Uggh, now a new problem emerged, a quite major one frankly. The laptop suddenly turns off while in-game specifically Minecraft with Shaders on and WarThunder. Any help for this? Like it turns off without warning or some sort.

-
And I thought my problem of the screen turning off every 5 minutes was bad. Are you on the latest BIOS? Clevo drivers and not NVIDIA?
-
Funny you mention that, that is hard to do when BF1 requires 375.something but the Clevo drivers are 369
Guess I'll take a performance hit. -
I guess still OEM drivers. Since haven't touched anything BIOS wise and Drivers wise. Nvidia driver is 373.06 and BIOS is Sager I think since that's what the boot-up logo is. I have zero experience on updating BIOSes via flash drives so haven't thought about it yet :/
-
You may want to try changing the NVIDIA drivers, then. I don't think the new BIOS fixed much other than fans randomly spiking up and high CPU load when using an external display. The Clevo drivers are, unsurprisingly, the most stable and generally yield better performance. What's interesting, though, is the latest Clevo is 369.56 and yours is higher than that, so I think yours may have auto-updated somehow or they were updated by your reseller.
-
Can someone please tell me much battery time do you get with the integrated gpu on your systems? And how much do you get with the dedicated gpu? I'm really curious about this.
Thank you! -
Looks like the manual has it as only one 9.5mm, but clevo's website has it different:
"• Two changeable 2.5” HDD/SSD, SATA interface (RAID 0/1)
- 1st 7mm(H)
- 2nd 7mm(H) / 9.5mm(H)"
Also you can see that some resellers, like HID and lpc-digital, offer the option of one 9.5mm and one 7mm. Some resellers, like xotic, do not offer that option. I don't know why that is.
Fwiw I have the P670RS with the HGST 1TB 7200 RPM on the bottom and a 250GB 850 EVO on the top. -
That might work, but as of right now, only Minecraft certainly triggers the sudden shutdown. Also, I asked GenTech to update the drivers and BIOS to the latest ones.I'll definitely try updating the Nvidia drivers.

The first Bay must be 7mm, the second can be 9.5mm but not at the same time. -
Then how are resellers and myself fitting these?
Maybe it's not officially supported but in practice it works anyway? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I would not be surprised. There are vent holes and cooling/vibration to also consider.
-
I do feel some vibration when I put my hand to the right of the touchpad. Should that be a concern?
-
If a spinning hard drive is under it, it's not uncommon to feel a little bit as the platters in the drive are spinning.

Got my Eluktronics P670RS-G 17.3" yesterday. Awesome laptop. Amazing to have something come with a full printed manual in this day & age. Yeah I'm old (62) and still like to hold paper in my hands when reading.

Is it because they removing the casing off of the hard drives? That used to be a fix with older notebooks

That's fine but two HDDs Vibrating each other is the issue. -
Thinking of buying the P670RS-G from Pcspecialist.
Will get it with the 1070 and the i7-6820HK. Will this laptop run everything on ultra? And will it ensure ultra settings for a few years?
How are people finding it with games like Bf1 and The Witcher Wild Hunt? -
You might not get the best performance possible on BF1. The Clevo drivers perform better than direct NVIDIA ones, but clevo's latest is 369.56 whereas BF1 requires 375.36 or something like that.

The sudden shutdown still persist. I noticed that every time this happens, the powerbrick's indicator turns off too. Might be a broken powerbrick? plus the Stuck pixel never went away :/ Also, If i'm going to RMA this laptop, who should I contact? @Meaker@Sager or @GenTechPC
-
Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I'm not really surprised as Clevo is still known for their less than perfect QC, and problems like this that shouldn't happen do occur more frequently than I'd like to hear. I would get in touch with the people you bought it from first, so Gentech.
-
Yup, was really exited when it came but I guess I have to wait another two weeks again -.-
-
Does anyone have any screenshots of their P670RS-G in game with fps?
Or does anyone have it with an 6820HK and can vouch for what its like for demanding games? -
That's why I'm actually sorta happy that I "only" have a huge blot of light bleed in the corner and no others (except my screen turning off but that's software controlled so nothing to worry about). I waited 3 weeks for this thing (backorder), and just the thought of going another few weeks without it is terrifying.
-
Very. Just waiting for this laptop is quite a challenge for me lol. Another 2 weeks is definitely terrifying.
-
-
Of *course* it got in the good ports. USB C and DP. They look okay, hopefully they should dry out. Looking like new again after a good clean.
-
-
@Meaker@Sager
Does the 8173RS-G with 6820HK shut down automatically when the power for the power-brick disappears? Since I think that's the cause of the sudden shutdown problem on my laptop. The internal battery remains untouched when the shutdowns occurs. -
I've been building & servicing computers for 25 yrs, and do electro-mechanical repair & tech support for a living, so here is what I would try: While the computer is running OK on the power brick, pull the plug and see if you can recreate the symptom. Every laptop I've ever owned would auto switch over to the battery when the A/C power cut off. Unless there is some setting that would keep your model from doing that, I would think it should just start using the battery.
Now I am assuming that the power brick is actually charging the battery.
Sam -
That's weird. It doesn't turn off when I unplug the cable from the laptop. I tried this about 10 times while playing BF1 but all I get is noticeable frame drops but it fixes itself once I plug the charger again. But when a very intense scene came up, the laptop suddenly turned off while the cable is plugged, then I looked at the power-brick, and indicator light on the power brick is not on. It was like right after I plugged the charger in, the laptop turned off. On normal use, it doesn't do this, or while playing not as graphic intensive games. The laptop is also running stock, no OC or something.
-
Does the 670rs-g come with g sync?
-
-
This is what happens when you trip the power limit on the brick. Check your power draw.
-
Any programs to check it? And shouldn't be a 240w enough? Since if that's the reason then that's a huge design flaw.
-
-
It's possible you may have a defective brick. The most reliable way to check is to get a power meter, then multiply the wall draw by around 85%. Are you running at stock? What are you loading the machine with when this happens?
-
Yes, running all stock. The shutdowns only happens during intensive scenes for pretty much any games (Battlefield 1, Minecraft with Shaders, Warthunder, and World of Tanks). I can't even get past the first part of battlefield 1 without my laptop turning off.
-
Definitely ask them to send you a new power adapter first to see if that's the problem. If that doesn't fix it, RMA the whole thing.
-
I might just RMA it since there's a dead/stuck pixel on my screen too. :/ They could probably test it out on their own if I received a faulty power adapter or it's a different issue, but thanks for the help!
Also, if I have a dead pixel warranty, and there's a stuck/dead pxiel on my screen, is the re-seller responsible for the shipping?Last edited: Nov 26, 2016 -
What about this one: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/defianceIII-17/
It doesnt say anything about g-sync yet its a 670rs-g
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
A defective brick could short the input and cause a power off. Contact your reseller for support
Check the warranty terms but usually the shipping would be covered yes. -

Could someone please tell me the cheapest and best option to go for for a first and second hard drive
At the moment Im thinking: 1TB WD Black 2.5" WD10jPLX SATA 6Gb/s, 32MB Cache and (7200rpm)
and a 120GB Kingston UV400 2.5" Sata 6Gb (550MB/R, 350MB/W) -

Minimum I would recommend Samsung 850 Evo 250 GB SSD. 120 GB would fill up fast.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
But isnt the 1TB hard drive for all files? The other just a back up one just in case?
Also the pc specialist one doesn't say it comes with g-sync but does the laptop have it? -
baytotheapple Notebook Consultant
SSD is for windows 10, games and applications since it writes, reads and transfers faster. The 1TB drive is for files such as work, videos, music, pictures. SSD size depends what you can/want to install. Windows 10 is roughly 20GB, misc applications another 10-20GB, a game like witcher 3 is 40GB (pretty extreme example) so you are already at 80 out of 120 GB.
I have 250 GB and with tons of applications (photoshop, premiere, etc) and games I'm sitting at 200 GB.
It probably doesn't have gsync if they say it. Gsync has to be on the card and the screen.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
Thanks! Ah even if the P670rs-g comes with g-sync generally? Ive checked every other seller and it comes with it but not at al mentioned on pc specialiast. Is this something they just didn't add?
Edit: So if I get a 1TB HDD and that Samsung Evo SSD as my second that would work well?
And are SSHD drives unreliable? -
baytotheapple Notebook Consultant
Maybe they use a different panel? They would boast if it was included. Gsync is in the p670 manual IIRC
