The Fan definitely comes on there when not configured with the second GPU, I haven't heard official confirmation on the heatsink being present if somebody else can verify that from their build. Haven't seen it in person to say 100%.

Could someone give me the details on the stock OEM Clevo WiFi card? Is it dual band and does it have Bluetooth 3 or 4? I'm wondering if I should get the Intel 6235 instead.
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
That card will be a single band one utilizing Bluetooth 3.0 with transfer speeds of 150mb/s. The 6235 will get a lot better signal reception, faster transfer speeds, and is something we typically recommend for upgrading every time. -
Good to know-Thanks Derek.
RAID 5 ?
I see in the Clevo manual RAID 0 and 1 are supported, is there an option in the BIOS or array config utility to set up RAID 5?
I understand that inside the P370EM the two 2.5" drive ports are SATA 3, while the mSATA port is SATA 2, this shouldn't be a problem? (Other than the reduced speed.) This physical setup looks identical to the M17x R4 which seems to only support RAID 0 or 1, not 5.
Thanks guys, this machine looks promising. There doesn't seem to be that much interest in it though. The P373EM-3D with nVidia 3D Vision coupled with two 680m in SLI should be a monster. It's LCD doesn't have Lightboost, but I wonder if Lightboost's extra shot of mega backlight while in 3D mode is good for the pixels. -
We support RAID5 on our machines (exclusive feature) it works, but yea you have to have matching size mSATA + SSD to make it work, OR you use the ODD drive and turn it into a HDD then you can have 3 standard 2.5" drives and a mSATA Left over if you want. But it works
-
Good to hear, thanks.
Out of curiosity, I noticed the Intel N6300 can also be installed on this machine. What's your opinion on that? Worth it for the extra signal capacity? What improvements could I see in day to day usage?
I know that with the N6300 you also lose Bluetooth. -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
If you don't mind losing the bluetooth I do recommend going up to the 6300. 450 mb/s transfer speeds and has a third antennae option for increased signal reception. We've had very good results with it. -
Thanks again. Will think about it, though with the size of this thing and the fact that it's the main computer, it's pretty likely it'll always be close to the router. So maybe BT might be more useful for me.
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
That's a very good point and definitely something to consider. Personally if I were to be getting this laptop I'd have the same thought as what you had, but there are people that do carry this system around with them and need that extra reception for coffee shops, hotels, airports, etc... if that were my situation I'd definitely get the 6300 as I wouldn't be using bluetooth devices all that much. In your case though, I'd probably opt for some bluetooth so I can come home and have my wireless devices connected quickly. -
Depends on the company, but we offer built in bluetooth on this model (optional) its not 4.0 but its still bluetooth and you don't have to have a nubbie or anything like that.
-
I'm considering the NP9370 with Radeon 7970M graphics card as a desktop replacement for my aging HP. I see this laptop has HDMI and DisplayPort outputs. Can you use both the HDMI and DisplayPort outputs concurrently? I really need to extend my desktop across two 24" external monitors. If not, what options would you suggest? Thanks for all the great info on this forum!

Quick question about putting my cards in crossfire: Would all I have to do is pull the VBIOS from the stock card, and flash it to the second one?
I have a 7970M here that has the Dell VBIOS on it. -
Yaeh, the P370EM requires the newer 149Kb vBIOS with EFI part, so both cards need those. As for cross-flashing DELL/Clevo idk
-
I'm not 100% sure if I'm answering this correctly but I just did a VBIOS upgrade, for Nvidia 680m's though, in SLI. You must do them both. It's actually really simple, just upgrade them in Dos via USB and Win98 Dos drivers and like 3-4 commands and it's finished.
If you like I can give you the links to TechInferno, those guys have threads for your card and all the details. -
Hello all, purchasing one of these beasts on Monday but had a few questions first. Is this lappy better with the AMD 7970m CF or the 680m Sli? Also, what ould be the best reseller to purchase from? Was thinking xotic pc...

As far as I am aware the GPU on the right is the secondary one as the CPU assembly is not complete without the GPU on the left there.
-
Nope the right one is the master GPU. I've got single GPU system and I've got right GPU only. For the CPU setup you will have third fan in your system, that will help to cool down the CPU. There is one heatpipe going from CPU to the third fan.
-
The hardware in the 680's and 7970's is very similar, but the 680's will have slightly better performance, much more linear performance across all games (more steady fps numbers), and have much better driver support. If you can, I would recommend forking over the extra cash for the 680's.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Ah, I have not worked with the machine yet since I am not involved in building them. So is there is a massive gap around that single heatpipe on the third fan then? -
The 3D version I believe has an LGD02C5 LCD and the 3D emitter is built-in. All recent nVidia driver packages have all of the 3D Vision drivers inside the driver package (including the emitter co-processor driver).
Does anyone have the 3D version? Does nVidia 3D Version work correctly out-of-the-box? -
Will make photo of that and post it here.

That would be great, im interested how they do it exactly. -
Here they are(pictures). Hope they will be helpful.

So they do just leave a gap.... You might get better temps if you could duct the flow of air a bit, I am surprised they did not at least include a plastic spacer...
I guess since it's just extra cooling it's not a vital area. -
Hey guys,
Just ordered one of these beast on wednesday.
Spec:
Eurocom SCORPIUS 17,3" (1920x1080) 90% Gamut
Intel Core i7 3630QM, 16GB RAM 1600MHz, AMD 7970M 2GB GDDR5
750GB HDD 7200RPM, 256GB mSata SSD Crucial
8x Multi DVD RW, Intel WiFi + BT Combo
Im going to add 2nd HDD and run them in Raid 1.
Hopefully i ll run 7970M with no problems. But in case of something, i made arrengement with reseller, so i can trade in 7970M for 680M paying only for price difference between cards, within two weeks upon recieving notebook.
Now just surive that waiting
-
You should run 7970 just fine.Enduro is disabled in this laptop. Performance was significantly increased with 12.11 beta drivers release. So, just run your machine and have fun!
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I'm considering one of these for myself with the following spec:
3740QM, 8GB DDR3 1600mhz, GTX670MX SLI
2x256GB Cruical M4 SSD, Bluray
Something like that maybe. -
Nice config. Maybe 7970M instead of SLI? You always will have room for improving system performance with CF. And 670MXSLI is 200$ more than a single 7970.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I was thinking of overclocking the LCD.
-
From what i have seen here http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/660283-you-guys-know-you-can-overclock-lcd.html I think you can do that also with AMD GPU.
However, if you want to stay with nVidia, you can also consider paying extra 50 for single 680M to avoid multi-cards possible problems, with possibility to buy 2nd 680M when one runs out of breath. -
There is definitely an advantage with a higher refresh rate but isn't it easier and safer to just get the laptop with a 120Hz panel?
I cannot get nVidia 3D Vision to show up in the nVidia Control Panel even with the 120Hz LGD02C5 panel, internal emitter (& external USB 3D emitter) and 680m's.. I tried 5 different GeForce drivers with no luck.
nVidia 3D tester app (nvstwiz.exe) states "This laptop's panel is not qualified for 3D Vision."
Any ideas? -
Please dump your BIOS with:
https://rapidshare.com/files/2767281612/afuwin64.rar
Just use standard values and hit save.
Please tell me the "Hardware IDs" that your cards are showing in device manager under the 'details' tab
Also are both vBIOS versions shown in GPU-Z 80.04.33.00.10 ?
-
Thanks Prema! I have the BIOS, I sent you a PM with my info.

OK, that BIOS is for non 3D model. I modded it to fake 3D, but you should request a proper 3D BIOS...more in your mail...

Ah prema, awesome as always.
-
Thanks to Prema - 3D Vision now works on my 3D laptop.
I'll update this once I get the proper BIOS & EC for the P373EM-3D (P370EM3).
Awesome laptop, by the way. -
Forgot to mention - the LCD backlight dimmer works now too.

It's a powerhouse. I'm really enjoying mine. Just watched a Blu-Ray 3D "The Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D" in 3D - impressive.
Kingston HyperX Plug-N-Play 1886MHz Memory doesn't work in this laptop, at least without a modified BIOS. POST starts but immediately fails, and the notebook repeatedly power cycles. When removing the HyperX, the heatsinks on the RAM were extremely hot. These are the 1st batch from 2011 with the larger heatsinks.
$38 2x4GB Samsung M471B5273DH0-CK0 (1600MHz CL11 1.5V): winsat mem is 25485.37 MB/s. This is faster than the 1866MHz HyperX PnP in my 2011 Clevo P150HM with i7-2860QM. Samsung has zero errors during overnight test with memtest.
*Edit*
The HyperX that didn't work with the stock BIOS is Model # KHX1866C11S3P1K2/8G, apparently Kingston has another model as well, Model # KHX1866C11D3P1K2/8G. Not sure what the difference is. Amazon has a new listing for 2133MHz HyperX PnP too.
*Update*
The HyperX Model # KHX1866C11D3P1K2/8G I listed above is desktop memory. Thanks Prema.
With the newer BIOS, 2 x 4GB HyperX 1866MHz PnP CL11 works, but 4 x 4GB doesn't. With 2 x 4GB HyperX, winsat mem averages around 24500.00 MB/s, which is around 1GB slower than the Samsung. -
Don't think he is going to make it today. My apartment complex is gated, so if he doesn't make it here by closing it silk bee tomorrow.... sucks
