Yes, so long as it's an A-keyed M.2 card.
Yes, but Sager might not let a vendor sell it with no storage at all. You can have either a single PCIe M.2 SSD, or one or two SATA M.2 SSDs, or one PCIe or SATA M.2 SSD plus one M.2 3G/LTE card. Plus you can have either a single 9.5mm thick 2.5" HDD or SSD, or one or two 7mm thick 2.5" HDD or SSD.
-
Yup, you can!
Excellent choice! By doing that you will save aprrox 150 to 200 USD. These retailers (and Clevo) quote slightly higher price for all the components. Better to buy it yourself and upgrade. Just make sure you get the right form factors and size of M.2 cards. -
Oh wait, isn't this the default option of the laptop ? I thought every P65x comes with a fingerprint scanner, am I wrong ?
-
It's optional and resellers can choose to include or exclude it. Sadly (from my perspective) Scan 3XS decided not to include one in their P651 model, because apparently demand was very low. However, I was willing to live without one when I bought the Gigabyte P35X v3, so I can again sacrifice having one for the greater good
-
Are you 100% sure on this (need to make sure). The only reason I question it is because some of the options under the P651 on the Clevo website state 'factory option'. è天Clevo
The wireless options all state 'factory option'. Is this normal for all Clevo laptops to state this and they have all upgradeable wireless cards?. Is there perhaps a picture anywhere available of the inside of one of these laptops to confirm these wireless cards are replaceable?.
On the MySN website XMG P705 17.3" Pro Gaming Notebook - XMGro Notebooks
, I can configure a P705 with no SSDs or HDDs for purchase. I should then be able to buy an M.2 x4 SSD and one or two mSATA-III SSDs and install them myself, is that correct?.
TIA. -
yes, mysn is one of the places that lets u configure laptops without any storage whatsoever. then again, theyre a system builder with their own brand and thus independent of sager and their specs.
as for the P67X I guess we`ll find out soon enough, best to trust a user review
-
Not sure why they say factory option, but plenty of pics of the inside of the P650SE have been posted, and it's clear that user upgrades should be trivially easy.
You are correct about the M.2 PCIe x4 SSD, but do NOT buy mSATA SSDs for this machine. You can use one or two 2.5" SATA SSDs, but there are no mSATA slots in this system.
Ignore the specs, but use this pic to differentiate the drive form factors:
![[IMG]](images/storyImages/6177_02_crucial_m550_128gb_ssd_review.png)
The drive on the left is fine, and you can use 2 of those if they are 7mm thick. The drive on the right is fine, and you can use either 1 PCIe x4 drive or 1 or 2 SATA drives.
The drive in the middle is mSATA, and cannot be used in this system. -
Thanks for your help.
Upon looking into it further...on the Clevo website (P65X) it does state 'factory' under the options for wireless as as I mentioned previously, but then it states:
• Three M.2 card slots
-1st for WLAN Combo M.2 2230 Card with PCIe and USB interface
-2nd for SSD M.2 2280 Card with SATA / PCIe Gen2 x2/x4 interface
-3rd for SSD M.2 2280 Card with SATA interface
Which must mean that the 'factory' wireless card must use one of the M.2 slots, which should mean they are replaceable?. I'm sure that's probably why the link you passed on earlier states that there are only two M.2 slots for storage (as Dabeer mentioned) as the 3rd is kept for the WLAN module.
Surely the 15" and 17" versions would be pretty much identical (internally) apart from the screen size. -
Thanks that was a very helpful post.
-
yes, wifi/BT, as well as M.2 and 2.5" storage is easily replaceable by the user. it could very well be that Clevo internally specced those M.2 slots not to be user-upgradeable, same with the RAM slots under the keyboard on previous-gen models (they would define those as factory option or "not upgradeable by the user" whereas the slots beneath the back cover would be), but that doesnt mean that is "impossible" to actually do so
so no worries, u can totally upgrade anything and everything urself aside from the cpu and gpu

What 'factory option' really means is that the builder (Clevo/Sager) is providing you with options to choose from for selected components. As long as the form factors and card dimensions match, you do not have to worry about upgrading to other wireless cards in future.
Correct, but check if you can order with no HDD at all. Coz platter HD is what the base model comes with here in USA. Later you can add your one M.2 x4 SSD (PCIe), or two M.2 SATA SSDs. (Note: There is no mSATA on this model. Do not confuse mSATA with M.2 SATA. They are of different form factors)Flam3h likes this. -
Hey, new here to this forum. Can anyone comment on the screen? TN just brings back horrible memories. I was really leaning towards the MSI but then came across these Sagers and liked the price, upgradeability and overall value. But the screen has me worried enough that I will pay more for the similar spec MSI. Can anyone ease my concerns on the display?
Thanks -

We just got our first into our facility and the screen looked perfectly fine by me. Not anything spectacular, but plenty good and not something I'd be upset with getting if purchasing myself. -
Hi Derek, is it possible to get the model number of the screen?
-
It should be the AUO B156HTN03.6, given that it's Sager, and that's what HTWingNut's had.
Of course, if it's something different, that will be quite interesting... -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Yes it is the AUO B156HTN03.6. As Derek mentioned I did not see anything bad with it either. It's still a TN panel though, but thats been pretty standard for years, I would like to see a IPS option available but no word on that happening. I would get the 4K once that becomes available. -
Just got word from multiple sellers that the beginning of December for US P651SG. Guess I'll miss getting one on my birthday on the 29th.
-
Hi
I can't see this model on the scan site.. Would you mind posting a link please.. It looks good.
One surprise to me is that no on mentions optical drives.. Are they considered obsolete nowadays?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk -
There is no optical drive on this machine. Apparently a lot of the super-slim laptops are going without optical drives these days... the Gigabyte P35 seems to be a rare exception.Major_Hazzard likes this.

Optical bays have been a waste of space for the past 5 years. Simply put ...
- Digital distribution allows software to be far more up-to-date and error-free (optical has a high error rate, 10^9, 10^4 more than platter)
- Most of the old copy protection schemes using optical had major incompatibilities (especially with NT6+/Vista+, and some drives altogether)
- Optical is easily fed by a slow USB 2.0 port, which means they can be external with no loss in capability (in fact, an increase in flexibility)
I've long replaced optical drives with an added 2.5" bay, which is way bigger than it needs to be. Hence why it doesn't surprise extremely few ship them any more. -
Unexpectedly, my screen arrived today, well ahead of the expected Nov. 19 - Dec. 4 delivery, and more significantly, 2 days prior to the arrival of the laptop.
I'm happy to confirm that it is indeed labeled as a Samsung LTN156HL01-102, and it was packaged extremely well. Obviously I won't know until the laptop gets here if there are any dead pixels...
Getting excited, now... I may have to take off work to make sure I'm here to sign for it!tfast500, jaybee83, flamy and 1 other person like this. -
Awwwwww so lucky can't wait to hear how the screen replacement goes and how it looks
-
Do make a detailed guide on replacement. Not all Clevos are madd the same...
-
where did you get that exact panel from? do you know if they would have a matte version?
-
What resellers (if any) currently offer an IPS screen on this model? And will the WQHD screen be available at a later date? I'm not even seeing it as a preorder option on XoticPC, LPC-Digital, or Mythlogic. My goal was to get WQHD IPS or FHD IPS but I don't see either anywhere and am reluctant to buy it if it's unavailable.
-
Here's what I know for the UK:
1080p = mySN
3K = pcspecialist
4K = mySN, pcspecialist and Scan -
Any chance you'd know any in the US Cakefish? Is there a way to find out other than just emailing all the resellers about it?
-
Eurocom have IPS: Eurocom Configure Model
Here is the link to Mythlogic's version also: https://www.mythlogic.com/2013_Models/dia1614.phpericc191 likes this. -
I bought from eBay, and it is the matte version.
Edit: apparently that's nbkit.com's ebay account. -
I had a couple emails back and forth with that seller and ended up buying that same screen. Hopefully it will be here before I head out on vacation on Thanksgiving. But even if I don't keep the P650SE, it will be a good upgrade for anyone buying the laptop from me.

On a side note, although it looks like I wrote "nbkit.com'sy" when I edit it, there's no "y" there.
Edit: ok, the editor/renderer are just messed up. I tried to fix the previous one, then this one got messed up. weird. It looks fine as soon as I finish editing and click save, but then when I reload the page it changes. -
So Eurocom ships out of NY? That's awesome. I may end up going with them if I can get one ordered without the logo. Does anyone know which 1080P IPS screen they are using? Also, they don't seem to offer any type of pixel protection, unless I missed it.
Edit: They use the B156HAN01.2 panel.tfast500 likes this. -
Is the WiFi card from eurocom the 7260 or different?
Looks to be a standard n card
-
From Eurocom one of the sales reps said that it would cost an extra 125 dollars to removes the branding since they have to ship it in specially lol, which is how much the panel costs itself so I just went with xotic!
-
LOL, yikes. Is it wrong that I will pass it up solely because of its annoyingly large and gaudy logo?
-
Yea lol I can't stand logos I opted for no branding I like the philosophy of itericc191 likes this.

Hey do you think you could take a picture of this screen so that I can see how matte the matte is haha? I've noticed that sometimes matte displays still reflect with crisp edges at certain angles, and some matte displays are fully matte with no distinguishable features. Could you take a picture of it with a light reflected off to see if it's a clearish reflection or a fully dispersed/blurred glow?
-
Right. I respect Sager for that. They don't push their name brand needing their logo blaring on the lid of the laptop.
-
Oh noes. Scan just sent me an ETA of 12th December for my preordered SG. This is gonna be one long wait! D:

Hey congrats on finally pulling the trigger, it may seem so far away but it will be well worth it
Personally I'm waiting for a review on how well temps are handled with the GTX 980M but it seems like it should have no problem considering how cool the GTX 970M runs in this laptop...will be eagerly waiting on your opinion and some tests. Nothing hardcore but mostly interested in temps and fan noise with the beefier GPU. I know what it can do I just want to know how it handles it
-
You took a 4K screen....? *facepalm*
-
ey! 4K FTW!
-
Is the 4k really that much better?
It's an extra £200 on Scan to get the LN60598
4Sharp 4K 3840 x 2160 IPS screen
Compared to the
FullHD 1920 x 1080 screen -
i just loooove having that extra sharpness and work space for every day stuff
plus the interpolation to 1080p should be quite nice considering its exactly 4 times the resolution of FHD. just saying, why not go all out when getting a new system? supposed to last several years anyways, so might as well do it right when getting it
-
Scan rep from their forums has sent off an enquiry to the Clevo HQ to confirm 60Hz or not. If it's not 60Hz I will cancel and go with pcspecialist with their 3K display.
Fingers crossed!
Sent from my Nexus 5 -
that would be quite scandalous if 4K internal at 60Hz just werent possible with current Intel iGPUs
heres to staying optimistic! -
Jusat wondered why you would opt for the 3k from pcspecialist and not the 4k option?
ALso.. is there much benefit in your opinion having the extra Graphics RAM in the Gigabyte laptop you are returning compared the the RAM in the Clevo?
I was initially attracted to the Gigabyte due to the extra RAM and built in Optical drive.. but I think the Clevo is a better build - if that makes sense. -
Because samsung created a horrible 4k 48Hz fake screen and sharp a beautiful sharp 4K 60hz one
