getting 3100 points on 3DMark11 consistently
Lol, the 3610QM will not bottleneck the 670M in any stretch of the mind, i bet a nice Core 2 Duo will be good enough for the 670M. I'm also a CS major too and you don't need quad-core considering that 1) your programs won't be big enough to utilize that much power (I may be wrong) and 2) if you do need that much power, your school will probably have you SSH into their servers and run it there.
wait... 150em? you're in the wrong thread, but if you have a 150EM, and you wanted to upgrade to the 7970M, whether or not you need a PSU depends on which PSU you currently have. -
Think it'd be best to save $ and spend on something else more worthy.
Thanks for the advice!
BTW: Anyone think that the mSATA SSD is worth getting? -
I am extremely pleased with my purchase of the 95% gamut screen. I went with the glare type and absolutely love the vibrant colors. Instead of picking up an mSATA SSD you should just purchase an SSD and install it yourself for much cheaper. Finally, if you want to save another $35 or so get the stock thermal compound and upgrade yourself. It is much cheaper and I have heard a lot of people getting bad paste jobs.
-
Did you go with the i5 or i7 chip?
Surprised about the bad paste jobs.
Reckon must be fairly simple to apply.
Just noticed that Xotic has extended their upgrade sale until July 16!
I can gain more insight to this laptop & don't have to be pressured to purchase right away!
-
I see this thread being filled with people and there new orders but no one with oc results , temps and score's on the GTX 670
-
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
Uhh... I replied to your post above... i get 3100 in 3DMark11 and after 3 hours of diablo 3, I get ~65C on CPU and 73C on GPU
After an hour of BF3, if i remember correctly, I get ~70C on CPU and 75C on GPU. Only reason I don't remember is because they're more than respectable temps for what they are -
ahh yes i just typed the wrong model number
-
I did see your 3dmark post I do appreciate it, would you be willing to OC your GTX 670m? would definitely like to see some BF3 on Ultra settings FPS / temps...I also think you would be the first to post a OC in this thread lol
also did you use stock paste? -
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
Yeah if i did OC that would be the first. But even with a OC, i'd prob only get medium at at least 60 FPS. I'm barely getting 60 FPS on lowest settings at 1080p though (I don't see a difference between my desktop and my laptop though). I got IC Diamond on my card.
And... guys try FN+1... I just accidentally pressed it while trying to press FN+F1 and my fan took off scared the heck out of me (thought i killed something) -
Thanks for the info Achusaysblessyou, my friend has an m17x r3 with sandy [email protected] turbo boost to 3.6GHz(I don't remember the specific model number) and the Radeon 6950m gpu. He says that his cpu doesn't seem to be powerful enough for the gpu so that's why I was considering the upgrade to the 3720qm.
Btw, it's nice to see another CS major here with the Sager NP9130, are you going to college or are you already studying there? And which college are you in? -
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
I'm going to be a Senior and I'm attending Cal (UC Berkeley)
Hmm interesting, the SB is more than enough for that GPU... of course it depends what game... Although a 2.6 GHz up to 3.6GHz sounds like a dual-core (most quad-cores are clocked lower) but I could be wrong. In any case, if he's playing a game where the CPU is a limit, that usually happens when the game is really easy on the GPU and he should be getting really good FPS's to begin with (could be driver issues, or something else too). -
It's a quad-core. He's recommending I get the 3720qm upgrade but I'm not too sure
@Achu -> Woah, nice. I'll be a freshman at UIUC this fall. -
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
Ahh, okay, well the 670M's sufficiently weak such that it will bottleneck your CPU rather than the other way around. However, if u wanna record yourself while gaming with fraps, etc you'll need the extra CPU power (recording 720p with 70% compression in D3 cost me about 15 fps and 20 in hectic scenes... But it was with compression.) Other than that I don't think you'll need the upgrade.
Ahh UIUC =) I've yet to visit it, but in any case, from a senior who did way too much gaming in his earlier years, not sure if you want to buy the Sager...
I came out okay, (can't say the same for my GPA)
-
Hey guys! After about a month researching and trying out different laptops (even buying 1 and returning it...) I think I've finally landed upon something that will satisfy my needs for college this fall, as I must leave my desktop 7 hours away at home.
I ended up ordering the 9130 from LPC-Digital with the following specs
15.6 Full HD 16:9 LED-Backlit MATTE Ultra Clear
16GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz - 4 X 4GB
6X Blu-ray Reader/8X DVD±R/2.4X +DL Super-Multi Drive
750GB 7200rpm SATA 300 Hard Drive
IC Diamond Thermal Compound - CPU + GPU
Intel® Centrino Advanced-N 6235 - 802.11a/b/g/n + Wireless LAN + Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Module
NEW! 3rd Generation Intel® Core i7-3610QM Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.30 GHz)
NVIDIA® GeForce GTX 670M 1.5GB GDDR5
I sprung for the WiFi, CPU, Blu-ray, and TIM upgrades, and also got the HDD and RAM upgrades for free from the July 4th special! I also ordered a 120Gb mSATA SSD from Newegg. I cant wait for the system to arrive! -
Very nice! I ordered a system that's almost identical to yours. I'm very excited to receive mine soon.
I, too, will be around 7 hours (by plane) away from my desktop, which is why I ordered this system for college life.
-
Lol, I guess I'll have to keep the gaming in check
And thanks, I guess I'll see just research a bit on the processor, I'll be buying the laptop about a month later so I got a lot of time. -
Just checked out the xoticpc website and they're now offering a copper cooling upgrade on the Sager systems, any comments on this guys?
-
Have a look at this thread.
-
Out of curiosity, did anyone go with the 95% gamut glare type? I am a stickler for vibrance/contrast and was willing to deal with the addition of some glare (really isn't even that bad in most situations) for the previously mentioned reasons. I only see people with matte screens on this forum. Finally, if you are on the fence about getting this computer you shouldn't be. I absolutely love it.
-
After a lot of lurking on this thread, I finally placed my order today.
Just got the i7-3610, IC Diamond thermal compound, 16 gig ram and 750 gig hard drive upgrades. I'll be taking the delivery after I reach the United States in early August for grad school. -
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
No, any glare for me outweighs the miniscule improvement of the screen since it'd make it unusable for me. But truth be told, the matte coating doesn't seem to be taking much away from this panel, it's not that bad, the whites look white compared to my company issued T420 (thinkpad) which has whites that are sort of yellow.
In any case, for those of you just biding your time, go order now esp with the free Tribe's Ascend, 750GB HDD upgrade and 4x4GB RAM upgrade... I ordered mines about 2 weeks early and so I missed out on it
(technically I can return my laptop and just re-order, but too lazy, and Sager should offer that though)
-
I have certainly noticed I am in the minority when it comes to glare vs matte. In fact, I haven't really seen anyone else on the forums that owns the 95% gamut glare type monitor. There has to be someone else out there!! I just don't like the washed out appearance that certain matte screens have. However, it appears that almost no one is complaining about the matte screens that ship with these laptops so maybe they are much improved from what I am used to. My laptop rarely leaves my apartment so glare is almost a non-issue for me. When I do bring it to the library again I rarely notice the glare, but when I do it becomes fairly annoying.
-
i have the 95% glare; it is amazing the colors are so vibrant. although the glare is on par with other normal glare type screens. if you face 90 degrees from windows you should be fine and love these colors. Also be wary of this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/674980-why-high-gamut-screens-not-suited-gamers.html
-
Hello! I don't know if this is in the wrong section of the forum, but I've decided to ask some of the owners of the laptop that I'm about to get. Anyway, did this laptop come with the updated drives for the motherboard and graphics card, or did you have to manually update the drivers yourselves? Also to anybody who ordered Windows 7 with the NP9130, did it come pre-installed, or did it come with the disc, in which you have to manually install it? I'm sorry, but this is my first time actually working with a fresh & clean laptop, as to say I'm only 13 ahaha. So if anybody could answer my question, it is greatly appreciated. Thanks
-
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
Well you're in the right place then! If you buy it with Windows, it should have it installed with all the drivers not necessarily the most up to date, but installing drivers are fairly easy and the only drivers that might be out of date are the touchpad (i actually went back to the old one... The new one is weird), possibly WiFi, Intel RST (if you use a SSD) and graphics drivers and all you have to do is download them and run them like any other program.
There's nothing terribly difficult so if you have any questions, feel free to ask us
(we were once all new to this stuff too)
