if u go for the P770DM and not the P870DM u dont really need two 330W psus with y adapter (if that is what u meant by "converter"), even maxed out on all components u wont be able to saturate one 330W psu. us ZM owners werent able to do so, although some of us managed to break 300W, but never close to 330. seeing as skylake is more energy-efficient than haswell, theres probably a lil bit more headroom even, especially coupled with ddr4 ram![]()
as for the P870DM, two 330W psus will be an absolute must! even at stock clocks itll be a very tight fit with a single 330W psu and might now be enough in specific scenarios...

Good question about g-sync, I thought I remember hearing that the displays are automatically g-sync because of 970m or 980m equipped but I suppose the best thing would be to ask them directly. I didn't think about it because it's not one of the features I care about but certainly is nice to have.

I really wish we could somehow get a 500W single brick that supports the same connector as the current 330W bricks.
-
and that at the same size as well
it would probably be already enough to have a 360-370W adapter to get by in all situations with a p870dm. they already did that jumping from 300 to 330w psus, so why not just make it happen one more time? cmon delta, do it!

In clevo's website you can see two differents version one for the p750dm and an other for the p750dm-g.

@jaybee83 - thanks for the tip on the 330w psu. Dropping The converter and spare adaptor shave a few hundred off the cost which help make it a bit more wife nod of approval friendly. Also saves me plugging in so many power chords by the sofa.

Its probably a heat issue... Have you ever felt your power supply after a heavy gaming session? They get pretty warm.jaybee83 likes this.

Ahhhhhhhhhh.
I spent some time searching panelook.com, Samsung's own pages, and more generally Googling for references to newer Samsung panels that would match the supposed 4K PLS matte, and the only thing that kept coming up was a RGBW LTN156FL02 which doesn't seem to have been spec'd at the 75hz hinted at in the "mobile G Sync" press releases -- but if they're just current 60hz panels overclocked, that's almost certainly the one.
...and is likely to swing me to the 1080p option, I think, unless the 1080p option is also particularly dodgy with respect to colors. -
I just ordered the p770dm from mythlogic and the screens are listed as gsync compatible at checkout. Now I just need to wait until it's delivered. Woop!

What screen option did you choose? I have a hard time choosing between the two.
-
I only saw 1 option on mythlogic for the 1080p version if you're referring to 1080p vs 4k. I went with 1080p.

We have recieved first samples of Clevo P751DM and P771DM-G and we will start tests tomorrow. Do you want us to check anything particular?

I've come to a sad realization.
While the geek in me wants one of these, the truth is the most demanding task I perform on my laptop is maybe 1 hour of playing Diablo 3 a day. Between work and two young children, I don't game much any more.
So I can get a P750DM for $2000 CAD, or I can get a Eurocom Shark 4 (Clevo N150SD) for $1000 CAD. They will both play Diabo 3 the same.
Looks like I may have to pass on this beast, and wait a few years for my laptop usage to become more demanding before I can justify spending more on a gaming notebook. -
most importantly: cpu temps! stock everything, 6700k, intel xtu and prime95 at max fans (sequentially, not in parallel!)

That is one slick looking machine. Wow.
Temps and core speeds... 3dmark and 3DMark11 benchmarks

Those are obvious tests
We will post results within 24 hours

Awesome. If it's not too much to ask:
- Pictures of then internals - drive(s) layout, memory, etc.
- Pictures of the external ports.
- Also, can you determine if USB 3.1 is also Thunderbolt3, and if there's a way see if you can saturate / bench the throughput of that port.

great, could you also test speakers and headphones? i wonder if they improved sound a bit, tnxEthrem likes this. -
Curious about temps and noise with and without max fans too. Some of us don't always want jet engine sounds coming from our machines when we are gaming lol.
Power consumption would be a nice bonus also. Curious to see how much power these machines consume compared to the Haswell models. -
This is picture of the front panel and side ports. We will upload more pics tomorrow.

Notebookcheck have had the XMG U505 successor (DM model) for a while now, they should be publishing their review imminently which will enable direct comparison of http://www.notebookcheck.net/Schenker-XMG-U505-Clevo-P751ZM-Notebook-Review.134638.0.html and http://www.notebookcheck.net/Schenker-XMG-U705-Clevo-P771ZM-Notebook-Review.141416.0.html . They test noise levels, battery capacity, temperatures and so on, so for comparison to ZM it should be pretty comprehensive
In the mean time:
- internals are basically the same, so is the cooling system
- exterior is the same apart from that on the left hand side the USB 3 port furthest from the RJ45 is now a USB 3.1 which does support Thunderbolt 3 (already confirmed location and functionality in previous posts)
- speakers and headphone quality - this has been improved through software. The X-Fi MB5 includes more control over EQ and so on
Here are some preliminary benchmarks that we carried out on the P771DM in August with 980M and 6700K:
GPU temp (Furmark + Prime) 79C
CPU temp (Furmark & Prime) 98C (with fans on auto, NOT on Fn 1 100%)
Max power draw load (Furmark & Prime95) 220W
Cinebench R15 (Single Core) 163
Cinebench R15 (Multi Core) 584 - THINK THIS IS INCORRECT
I have loads more figures from August, but they weren't completed with final BIOS and drivers so may not be 100% accurate for retail units. Literally hours to wait now though
@Ramzay - indeed, pretty identical on the exteriorLast edited: Sep 21, 2015Mr Najsman, Grizzlington, deepfreeze12 and 4 others like this. -
if u wanna see internals and ports, just head over to the original batcave OP
and yes, sleek machine indeed, i see that every day on my desk
also, currently its impossible to saturate the m.2 ports with 4 lanes of pcie 3.0, there just arent drives available that are that fast

Important change in hardware is second port M.2 which now supports PCIe Gen3x4 SSD so RAID 0 with two Samsung SM951 will be possible
Also P751DM has one more M.2 port, dedicated for 3G/LTE.

@XMG: sure u didnt oversee a typo there with the cinebench r15 multi score? 584 seems way too low for a 6700K

Yes, I edited the post, it is wrong but the Single Core should be correct. They are very early tests from last month as I mentioned, so the notebookcheck review which comes out in a day or two will have more accurate benchmarks
Should be Blend Test, don't know which version they used but it's on par with 4790K on auto fan - again, nbc will tell all shortly ;-)moviemarketing, Samot and jaybee83 like this. -
very nice) does it somehow interfere with GPU PCI-E lanes with this type of NVME RAID0 setup?

Yeah, I'd love to get some dB readings on idle/load. I often use my laptop around other people and I'd rather not it sound like a hairdryer.
Ethrem likes this. -
It's really virtually identical to the current ZM model which notebookcheck measured - just search for XMG U505 and U705 and checkout the Emissions System Noise section towards the end of the review.
-
My P377SM-A makes a hairdryer look quiet... 70dB with max fans.
-
Did they fixed the annoying speaker noise issue?
Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk -
idle = dead (im serious! with flash storage only ull have to glue your ear to the fan exhaust to take notice of the fans
)
load = whooshing sound, not whining like a hairdryer. ive definitely heard worse

Thanks for the info (the other replies too) -- sounds like it's surprisingly quiet for a desktop CPU.

OCCT at stock. Go into options and untick the shutdown at 85C° Auto and Max fans please. Five minutes should be enough. Thank you!
The N150SD looks like a really good machine, all around. ODD if you need it. SIM card slot. Good traveler. Though my P770ZM traveled well too. I just won't take it out on the beach. How geeky!
@HYPERBOOK @XMG the fourth M.2 slot in the P750DM, a location photo would be nice, if it's not in the NotebookCheck review. -
@Bullrun I've asked the guys to get a photo but they are all still flat out processing the DM stock delivery, hopefully by the afternoon I'll have something!

Cool! Thanks.

...will it boot from an NVMe SM951 with the BIOS as shipped? Or do you need a non-NVMe drive to boot?
Also, any id on the screen? Would be curious to find out about color accuracy and the like, but a part number should be sufficient if it's not a new panel. -

uuuuh P6 owners are gonna be happy! great work as always prema

Well, I hope I'm not hitting FN+1 fan levels very often in normal use!
-
auto fans never hit 100% (fn + 1) so that's actually impossible unless you're already thermal throttling heavily.
FN + 1 should be used however when doing stressful things =D.
If you have a pair of headphones or even a single fan on in your room or an air condition running you'll not hear your machine on max fans.
