I didn't have to remove the other SSD when I added a second 2.5" drive to my P770ZM. I would recommend using a spacer to increase the drive's thickness to 9.5mm, as they fit more securely in the bay this way.

You need to initialize and format the drive from disk manager in Windows. Right click on My Computer, select Manage, and what you need will be there.Mr Najsman likes this. -

Tried to play BF1.
Had to update to 37x.xx something.
Made restore point.
Updated drivers.
Still didnt work because drivers out of date.
Restored with Win8 restore tool.
SURPRISE you dont get to choose restore point, instantly restored to factory default.
Everything gone, **** you user!TomJGX likes this. -
You have to be careful as they have two types of restore options on win 8.1 and 10. The restore point you create isn't the option you would think it is in backup and restore...

Hope you had a backup.. Had no issues with BF1 on Win 10 anniversary here.. Few crashes here and there when trying to open the game but once in, been stable for me.. Using the 372.54 drivers since .70 removed display brightness control for me..

Kinda. I´ve found many things under My Documents and windows.old, even some save-files so I can continue playing.
One thing that bothers me though, my Clevo Control Center (Hotkey) got downgraded and now I have no XTU-button which was very useful for hanging out between Auto and max fans.
I can only find a newer one on Clevos site and only the "Asian" link works. And that will take 6 hours because reasons, a download that should take 20 seconds. Does anyone have an alternative download-link? -
I´m stuck in driver hell. After y accidental rollback I was back to 347.xx. Today I tried to update to 372.54 (since 372.70 needed for BF1 was outdated according to BF1).
This lost me my HDMI output to my external screen. Also the only thing I could do in Geforce Experience was download the newest driver, nothing happened when I clicked the other options.
So I uninstalled and installed 365.19. This is when the fun starts. After a reboot no driver was installed and I´m not allowed to install one either, "insatallation failed".
Right now I´m gonna try DDU (there´s no driver to uninstall) and try to install 362.00 which I think I had before this mess.
Any ideas?ajc9988 likes this. -
DDU, make sure auto driver install is turned off by opening windows computer properties> advanced system properties>hardware tab> device installation settings: do not allow windows to install hardware drivers. Do that before the DDU reboot. Then install either 372.xx drivers. Or whichever driver, really...

Hmmm, the latest versions of XTU don't work with Hotkey but haven't heard of problems the other way around before. Maybe try re-installing an older version of XTU? For other Hotkey versions, you could try the mysn downloads page here:
https://www.mysn.de/secure/userarea/download.asp
(look under XMG→XMG_U505_und_U705)
The versions I believe I have on file here for Hotkey are 3.06.17, 3.11.24, and 3.19.32. I could try to make you a link to one of them if it helps. -
I didn't use DDU but instead did a fresh OS reinstall and that fixed my driver issues. I also upgraded to Premas latest vBIOS and am now using 372.54 without problems so far.
Latest Hotkey from Clevo finally got downloaded but that doesn't have any good options between auto and Max either. I'll take a look at your link, thanks!ajc9988 likes this. -

I stand corrected: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Eurocom-P7-Pro-Clevo-P770ZM-Notebook-Review.144322.0.html
Maybe it was a European exclusive because I don't recall seeing that CPU available here in NA. -

Eurocom had it at some point (as the article you posted) but stopped selling it eventually. It's just such a rare CPU. Eurocom is in Canada, not Europe. Confusing name, I know.

The other Probelm are the different Bios Versions. Can i use the Original Clevo Bios or another Bios for the P770ZM?

Question: Can I upgrade my laptop from a 965 to a 1060? Wattage-wise the 1060 should be under the 980.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If it's an MXM 965M and you find an MSI MXM 1060 then perhaps. The clevo version will not fit.
-
If I upgrade the graphics card to MSI MXM 1060 on my P770ZM laptop, will the Display Ports and HDMI port be upgraded as well (from DP 1.2 to DP 1.3 and HDMI 2.0 to HDMI 2.0b)?
-
there are no experiences with that particular upgrade yet, so any details would be anyone's guess at this point

Apologies, should have been more specific: Eurocom's P7 pro, the "rebranded" P770ZM.
I would gladly take it back if someone manages to source a 1060/1070 that works for this laptop. Guess we'll have to be a little more patient...i_pk_pjers_i likes this. -

There are no 1070 or 1060 cards that would presently work in P770ZM or P770DM. The GTX 1070 doesn't physically fit and GTX 1060 would require totally new VGA heatsink as its layout is totally different from GTX 9xxM.

So, an update on not all RAM is created equal. I recently purchased some G.Skill 2133MHz 11-11-11-31 ram that was manufactured in August. I, once again, overclocked a 2133MHz set to 2400MHz, this time with 12-13-13-31-278 CR2. After comparing the results, I stayed with the Kingston set I previously flashed. The interesting thing was that AIDA64 had the G.Skill winning on speed. So did winsat mem. It was a slim win, but a win nonetheless (except on latency in AIDA64). But, even with this, it lost in MaxxMem2 and (where it really counts) SuperPi32M (by over 2 seconds)! Fully attribute the loss to the latency, but here are the pics!
Kingston
G.Skill
So, is seems I forgot to do screenshots of the SuperPi32M runs, BUT, the results were Kingston at 7M14.xxxS and G.Skill at 7M16.8xxS. Now, this is with a full CL setting slower AND much HIGHER tRFC (278 vs 228 on the Kingston). I wanted to point this out so that people would know, NOT ALL MEMORY IS CREATED EQUAL! My BIOS settings for 2400MHz on the G.Skill kit to follow (it was a 4x8GB Kit)... -

So I'm just wondering, has anyone upgraded their panel to a 120Hz panel? From what I understand, it seems there is at least a FHD 120Hz Matte panel that uses 2-lane 30-pin eDP much like the LP173WF4-SPD1 does so it should be fully compatible? I'm thinking of upgrading mine but I would like it if I wasn't the first one who has done so, even though I think it should work?
edit: I tried it in person, it is NOT compatible. The panel bezels are way too different.Last edited: Jan 13, 2017 -

It should work, though going through a place that would let you return it would be good insurance.

I was wondering if anyone had any idea if there are gpu upgrade possibilities available, or on the horizon? My 770zm is fitted with the 980m, and I think my LCD uses the old lvds connector.
Am I doomed?

P770ZM is maxed at 980M and we are not planning any GPU upgrades. All new 10 series MXM modules don't fit physically inside P770ZM.Captain_Bobby, ajc9988 and jaug1337 like this. -
This is screen specific. No two screens are the same and you have a 1 in 20 shot of someone else's screen being off in the same way your screen is off. But an i1 display pro and fix all your displays yourself.
To build on this, you can pay someone to create a custom heatsink, but you would still be limited to the 1060. What I'd recommend is hold off until Volta/Vega next year in new models. After HBM2 is used, the changes in video card shape will settle down, plus your machine will be old enough to upgrade. Things hour weird when Clevo redesigned to set up for hbm on the die. Meanwhile, msi will have to redesign again to fit that. Until then, those two companies are considered in flux, even though Clevo is closer to where things are headed. This is why I built a desktop and will wait years until the shape settles down. Have a powerful enough laptop, but use my desktop for the rest. In fact, I'll likely sell my current rig to build a water chilled amd Ryzen rig, then have that as my main rig for the foreseeable future. The mobile premium and gpu changes made it where a desktop is the only way to ensure being able to upgrade (in other words, Clevo lost my earlier upgrade).

I would like to add a second SSD to my P771ZM. Checking my reseller's specs, I already have one M.2 bay occupied by the first SSD, and a SATA 3 bay occupied by the traditional HDD. What SSD/connection would you recommend for the upgrade?
-
Depends on how much space you want to add. 0.5, 1, 2, 4 TB?
Only for storage or as main drive?ajc9988 likes this. -
I was thinking about 0.5, 1 Tb top, basically to install some space hungry flight sims or stuff like Photoshop and Premiere. OS would remain on the old SSD.
-
Ok, then i'd go with either
- Toshiba Q300, 960 GB in 2,5" (because it's only 222 € here)
- Sandisk X400 1 TB if you want it in m.2 (because its only 255 € here) and you can stuff it in a nice small external m.2 exclosure later.
- Crucial MX300, 525/750 GB if you want to invest less (140/203 € here)
Alternatives: Crucial MX300 (1 TB) or Samsung 850 Evo. They're priced a bit higher per GB, maybe a bit faster, but you won't notice this for your use.Galahad78 likes this. -

Ok. Got myself into a bit of a pickle.
Situation: Had a CRI (Cat related incident) which cost me the motherboard to my P770zm.
Ordered a replacement from RJTech and inadvertently ordered a P750zm mobo. Great customer service btw, they are very responsive and swapped me out just fine.
Got that swapped out and got the new one in and no display. Fans spin up and the heat sinks get hot so I think everything else is ok.
Come to find out that even though I have a non-4k P770zm, I have an EDP connector and not LVDS.
I have an LVDS motherboard, now, though
So....rather than send it back again, I would like to just order an LVDS screen and cable. Is that ok?
Is that the best solution? I'm not sure RJ would swap me out again (and I wouldn't blame them if they won't)
Thanks! -

It's fine to do that, but I'd ask about the exchange. With eDP, you can use a 1080P 120Hz display if you upgrade the display. Otherwise...

Thanks. I've ordered the cable and screen.
I feel bad asking for another exchange because it's my fault (TWICE!).
Thanks for verifying that it would work. RJTech is great to order from btw. I will probably order my next laptop from them. -
