What happens if you turn down the backlight a bit? Or if you tip the screen back a little bit?
That actually looks pretty bad to me... It looks yellowish in the corners in the pic...
However, if you go with a lighter desktop it will be less noticeable I think.
I only notice backlight bleed in my current laptop if the room is completely dark and the screen is displaying black. To be fair I have a pretty light "default" windows desktop.
Does anyone know, is this problem generally more noticeable on a matte display than a glossy one?

It's still there with brightness turned down, just not as obvious but definitely there. It is for sure yellowish. On non-black/dark backgrounds or browsing the net, you'd never be able to tell it's there. I've been trying to tell myself it's not that bad by reasoning it blends in with whatever I'm looking at. I tried putting a piece of folded paper in that corner yesterday and it took away about half of it, it ended up coming out when I tried to put more paper in this morning =/ If I put pressure behind the lid on that corner it goes away completely.
I like the laptop, I really do. Runs smooth and cool, I ordered some kryonaut but I'm in no hurry to replace the paste with the temps I'm seeing so far. I just don't know if I can trick my mind enough to ignore it most days.
If anyone knows any other DIY to get rid of it I'm all ears. I'm hoping down the road by replacing the monitor with whatever is available aftermarket will help, I know it's a long shot but idk.

"Not right at all" goes on to point out I was exactly right except for the GPU 4x allocation. I'm sure they're being used *somewhere*. And that somewhere is not NVMe.
The documentation itself is explicit: Each lane can have one assignment, and one only. These are direct end to end connections. There is no way to both have as many storage options as clevo is offering AND two x4 m.2 storage devices. Because the chipset simple does not support that number of lanes.Last edited: Sep 22, 2016 -

I'm wondering if this is par for the course with the current generation of displays. I really like my current laptop display (glossy/qHD) and it looks like I'll be missing it if I go with the Clevo =\
I do have some time to back out of the deal - the config I ordered form LPCDigital is back ordered a few weeks and I'm weighing options. Aside from concerns over the display I feel pretty confident in this laptop.
I wonder if the matte finish diffuses backlight bleed in an annoying way. I can sort of imagine that, but looking around I haven't seen anyone confirm it.
BTW, try playing an immersive game and see if you stop noticing it. That's a pretty good test.
Take this page with a grain of salt. I see mentions of "paper fix" and "credit card fix". Seems like a potential way to cause more harm than good...
https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/286750/Need+IPS+Monitor+backlight+bleed+fix
I just wonder if it's possible (with extreme care...) to re-seat the display in the frame in such a way as to relieve pressure on the display panel in just the right way. Thing is - this seems like an easy way to make things a whole lot worse...
Anyone here have experience adjusting backlight bleed? -
Hey guys, how do I reset the bios by akin to pulling the battery off. I can't find a battery or jumper
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk -
Glossy displays have more vivid color and contrast. Colors appear more intense and saturated, while blacks appear deeper. Reflections can make a glossy display basically unusable in direct sunlight.
Matte screens have an anti-glare coating applied to them, so they’re much better at preventing reflections. It’s easier to see a matte screen in a bright room, whether you’re dealing with sunlight or just intense light from overhead fluorescent light bulbs in an office. The downside is that this coating makes colors appear a bit more dull.
Glossy displays tend to look better in stores where there are no bright lights to cause glare, but you may want a matte display if you plan on using the display in a bright room. Matte displays may counteract glare much better, but that doesn’t really matter if you’re never going to use it in a bright area.
But bleeding is bleeding is bleeding.
I personally prefer glossy, but I'm getting a really good deal, so it's not a deal breaker. But if I see that this bleeding is an issue for several more here in the forum, I'll cancel my order as well and go with my second choice. -

Any idea how to easily remove the keyboard? Super nervous
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk -
Haven't done it myself, but I think that you can remove the 2 screws with a keyboard logo towards the middle of the back panel and use a thin tool to push it out through the smaller hole towards the upper left side above the 2 screws. Like I said, I haven't done it, but that seems to be the way to go.
By the way, weren't you supposed to receive updated BIOS via email today, or was that someone else? -
Thanks. And no that was goo

So I did everything but when I'm trying to pop the keyboard out by pushing through the little hole that's meant to pop it out I can see the keyboard just bulging but it's not popping out and making me nervous. Anyone have any ideas? I removed the screws labeled keyboard

I'd quit messing with it then and look for a video. I think HTWingnut may have made a YouTube video with the np8658 (980m) that had the same chassis.
-
Yea watched a video on it. Finally got it off. Thought I was about to break it when it popped loose.
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk -
I myself used a chopstick to push through that little hole. As long as you take out all the screws on the back panel, even the ones in the middle, you're good. I too was a bit nervous having to do that but you'll hear it pop when you do. The top right of the keyboard should pop up first, then just run your fingers along the top row and pull. Be careful though, the keyboard has a couple short connections on the bottom. This youtube video explains it perfectly.

For starters, the 3G/LTE slot are fed by the USB bus and the SATA controller is built into the PCH and does not utilise PCIE lanes from it's pool of 16. So out of 16 lanes, 8 of them were listed incorrectly, making it "exactly" 50% right I suppose.
Curiously, the schematic has some references to a possible CM236 variant which would also offer 20 lanes at PCH AND 4 lanes to each M.2 storage slot.
There's also references to a TBT controller feeding the Type-C ports. Which I can confirm with my own P650RP apparently having an Alpine Ridge controller in it (and also explains why the Clevo Driver CD ships with Thunderbolt drivers..):

I don't have any Thunderbolt3 devices yet (only the Nexus5X which uses type-c which hangs off the Alpine Ridge chipset). EGPU may still be a thing with these. -
Highly recommend you read the documentation for the part, bucko.

I would really like it if there were an option for a glossy QHD (2560 x 1440) display with the P650RS.
That would be a nice tradeoff between resolution, GPU performance and battery life.William Willis likes this. -
Each PCIE Lane provided by the pch can be either PCIE or SATA, with up to, in the case of what's equipped in Clevo here, 6. This uses 4. Additionally, 4 lanes are taken by the first m.2, and 4 more are locked for the M.2 x4 nvme ssd slot. You can't have the pch be both PCIE and sata, according to the documentation.
This isn't a universal truth for all pch, just this one.

Yeah, you can't directly order from them. I had to talk to some friends and they helped me. I just like the clean look with no logo on the back.

Does anyone know if the P671 will ever get a 4K/3K display? Or if it is possible to add the 4K/3K display to this model ?

Guys i need help .. i udgraded to win 10 and now when i try to install drivers nvidia it says that the model is not compatible
i used the drivers found in the cd .. i have p670rs g
Moreover the Touchpad is not precise at all. I' typing form my 500 euro asus ad the minimal movement on the touch corresponds to a movement of the pointer on the screen
on this clevo p670rs g I have to move my finger on the touch of about 1 cm before the pointer starts moving ... it's unusableLast edited: Sep 23, 2016 -
^ Try getting the lastest drivers on Nvidia's website, not the ones on the CD.
Wow really ? That's pretty nice. Well it doesn't matter much, you wont get much more performances from an egpu on these considering they already pack a 1060/1070 and the 1080 is quite heavily bottlenecked by the Razer Core (pretty sad, if current gen gpu already bottleneck it, things don't look too good for TB3 as an egpu solution in the future). Still if it turns out the P65XRX has TB3 it's a pretty nice bonus. Any way to test that without a TB3 device ? -
You probably just need to get Windows to update to the latest version, which supports the 10 series GPUs. You can do it by clicking the "Update Now" button here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 You'll download an updater and run it. After it's all done, Windows should detect your GPU.William Willis likes this.

Must say I'm blown away by the performance and thermals of this thing. I've got my 1070 running at +165 core and +700 memory oc. I've also got it undervolted around 170mv on the cpu. I really haven't tried more. Also the ram over clocks pretty well I was getting around 2800mhz. In rainbow six siege maxed out with ultra texture pack GPU usage hovers around 70% and only has to clock up to about 1300mhz. Temps are only like 65c. Tw3 taxes the GPU with hair works on, temps in the high 60s or low 70s after extended play ultra everything. Still boosts around 2ghz. Fans are a bit loud but that's expected from the bugged ec.

My touchpad works fine. Sound like you just need to go to the touchpad settings in Windows and adjust it. It could also be an issue with running Windows 7

Nice, what are you using for undervolting ?
-
I'm using xtu. I've also raised the tdp power limits for boosting by a few watts. Not sure if it will help or not. But so far I've had trouble getting the CPU anywhere into the 70s even pre undervolt.

Hi everyone, I just put an order in for a NP8152-S (P650RP6) and I'm very excited. It'll be a nice addition to my desktop, so I can game on the go.
I've been looking through this thread a bit, and I'm a little confused about possible problems people are encountering, like something about using an external display? And a problem with the fans? There are a whole lot of posts in this thread, I would certainly appreciate if someone could bring me up to speed. HahaWilliam Willis and derpsauce like this. -
Greetings every one.
I m 100% new to Clevo, I have bought Sager NP 8153 from Xotic PC with 6700HQ, 1070 and 4K.
now can any one tell me what brand the DDR4 2400 in my laptop will be because neither Xotic nor Sager mentioned the brand of RAM.
Is their thermal past is good or bad, I didn't go with IC Diamond because it has bad reputation of leaving scratch and burn marks? Is replacing the past with something like Arctic silver 5 will void my warranty or not?
Thanks for healp. -
What memory you got and what brand.
-
You can find the memory yourself using AIDA64. It'll have it.
As for paste IC Diamond is better than stock by a lot. Repasting with anything won't void your warranty unless you use like liquid metal and screw up, so you can use whatever you want. -
Fan problem is fixed through a bios update, if you just ordered it that should be fixed. The hardware is fine, the control software was wonky and making the fans way too loud.
The external display problem is a more real issue. It seems to rocket one core up to 99% usage just being connected to a monitor. Someone affected would be able to tell you more as I don't have mine yet and don't really plan on using a monitor so I haven't been watching too closely. People seem to think it may possibly be a driver issue. -
Thanks for the advice but my laptop will arrive in at least 12 to 15 days, so I just wanted to ask
-
I didn't mean you should regret not choosing IC Diamond, if you know how to repaste its probably not even worth it.
-
Stock ram from sager is goldkey which is hynix memory
Sent from my ZTE A2017U -
It looks like rubbish brand and they don't have DDR4, I saw some pics for the P650 RS/RP6 with Kingston HyperX but with OEM labels
-
Xotic lists the RAM as being DDR4. I'm not sure about others, but I think it's the same everywhere. I don't know why the resellers are not offering the option to switch to a different manufacturer for RAM though for those who want to.
-
HID lets you switch to G.SKILL if you want to
-
If it's really a Kingston HyperX 2400 CL14 then it's the best ram you can ever choose
-
I've had similar lag using chrome and just the laptop screen.
-
Sorry guys I did not update you yesterday but I got an updated email from Allen and he said this:
"I am waiting for the EC file. Once I have the EC file, I will send the BIOS + EC files to you."
I am hoping it is only a one day delay but don't worry I will post it here the moment he sends it to me.steberg, capthook12 and south_valhalla like this. -
