The
Clevo P377SM-A/Sager NP9377
is the best Laptop right now. I love this laptop. -

I am looking to buy that model here in my country, but my question is whether the DDR4 memories and 5th intel processors arrive until mid-year, it would have a more updated notebook or not worth the wait.
 -

Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Is there a particular reason you feel like you might benefit from those? There isn't anything officially announced so only speculation exists right now but 5th gen will likely mean a new model revision that supports them. If you didn't really have a need for them, just have to weigh how badly you're need a new machine at the moment and the cost of having to wait for that to be announced first and then wait for them to be released before you get your new machine. -

Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The CPUs will not have a large impact on gaming performance.
 -

I think I am now leaning towards picking up this model based on D2 Ultima's analysis regarding the MQ CPUs vs HQ CPUs.
Configuration I am thinking of going with would be as follows:
-Intel Core i7-4910MQ Processor, 2.9 GHz (Max Turbo Frequency 3.9 GHz), 8MB Smart Cache
-Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M w/8GB GDDR5
-16GB, Kingston Hyper X CL9 1600Mhz
-512GB Crucial MSATA M550 series SSD
-1 TB Samsung 850 Pro Series Solid State Drive (I will be putting in an existing 500 gb SSD in the 2nd Hard Drive Slot)
Thoughts on the above? I am currently about 2 TB of games and apps on my desktop, so while it may seem like a lot of storage on a laptop, I do think I will use a lot of it.
How is the standard Sager or Prostar Clevo FHD LED display? My guess is that I will use it for a while until I read up more about alternatives and how to install them
Also, how much bigger is this chasis than the Alienware m17x r4? While the Alienware is a bit cumbersome, it does fit on my laptop desk and cooler okay and if this unit it about the same or just tad bit bigger I think it could still work. -

Thanks for the link d2 Ultima . I have been googling every evening to find out as much information as I can about sli .
I ordered a sager np9377 wednesday.
4800mq
980m sli
256 gb boot msata ssd
two 1 terabyte hdds
16 gigs memmory.
It's in phase 1
Can't wait.
I will let you guys know when I get it and my impressions on it.
I'm sure I will have lots of questions before then. -

Congrats man!! You are gonna love it!! -

Well actually I do not think would have significant impact on performance, but I thought so I'll keep it about 3 years and when selling they probably already existed notebooks with DD4 and will be very outdated
 -

Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
True but at three years the laptop itself will be very outdated. I don't believe the fact it has DDR3 RAM compared to DDR4 will be any difference in the buying decision at that point. -

Its whatever they have lying around. I'd upgrade personally.
Also, how much bigger is this chasis than the Alienware m17x r4? While the Alienware is a bit cumbersome, it does fit on my laptop desk and cooler okay and if this unit it about the same or just tad bit bigger I think it could still work.
Its not. Unless they shrank the chassis for the 4 big time compared to the M17r1 I have. It dwarfs my 9377

Thanks. It's unfortunate that the only places that offer upgrades to the screen (rather than doing it yourself) also have higher prices than the rest of the market on other upgrades (such as hard drives, memory, etc.) even if the monitor upgrade price itself seems reasonable. -

My np9377 is now in phase 2 .
Seams to be moving right along. -

Hey d2 Ultima I read your article you wrote about sli and it did answer many questions I had about sli. thanks for pointing me in that direction. You say there is pros and cons to sli.
The way I look at it is if I can simply go into the control panel and switch from sli to single card even know it requires a reboot it's like having the best of both worlds. That is if you have the latest flagship gpus. some people say don't buy sli because of the problems. If there is a problem switch to single gpu and problem solved.
Maybe I don't understand a 100% so correct me if I'm wrong. Having a sli rig is the same as having two laptops. One with a single gpu and one with sli gpus.
You can just decide Wich one you want to use whenever you want. A reboot is the same thing as if you were switching between your two laptops you would still have to turn the other one on when you were ready to use it anywhay.
      -
You don't need to turn it off. You can force games to use single card via NCP if you wish; even if you keep SLI on.
ALSO you don't need to reboot if you use a modified desktop driver. http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...od-for-780m-880m-and-980m-mobile-gpus.767644/ here you go. -

That desktop driver broke HDMI for me.

Have had the laptop for a few weeks now. Absolutely love it! Yesterday I turned it on and upon windows 8.1 startup, I could hear an annoying device disconnect chime non stop for a few seconds. Unplugged everything, restarted, and it's still there. Checked the device manager and everything looks fine. All drivers are up to date of course. I have a strong feeling one of the USB ports is shorted, or maybe some other hardware issue. Any ideas?

I need help. I want to connect to headphones so me and my wife will watch movie together. It seems I can only use one headphone jack. Is there a workaround to use 2?

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_log_view.html download and run this and see what's cutting in/out. It could be as much as the fingerprint reader. Device manager would likely not show you. I've seen it happen on another laptop I've owned.
 -
It breaks it for me as well, the only driver that works perfectly with HDMI is 344.60.. the driver that my reseller has on its website, and Ive tried many different versions.

Gotta question. Does anyone of you have Witcher 2? If so, how many fps do you get with max settings and ubersampling on?
 -

Hey guys i have a question.
Do you know if i can order the 120hz screen for my laptop from somewhere?
Or what is the type-name for that screen?
Thanks

Looks quite playable to me. This is the prologue which I find to be harsher on the cards.
This games a burner though. Never seen my 980Ms go to 88C but then again, ubersampling is insanely stressful on the core.
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg

Do you get framedrops? On the beginning, my fps goes to 47-then on so areas 75 then it dips to 27 then 37. Its not constant 60fps at all
 -

Definitely get frame drops but not often. I was running the fraps benchmark so I couldn't see the current fps
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk -

Keep in mind ubersampling was not meant to really be used. I've heard it's not stable on quad SLI desktop machines either. It was meant as a tech demo more than anything.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk -

Yeah but my SLI 980GTX gets a stable vsync 60fps. On my 980M GTX Sager, it's not a constant 60fps. In fact, it rarely goes 60. If you are getting an average of 60fps and I am not, there may be something wrong with my setup like high performance battery or something.
 -

I don't think the 980M has the memory bandwidth to support ubersampling.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk -

Noob question. When you say frap benchmark, it means your playing the game using the fraps counter, right?

FRAPS has a benchmark. Generally you press F11.
Up above you can see I'm mostly over 60 FPS or close to it. -
SLI 980M definitely does. At 200% resolution (4K) of 1080p BF4 set to "ultra" preset with 110 horizontal FOV, it barely crosses 55% of the memory controller load of my 780Ms. Single GPU, you'd need a memory OC at that point on 780Ms, but since 980Ms (and maxwell in general) have memory bandwidth optimizations (shown in the CUDA benchmarks where 256-bit 5000MHz 980M was faster than 256-bit 5000MHz 780M across the board), it should be fine for quite a few games even with single GPU.
SLI would destroy them all. People oversell memory bandwidth and its impact on gaming a lot, to be honest. -

Then ubersampling is glitched on that game.

You see, that's the problem. I am not making mostly over 60fps and we both have the same cards.
Do I have a defect on my system? -

Check to make sure you are on high performance, try various drivers. SLI has always been a mess. Obviously make sure SLI us turned on in the control panel. Outside of that I have no idea.

If you're talking about The Witcher 2, you're honestly better off trying to force downsampling from about 2560 x 1440 and leaving the in-game AA/effects all on. Ubersampling is 10000% broken in it.
The screen is the LP173WF2-TPB1, and you can look around on ebay or see if any suppliers know about it from Panelook.com's supplier list.kolias likes this. -

Pardon the noob question but how does one downsample like that?

Is this what GeDoSaTo is supposed to be used for (if you know), and if so, is that the best option, or is there some other way to go about doing this?Last edited: Feb 2, 2015

There's a way to trick your display into doing it if you're on nVidia cards, which is why I mentioned it (DSR is just an "easy" way of doing it). I'm not sure of the process offhand, but it shouldn't be hard to research. It involves adding custom resolutions to your monitor, or something. A quick google search got me this guide http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=509076
Also, as crawler9 suggested, GeDoSaTo is a fairly easy to use tool (though it does not always work) to do so on DX9 games (unsure if DX11 support is in yet) -

I tested Witcher 2 again Ubersampling with Ultra settings and I get half of the time 60 to 80 then if the game has more enemies, it goes to 45 to 30.
Is this what you get too, Ethrem? I am testing Prologue at the moment. The first scene when I go down from Trish's camp, it's like 47 to 44 then it goes to 60 then 70 then 50 then 60 then 8o the more I progress.
