Yeah that might need a modded BIOS to get working properly. I have seen that issue with the 120Hz screen being plugged into the Origin DM1, it doesnt black screen but the screen flickers like crazy. However on my DM1 it works just fine with the @Prema BIOS.
Do let me know if they say yes for the extra panel.
-
-
origin dm1 is stock sager/clevo bios?
-
Yeah kinda. But there is some funky business going on with their boards or something. Even with a Hybrid BIOS that works flawlessly with my DM1 and the 120Hz panel, the Origin system wasn't working properly no matter what with a similar Hybrid BIOS made for that system. (using the same 120hz Panel).
It might not be as complicated for you and you just might need an updated BIOS, specially if your reseller is testing those panels out with other systems. -
they say that these panels are currently unsupported (retail) and no bios/ec update were issued from clevo
-
Yeah that explains it.
Been trying to buy one ever since AW started adding the new ones to their laptops.Last edited: Jun 8, 2017 -
Now I understand what "flicker" you say when hotswapping the panels
-
Oh that reminds me, possible to plug in the old 120hz panels to alienware kaby?
-
I dont see why not. But they might also need one of the recent BIOS'. Shouldn't be an issues till the time Dell is sending theirs out with custom EDID's.
I personally haven't that flicker on my DM1 at all with the 120Hz panel. But then again my DM1 is a standard Clevo and running a very different custom BIOS. But the person with the Origin DM1 , was having crazy flickering during Windos boot, games loading, or even black screens sometimes. (All that while using a similar custom BIOS, made for that system) -
I tried to hotswap, caused flicker with tv-static on screen.
Plugging back 1.0 no output until hard power down and reset.
Will try 1.0 on R4 kaby today. -
I really wouldn't try hot swapping these. Might blow a fuse or something on the panel as a best case scenario. or even fry one of the connector pins.
-
Yeah, was just curious.
Will wait for prema then. -
Thanks for the info unfortunately even when installing that software version I still get controller driver unkown in the details. I'm gonna order another USB c to hdmi adapter that's thunder bolt 3 certified if that doesn't work I'll have to reopen the case with my reseller.

Stress Tech Notebook Evangelist
Have you tried to enable ThunderBolt option in your Bios and change the ThunderBolt security to "Legacy". Sorry for stating the obvious if you already have checked this.
By the way, the "Plugable USB 3.1 Type-C to HDMI 2.0 Adapter" seems to be a good adapter, as it supports HDMI 2.0 4K@60Hz. Check it out: http://plugable.com/products/usbc-hdmi/ -
Yeah I did that as soon as I read your post. I have something similar to that but it doesn't work. This time I'll make sure to order something that is thunderbolt 3 certified. Basically when I use the dongle I notice a USB 3.1 device under device manager but there is no audio or video output. It worked fine on my msi gt73vr before. In any case I'm hoping it software and not hardware that is the issue.

Stress Tech Notebook Evangelist
I think mostly that it might be a software problem as you have stated that your controller driver is unkown in the details section on the ThunderBolt software.
Try fully uninstalling Thunderbolt software and driver then re-installing the oldest ThunderBolt software you have from your re-seller. If this does not work.... then like you said: contact you re-seller, as this problem you have seems weird. Just remember! do not flash your ThunderBolt firmware. Take care pal. -
Does anyone use the Clevo software on their NP 9876, The control center or OC the CPU.... I have never used the OC software for the GPU cus that would be crazy hot on this lappy.
The reason I ask is cus it is very buggy and does not let the fans kick on when on automatic settings. This causes things to overheat as I have mentioned before
. I am using the high speed fan settings but that is loud sometimes. I just want to uninstall it all but I like the backlit keyboard parts..... What do you all do in these regards? I know I can oc from the bios which is fine if I need to OC but what else can I do about the backlit keyboard. Then i wondered if the fans will run fine without the software? Any help is appreciated <3 Please bestow your great wisdom

Mobius 1, quick question for you. Where did you buy your thermal pads from? I am getting everything ready to delid / LM and replace all my thermal pads but I have no clue what pads are good or not. I am pretty new to all of this so I have spent a while reading up on LM and other thermal compounds but I cant find to many reviews on Thermal Pads. Fujipoly seems like the best with the 17.0w/mk but they only come in .05mm 1mm 1.5mm. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks
-
can get a full set from 0.5 to 5mm here for less than 20US$ shipped
very good thermal pads, they squish easily too unlike fujipoly
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1pcs-100mm-...al-Pad-/251735856827?var=&hash=item3a9ca056bb
I'm not saying that fujipoly is bad, but for a heatsink with this crap QC and loose tolerance, a squishy pad would work better -
Perfect thanks!

where can I get this nuclear powered cuba hard drive?

LOL just realized I spelled it wrong

I have a weird issue. Everytime I connect/disconnect my headphones, my windows bar at the bottom of the screen freezes. It stays like that for a couple of minutes then it unfreezes. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I would re-install your sound drivers, sounds like an IRQ type operation has gone funny.
-
I have another issue. While playing Ghost recon wildlands or Battlegrounds, my PC is crashing after 5-15 minutes. Very frustrating. I tried to update to the latest nvidia driver but it is still happening. PC is fine with League of legends. It must be when either the gpu or cpu is under heavy load. Is something faulty? This is a brand new unit, got the last one replaced.

Try stress tests and monitor your temperatures/loads/frequencies.
It's fairly rare for a crash to be temperature dependant at stock. -

Too much undervolt? -

@ocr123 Make sure you do remove any changed settings yes, run totally stock when testing. -
So I'm in the middle of my delidding of my i7 7700k and I was wondering if I should use thermal grizzly conductonaut on my duel 1080s? I know one concern is if it spreads but I noticed both of the gpus have a protective tape around them
Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk -
UNless you know the contact is perfect on the GPU cores, do not use LM on the GPU's. Also if you do decide to use it make sure you cover the surrounding areas with Kapton tape and / or electrical tape properly. Like every nook and crany of the core and certain surrounding areas.Papusan and Ground_Zro like this. -
Hello all.
It's been a while.
Is there no confirmation, or speculation to when an update to the P870KM1-G is going to be released, and what new features it will bring? -
This moment is a really bad time to buy Clevo's top Dog, I mean for the Desktop CPU version at least.
Ryzen is around the corner, it will sure bring changes and I bet Clevo will have AMD components as they did in the past.
As for the next intel platform, what i've heard is that Thunderbolt port will be directly linked to the CPU lanes instead of passing through the chipset,
and it will most likely have 6 cores variants. -
How long would I have to wait on purchasing a top Clevo device if I waited for the next generation?
-
Considering how they did with DM3 and KM... KM was shortly released after DM3. @Phoenix can tell you more
I'd say wait for summer at least. Mid-years are most times critical leaps (even if minor) in technologies / purchases and
very good offers can appear autumn / winter when "gamer" kids go back to school rofl.ExMacGamer likes this. -

Or when students go back to uni/college

Ok so I made a stupid mistake, I prepared everything for my delidding last Sunday, ordered the conductonaut and kryonaut, delidding tool ect. I then left for a week to do some military training and came home and all the stuff I ordered was here. Proceeded to delid and repasted my GPUs, put it back together to find out I never saved my baseline tests. So what I was wondering is if anyone has some baseline numbers for some CPU stress tests that I can compare mine to? My i7 7700k is currently running stock speeds with the only modification being undervolted -150 mv. I know it won't give me a perfect before and after comparison but it will give me something

As well Take a look, Not fun with fried hardware!!
Good advice
Bacause People trust too much on the pre-assembled protective tape!!

I took the safe bet and just used the kryonaut I ordered

Probably a good idea with the level of hardware you are working on.Ground_Zro likes this. -
Its actually pretty hard to damage anything with liquid metal.
Liquid metal TIM's can be electrically capacitive and will most likely be non-conductive.
Beeing capacitive means that it can hold a small charge but it won't transfer it further.
I haven't heard yet any case of someone damaging any CPU/GPU with liquid metal TIM.
Coollaboratory liquid Ultra could be the only one dangerous in the long run as it solidifies
and creates micro fractures if directly applied on the die, it is to be changed often. -
What? I assure you that liquid metal bridging two contacts will in fact cause issues. I had a tiny droplet of LM fall into my CPU socket and cause intermittent BSODs and failures to boot until I managed to tweezer it all out. Whether it's permanent or just until the offending LM is removed depends on what it touches.

Maybe take a search into the forum. I'm sure you will find something in one of the Clevo sub-threads. Hint.. Search up on the re-sellers. As well see my post #1684.

Anyone got an update on the ETA for the Prema bios for this machine? or any of the vBios?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
For the BIOS it will be when he is done.

So I just delidded and repasted my CPU with conductonaut and GPUs with kryonaut, I am about to replace / add some thermal pads. I am also going to order some copper shims, and check my to make sure my VC is flat, my question is what size would you recommend 15x 15 or 20x 20? I'm going to order a set with .3mm .5mm .8mm 1mm 1.5mm 2mm.. Also is there anything else you would recommend for cooling? I plan on keeping the stock clock 4.2-4.5ghz. I am about to deploy to Afghanistan for a year and I want to ensure that I do everything that I can to keep temperatures as low as I can. Anything you can think of would help

I usually use a sheet of 0.5mm and 1mm pads and combine them to make any thickness I need.
The taller pads are squidgy (technical term) so they don't matter so much.
A bitspower IHS (skylake version which is thicker) is best to avoid a shim on the CPU. -
So if the heat sinks do not line up perfectly to the IHS you use thermal pads instead of copper shims?
Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk -
Maybe make yoo a mod Coolermaster U3 If you not have one already
-
Yeah that's my plan after I get the laptop all finished

Sorry I read the dimentions as pad thickness size. Just the part about the bitspower IHS applies. -
I Installed the Bitspower Skylake IHS with CLU all around. I run my stock clocks with the default voltage and a
-150 mv offset. It runs real cool.
